Xiaomi Mijia Automatic Umbrella $13.24 USD (~ $19.84 AUD) Delivered @ AliExpress

410

So, after wanting to buy one of these for a friend, I learnt that they are heinously expensive when not on sale. I absolutely love mine though, and highly recommend it, as it is pretty strong (hasn't broken with >1 year of use), and a great reliable folding mechanism. It's also super portable, folds up nicely, and the fabric is very water-repellent. Bargain at this price.

Not sure why, but I had a $3 USD off $5 USD spend coupon, but I think it was targeted, so haven't included it as part of the deal. I got it via the App.

  • Is it heavy?

    • specs say 415g. imo, it's not heavy for an umbrella.

If that's your concern you should consider going to the gym ChiMot.

      • Carry-on limits obviously.

        • Yeah, makes sense. But does it make sense bringing umbrella when travelling?

  • +3

judging from the pics, it doesn't look genuine (unless theres 2 different ones)

It's not the original Xiaomi umbrella. It's something else.

    • Just got mine. Doesn't look genuine. Nowhere on the box or tag says Xiaomi. Google lens revels it's called Empty Valley. Disappointed, sent a message to the seller through Ali Express. Anyone knows how is Ali Express with any disputes?

    "Before Order Pls Note:

It is Xiaomi ecological chain products [There is no any Xiaomi LOGO on it]

    Thanks for your understanding!   :-)"

      Here we go.
Now we have "fake" Chinese brands.
I am not saying that it is a fake .
What I mean is that Chinese brands become so popular that other products are being promoted using their attributes.

      • Ok so it isn't Xioami, but its 'ecological'

Not bad for a battery powered umbrella that'll end up in the bin faster than a normal one around the same money!

Good effort put into the post OP

i own 2 of these and there is nothin special that makes them different to any other “one hand” opening umbrella in this price range.
in strong wind they they still trombone if wind gets underneath.
a work colleague has a self opening one that has some vents so if wind gets underneath it doesn’t trombone, he claims he got it off ebay.

  • I’ve had one for two years take it to and from work and when I travel overseas . Sturdy unit and good to keep in your bag .

Held well under heavy winds but you have to angle it so it doesn’t catch wind underneath .

It does not say Xiaomi on it anyway though FYI

  • just read the comments on the aliexpress page..

  • so what's automatic about the umbrella?

    • Opens and… close.

      • Pressing the button releases the spring mechanism and the umbrella canopy springs/pushes open?

I'm looking for a clear umbrella, but not one of those thin as paper umbrellas (like plastic shrink wrap) that you find in Daiso. It should be thick like raincoat material. Anyone know where I can find one?

  • Got mine today. Pretty happy with it and quick delivery considering overseas. Ordered 23rd Aug.
