Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 is still one of the best mice I have ever used for FPS games, and it is 15 years old and still in production, how can a mouse be outdated, 10,000 DPI and all the stupid stuff they advertise is just marketing BS.

As far as I can tell most of the sensors in current mice are years old and lots of different mice companies use the same sensors.
Everything I have read says tracking quality peaked years ago, human response time is only so fast, increasing something from 10,000 to 20,000 counts per inch etc. isn't noticeable. So mice increased DPI and malfunction speed as a new way to compete. So it is personal preference more than anything. A mouse has a resolution, acceleration, polling rate and tracking speed value, even old mice are fast enough to be not limited by humans inputs, so you won't lose in a competitive game because of an old mouse. But a pro gamer who is sponsored by a product will try to sell you a new one every year.
@Kommodore: I have a G602 with a sensor that was considered top of the line 5 years ago or so, it is frustrating because I go past the malfunction speed a lot and are stuck looking at the ground or sky a couple times every session. Imagine how worse it would be if I used the low sensitivity of sniper players. Also it is heavy and drains my arm, new mouses are almost always lighter too for the equivalent quality of sensor.
If you play any competitive fps or even any sort of aim-intensive games at all you'll feel the difference every time your mouse spins out and you die. If you don't then of course you won't be able to tell the difference.
at most everyday level, mouses aren't the problem with gamers or precision users. Even pros will adapt or use other mouses from time to time. In the end a mouse thats 15 years old or a mouse that is the latest and most 'elite,' will only perform as a good as the player.
That said, im using a 6 year old Gamdias mouse that hasn't failed me.

I would like white but all the white mouses I've had in the past have turned brown or yellow from either oils and dirt on the skin or aging plastic :).. If you want your mouse to look nice for more then 2 years then dont get white.

Thanks. I saw this sale and was about to ask people here for opinions. Then after reading your post, I read the explanation of their OEM version: they bought 70% of the genuine parts and invented the rest 30% and assembled the mouse and sell it. That's ok so far but then how can they slap on the box the word Razser? Is this legal?

linux night owls: you cant turn off the LED.
If you turn off the LEDs in the Razer software in Windows it will remember that setting.
I hate having mouse software running for no reason so I always uninstall or disable that crap after setting it up initially.
I have the Deathadder Elite and really don't like it. The scrollwheel is horrible and the ambidextrous design doesn't fit nicely in my hand.
The Deathadder Elite isn't ambidextrous tho..
I could be wrong - it just looks completely symmetrical. I don't like the shape though.
Semi ambidextrous; symmetrical shape but buttons only on the inside left. There are few choices for higher end truly ambidextrous mice for us left hand users.

Loved this mouse but long term mouse click quality isn't good as it ended up doublclicking and clicker eventually got stuck. Can only recommend razer for their mechanical keyboards as mines being going solid whereas my deathadder chroma and plastic headset broke around 2 yr mark

+1 to that. Very hard to find a decent mouse for us southpaws. Check out the Roccat range, they're the only manufacturer who offer more than just a token one in their range which caters for lefties. I've had a Kiro at home for a couple of years (which is also customisable), but I think it may be off their current range. EB Games still have them and they usually go on sale for $57.
Only last month I replaced my work mouse with a Kova AIMO which I was able to pick up in the U.S. for far less than it retails here. I'm super happy with it, very nice shape, reasonably weighty, and nicely placed buttons. The sole complaint I have is the Swarm software is Windows-only, they haven't got a Mac version. Not a problem at home as I don't use the Kiro to its full potential, but at work I use a PC and I have a lot of custom assignments on the buttons which makes the Kova that much more useful.

Not having to deal with a cord is so much betterLefties - There's not many cordless mice we can use which are any decent, and they tend to be top-of-the-range (i.e. $$$$).
Hard-core or Pro Gamers - Despite what the label says, a cordless mouse will be hard to beat a corded one for response times, plus a corded mouse will never run out of battery power at an inconvenient time.Cord isn't much of an issue as the mouse has to stay on the mouse pad. Also wired mouse means no batteries and better response time.
Also a cheap cord bungee works wonders :) barely notice that is is wired.
How does cord bungee work and do you recommend one ?

i bought 2 white ones which i tried today for some reason the mouse is not being detected in legacy synapse but when you plug in the mouse it downloads the new synapse and sees the mouse but i still feel like its fake for some reason
got mine today, the package is a Chinese only, is it the same for you guys? does that mean it is definitely fake? anyway to test if its fake or not?
