Cool Thanks! grabbed it. I'm sick of the Mrs whinging that WPS is annoying and Office is the only good software :P So good to get a deal on this overpriced crap lol

OpenOffice hasn't been updated for 8 years, might want LibreOffice which is a new fork that's actively improved upon. https://www.libreoffice.org/

So good to get a deal on this overpriced crap lol

I don't think I've ever paid over $85 for this for many years now… 5 people using it, probably around 12 devices. Hardly overpriced…

      • +1

I mainly just meant in terms of this v free software - Definitely a good deal for the product vs Retail prices.

        • +2

in terms of this v free software -

I'm pretty sure if going to compare paid software with free software, the free software will always work out cheaper…
          I could be wrong though…

          • +2

@jv: not always unless your time is worth nothing. regardless office 365 home even at regular retail price is actually pretty damn cheap given what you get for 6 users plus the storage, but these deals always make it better.

        • Where can I get free 1 TB of cloud storage?

Office 365 also includes 1 TB of cloud storage per user so 6 TB in total.

          • -2

            @DeluxeBull:

Where can I get free 1 TB of cloud storage?

Why would someone want to give you free 1 TB of cloud storage?

            • +1

@jv: probably because the suggestion was you can do cheaper with free software, the reality is you generally can't as 6TB of storage alone unless you find a great deal will cost you more annually than the office subscription cost. So assuming you are using the storage this is cheaper than many of the free office suite alternatives.

              • @gromit: This is what I meant to say heh

I love Office 365. Even 2 TB storage would cost more annually than Office 365.

In terms of storage BackBlaze is cheaper but that has other limitations - can only back up 1 computer whereas Office 365 can easily back up 6 computers. Most people have at least a computer and a laptop.

$2.49/mo 100GB Google Drive + LibreOffice should be fine for most ppl. Hardly anyone needs 1TB of cloud storage and not many people have 5 kids to use up all that "extras".

Not to mention the weird bugs in OneDrive where it can't handle ultralong Linux filenames or corrupted files.

But I agree if you do have 5 kids, this is great and a much better proposition.

One horse and one buggy should be fine for most people. Hardly anyone needs these new-fangled motor ve-hicles.

          • @Roman Sandstorm: Extreme but fair. Although horses and carts are far more expensive than motors these days

    • If she's not doing things too heavy, why not try the web version of Office? I find it's sufficient for simple things. For my use, I've never needed anything more, but that might not be enough for her.

      • Nah she needs PowerBI and stuff for work

Lets hope this has that haha.

        • +3

          Nah she needs PowerBI

PowerBI is a separate product and not included in this subscription…

  • Cheers OP!

  • Thanks OP grabbed two and would be stacking them up.

    • As in over 2 years?

Got details on how to do it, or do you just sit on the 2nd code for 12 months?

      • +3

Hi norbs, just input each key and your subscription length/expiry date increases, I've got 3 years in the bank from these Bing Lee codes in the past. I believe (don't quote me) it can take up to 5 years? Whereas Xbox live/Game Pass MS service you can only do a maximum of 3 years. So that is confusing there.

        • You're right. Consistency would be better but it's Microsoft.

      • +1

        As in over 2 years?

If you apply the code to an existing account, it just increases the expiry date. up to 5 years max

  • Getting a message that I can’t purchase it from the eBay app, but to add it to my watch list and buy it from their website. Is that normal? :/

    • +1

I got mine through the app for the shopback cashback.

      • I only tried through the eBay app to no luck, but I was able to make a purchase without the use of the app. :/

  • any1 know if i can use this to replace my current monthly subscription without risking of losing my data?

  • Probably a dumb question - will this work and sync on iOS devices ie. iPad?

    • +2

Yeah it does, as long as you signed in into your MS accounts with the appropriate apps (onedrive, MS Office suites).

      • Thanks for that!

  • I'm having issues trying to use that code… says the code is not valid, on both ebay and binglee's website. Any ideas?

    • Not just for office, but for anything with Bing Lee. Anyone have this issue or any tips on how to overcome it?

      • I was able to use the code, although I could only order it when using Safari and as a guest for some strange reason.

A bit off topic but I couldn't find anywhere else to say this. I think that Onedrive on the Android is a total piece of turd. I have not tested it on iOS but I presume it's the same.

It backs up all of the movies you load onto it, not just ones you shot yourself. I like to download a bunch of youtube clips to watch them offline when I'm away and not use my data. Onedrive decides it wants to send these to the cloud. There's a menu where you can exclude particular folders, which I use, but it still does that. It still backs up my downloaded youtube clips.

And funny enough, it doesn't back up every video that I shoot. Only some of them gets backed up.

Samsung Cloud has this problem too. It backs up all videos and not just your camera roll. No way to exclude certain folder, or whitelist only the camera roll.

I have since disabled Onedrive and only use Google Photos. It's a shame because as far as storage, Onedrive gives you the most for your dollar.

    • +1

Onedrive decides it wants to send these to the cloud.

No, you do… You need to change the settings and tell it which folders to sync.

      • -1

I can see you haven't read the next sentence you quoted. Here it is again to make it easier to read.

There's a menu where you can exclude particular folders, which I use, but it still does that. It still backs up my downloaded youtube clips.

        • I've never had a problem with it syncing folders I haven't selected.

