So porting back and forth 5 times saves 50 bucks and takes about 5 minutes each time. Getting closer to even for me.

    • What do you mean?

      • +1

Starter packs are 10 bucks each on special. You port each month to a new company. So cost is about 60 and time spent is about 30 minutes overall.

        • But they dont include international calls right? Or is there one that does?

    • Or you could get two Belong $40 starter packs on special. ($30-$50 total)
Activate one on $40 plan for 60GB data to gift to other.
Activate second on $10 plan with referral code, get 6 months access included.

      profit!
(no international on 2nd sim, but you could use voip. More options with dual-sim phone.)

      • +3

Except Belong seems to have begun banning people for referring/gifting to themselves.

My last two ports have been a nightmare, I'm going to just go with Boost.

      • Me too (boost to Optus, but it was a Telstra tech issue). Thinking of just sticking on the Aldi $25 plan.

        • Mine was Telstra to Optus, then back from Optus to Telstra a month later. Both took several days and I ended up having to recharge both times, which makes it not cheap at all.

  • Till what date I have to activate my sim as my current contract is expiring at the end of November. And can I port in my no. To prepaid. Any link to know the 20 international destinations for unlimited calling. Thanks

    • +6

All Telstra Prepaid Max plans include unlimited international calls to 20 destinations. These are Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, UK, USA and Vietnam.

This list of countries has been changed from last year. For an example, last year list had Sri Lanka in it.

          It is called Pell revenge

  • Good if someone just want to rollover their data bank :)

    • i could be wrong. i think this is a sim kit for new customers. if you are already with telstra, you can only recharge $150.

      • that is true :p

  • +4

Awaiting return of the $300 Sim Kit for $200

    • +1

that was best of all time with 200GB data.

      • Lucky me :-) I scored 200gb data also!

    • Yeah. Was waiting for that one to come back in stock. Didn't happen till the deal expired. Had to go with the 80G boost. So far so good.

  • +1

There seem to be a problem with Telstra activating service in the last week. I could not port across from any service. Just a caution. May have been fixed but it may not.

I just got a amaysim and ported yesterday after being out data from my last Sim.

    • +1

Had the same issue. $15 down the drain.

    • It's not fixed. I actioned a porting process to Telstra on Wed morning which didn't happen 'til Fri morning. I then actioned a port back to Vodafone Fri morning and I'm still in limbo hence Telstra's caused me to be without my phone for 4 days and counting. Apparently they're upgrading their system!? Pretty ordinary!

    • You can ring up Telstra & they can escalte to port by hand (me from Boost to Optus), it took another 1.5 days. In the meantime, I got boost to give me free credit until the port, as I was stuck in limbo (ie. hostage).

Not as good as the Boost 80GB/$150 plan

Why is it not as good? It is a lot cheaper.

    • +1

The international roaming appears to be better as well.

    • +2

Because this only gives 6 Months expiry compared to the 12 Months Boost.
Also I got my Boost sim with a 15% eBay plus deal, which is not that much more expensive for an extra 20 gb

  • 6 Months | 60GB Data | Unlimited Calls/Text $110
Not as good as the Boost 80GB/$150 plan

Not as good as the Boost 60GB/$100 plan either…

    • +3

That $10 is well worth it. Even though Boost runs off the Telstra network. It is not of the same quality. In most cases it won't really matter, but they are definitely not on par.

      • +1

        why Boost use full network?

        • Sorry, not sure what you mean?

          • @[Deactivated]: Boost is the only MVNO to use the full Telstra network. All the others (Belong, Woolworths, Telechoice etc) use the Telstra Wholesale network which has a reduced coverage area

            • +4

@Richocho: Correct. The coverage is the same. But the performance is not.

              Some interesting reading material.

@[Deactivated]: I did notice my phone doesn’t show 4g+ like it did on vodafone now that I’m on Boost.
Max 14-21mbps vs 62-93mbps on Vodafone. Still wasn’t that happy about Vodafone anyway

                • @HunterBargainHunter: I have a Telstra and Boost Sim. Same device I get different results. I can't find anything concrete but a lot suspect even though it's the Telstra network that it's not full Telstra service. It makes sense too. Telstra would only damage their brand if you could get the same service for much cheaper.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Thanks, that was a really interesting thread although frustratingly lacking a solid conclusion.

There appears to be anecdotal evidence supporting both sides of the argument

                • +1

@Richocho: Yeah, I can't argue that. There is nothing rock solid. But as I said above, I have a Telstra and Boost Sim and from the same device I get different results which makes me wonder. It's not a huge difference, I think Boost is still great value.

  • Can you buy this SIM with coles egiftcard?

    • I don't see why not.

  • Can this be used as a recharge?

  • -2

This is not very good. A year ago I had 20gb per month 12 month plan for $39 a month with a $200 jb gift card

    • Err… I don't get your logic. Your plan costs $234 for 6 months, vs this $110?

      • -2

200 dollar gift card like I mentioned above

        • +1

Depends if you need to spend $200 at JB Hifi.

  • How do you get the New Catalogue's early? Are you part of an "Exclusive Catalogue's Club."

  • Canthe $50 credit be used to get purvhase the $10 a day roaming pack?

Can someone please tell me if the following is included in this $110 package and what else is included if i've missed anything.

Unlimited calls and texts to standard Australian numbers.
Unlimited standard international calls to 20 destinations.
$50 Extra Credit for international calls and texts, roaming and premium SMS.

I need a new phone number and i'm looking for a new deal that has unlimited calls, texts and monthly data. Is it 60gb of data per month or does 60gb of data have to last you for 6 months? Just wondering if this deal is good for what i need it for if so i'll get one of these on Wednesday. Thanks.

    • It is 60GB for the 6 Months

      • Someone asked (well, whined actually) about this in another thread recently. ;-) When the titles say: "6 Months | 60GB Data" it means only 60GB for the entire time span. If it's monthly, it will say something like: "6 Months | 60GB/m" = 60GB per month. (Or just: "6 Months | 360GB Data".)

  • hmm can u add this to your current prepaid?

ie I'm on the 30 prepaid

  • If you're currently on a plan, can you switch to this?

Some of the comments lead me to think not?

    • I am afraid not straight. You have to "port-out & port-in".

  • it's $120 online from Telstra now for this plan

    • +2

So you can save $10 and get flybuys with this deal

  • Last time for $200 365-days sim, just for a couple days, was out of stock. Even up to now there is no stock yet.

Which city / state this offer is at? Couldn't find this few stores in Sydney..

    • Just picked this up from the Coles at Westmead today.
The offer wasn't listed on the shelf but when I asked the staff they said the offer is valid. They helped me check out the item at $110.

  • Can anyone confirm they've bought this with gift-cards?

    • +1

      Yea i did