    • That isn't a onedrive problem, that is a misconfiguration problem on your part. go to settings and configure it how you desire, just because the out of the box settings don't work for you doesn't mean it can't do it.

      • -2

        See above.

        • +1

I use OneDrive for photography editing with iPad/Android/Windows workflow. It's very configurable.

  • So in 12 months time, you'll have to stump up another 80+ bucks. And the year after and the year after. Subscription based software licensing is a joke. Total money spinner to pump up their profits. It started in corporate licensing but corporations have lots of money and it makes updates easier for IT. But consumers? Different kettle of fish. Reject that.

Go download LibreOffice. It's free, and will do most of what anyone here will need. Donate 10 bucks to the guys who develop it for the love of it. Hell, donate 76.80 rather than multinational giant Microsoft.

    • +5

I partly just went for it for the Onedrive. Considering dropbox is like 15 a month, Seemed pretty good for 1TB each account across 6 accounts.

    • +3

So in 12 months time, you'll have to stump up another 80+ bucks. And the year after and the year after.

Yep… That works out at $16 per user per year to run on multiple devices each…. (5 users for us). How cheap is that!!!

Years back, had to pay $400+ for a single licence on one device…

    • +2

I get it due to OneDrive 6 TB for 6.40/month is no joke. Google, Apple, Dropbox etc all offer 1 TB for at least $10/month. Desktop Office apps is the icing on the cake.

      • great value….google doesnt even offer 1TB anymore….just a slightly overpriced 2

    • It's office 365 + cloud storage all in one location online. It's not cheap, but meh for the convenience I'll take it.

  • +1

Will they send us the code via email or regular post?

    • Emailed. Might take an hour or so due to high demand.

    • I received my codes a little over an hour ago. Check your junk folder, just in case.

  • brilliant as I only have 2 weeks trial period left

  • Anyone know if this stacks? I currently have the 30 day free trial, Just wondering if I add this will it overwrite or add on to the end of the trial?

    • Anyone know if this stacks?

yes, you can purchase multiple ones and get separate codes.

just make sure you apply them to the same account and each will increase the expiry by 1 year (max 5 years)

    • Just tried it, like jv mentions, it will stack

  • +3

    Just a heads up there’s 366 days in 2020.

    • I think that should be added to the description as it makes the offer even better

  • Sigh. I bought it yesterday and activated the software today…
Well I should grab one or two more to stack..

    • Well I should grab one or two more to stack..

You could, but these offers come up several times a year.

      • tracking previous bargains, at least once every 2 months give or take.

        • +1

I usually top it up when I'm within 6 months of expiry and never had a problem finding a good price.

          • @jv: Have you ever had to pay full price?

I already have a year and wondering if I should stack one more year.

            • @DeluxeBull: Nope,

I got one a few months ago, posted here.

  • I just bought the office 365 personal for $88 las week, if I buy this subscription, will this override my 365 home or will i get another year after the home subscription expires with a family subscription?

    • I think it does… I've never tried it though… Maybe ask on Whirlpool…

    • pretty sure it stacks. but check previous thread on these deals its in there someone mentioned it once.

    • As long as you use the same account, it adds it to the existing one.

During the setup process, the date shows it's 365 days from when you add the code so just ignore this.

I confirmed with MS support chat too

  • Paying for software?? That's cute. 😂

If anyone wants to roll the dice for a $6.45 lifetime subscription: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Microsoft-Office-365-2016-2019-P… You'll find heaps of similar listings if you bother to search on eBay yourself.

I've been using a subscription from a similar listing for the past couple years, and so far so good. As I understand they're just subscriptions ripped from old discarded hardware.

    • Or if you don't trust the subscription model (lifetime seems unrealistic), you can always just buy a ripped product key for Office Professional. Once you activate the key, it's yours.. forever.

I bought one for my parents the other day, and it worked like a charm. Had the code emailed to me in a few hours and it activated fine on Microsofts product registration site. I used something like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ms-Office-Professional-Plus-2019…

      • Does it give you "lifetime" updates?

Also… Does it work on Mac?

      • +1

It's yours - until Microsoft get wise to the ripped key and revoke the activation.

Not like this hasn't happened before.

Isn't it risky to save stuff in this OneDr8ve account since the seller (and who knows who else) kno w s your account pw? Probably ok for non confidential items.

  • -1

If anyone wants to sell one of their 6 user accounts, let me know.

  • Need some help.

Does this version of Office include Publisher?

Office 365 Home on the Microsoft website says it does. On the Bing Lee ebay site, it doesn't.

Both versions are for 6 users, PC/Mac.

Is there a difference between the two? Or are they the same? Not sure what I'm missing.

    https://products.office.com/en-au/compare-all-microsoft-offi…

    Thanks.

    • +1

I would trust Office web site more. If you want I can confirm by installing Publisher on my laptop when I get home?

      • Send me a message if Publisher is included.

        Thanks!

      • Thanks again!

    • Access and Publisher are available on Windows.

    • What version is this?
Microsoft says Home doesn't have Access and Publisher.

Update: My bad, was looking into Home & Student… Feel like BigW employee now… :)

  • Has anyone received their code yet?
I got an email from Bing Lee saying that it's going through their screening department. Its been 24 hours now.

    • Apparently someone above got theirs. I'm still waiting for mine, been more than 24 hours now.

      • I of course got the codes within 2 hours of placing the order.

      • same nothing over 24 hrs

    • Mine was in Gmail spam
