    Anyone who can get to eBay checkout though is unable to process payment via PayPal (it becomes greyed-out after logging in), OR is unable to pay via manually entering credit card (says payment is unsuccessful or will go through, process for a few minutes then you’ll get an eBay email saying it failed), YOU NEED TO CALL PAYPAL and let them know you are getting an error message and they will do an security verification. After that it will work.

    I tried yesterday and today to process this using private browsing mode, vpn, different credit/debit cards and it only FINALLY worked after calling PayPal today.

    I hope I help people and save them time and grief with this comment.

      I got fed up with wait times on the phone! So shot them an email, which asked me to call them for verification. Then called them, and the lady asked me to explain everything (that was probably already in front of her screen). Then tried to complete the transaction and viola…. it got completed!

      So it seems both ebay and paypal might be locked with some security issues, and they need to check :S

      Ring PayPal to verify your account.
      Say you are getting error message trying to pay via PayPal
      and they will do a security check. It should then work for you.

          When you enter your credit card details manually into eBay for a purchase, they still use the PayPal system to process your payment, so you are still going to get issues.

          Like I said before, call PayPal quote your user ID and let them
          Know you are unable to make an eBay purchase. They will perform a security verification where they will probably get you to confirm your mobile number and send you an pin via SMS to confirm.
          Once this is done you should be able to login into PayPal
          At checkout and complete your purchase.

      If you're trying to buy ebay gift cards sold by paypal-digital-gifts, then everything I've seen says you MUST pay by paypal. Everyone that tries to pay directly with a card seems to have their payment marked as pending, and then later it gets declined.

    After a 15 min call to paypal I got it working!

    You need to call paypal and ask them to "run some security checks on your account"

    after this, they will send you a 6 digit security code which you need to tell the rep whilst on the phone!!!

    after this my paypal payment went through on desktop with chrome incognitio mode

    I tried to buy 500$ again but didn't work and was told it will take another 48 hours before I can repeat this "security check process".

    Hope this helps someone else :)

    Called PP twice today to get the unblock code reset. It worked twice managed to get code working. Tried a third time to call PP to unblock again, got the same guy as previous call. He said he can no longer unlock or reset. Account has been locked pending review. Reassured me it was not a long term thing and was just for this ebay issue. He received 100s of calls today to the same effect.

      Wait until you get an outcome. You should know if it fails within 15 minutes.
      If it fails you’ll need to call PayPal and say that you cannot process purchase via PayPal and want them to check if there is a security lock on your account.
      They will do a verification check and then when you re-do it, it should then work.

    I have been trying to buy $250 (200+50) gifts cards since last night. I just called PayPal and it took around 20 mins and they resolved the issue.

    I used UK address for the account and AU postal address as main delivery. I used my AU phone number and the PayPal that is linked to my AU account. I don't know if these variables are important but I hope the info can be helpful to someone else.

    When eBay charges 9 ~ 11% seller fees plus PayPal fees, as well as Amazon, newegg, I thought they were bad bad guys.

    ok, since you guys all said calling PP, I did so. The guy asnwered the call was obviously very exhasuted or tired of the D-DOS calls from all ozbargainers.
    I was asked streight forward 'are you going to purchase the gift cards on eBay UK?' I said yes, then I was told no, the purchase not going to go through, and there's no such thing called security check on account. Guess the guy has been exploited too much :(

    He might get a call every minute and don't have time for coffee or toliet, poor guy

    Since everyone suggests to call PP and ask for security check code, I just rang PP the 2nd time. he said the transaction has been blocked the only thing we can do is contact the seller for alternative payment method.

      eBay UK don't sell AU gift cards, but they let you buy AU gift cards being sold on eBay Australia.

      You have to use a UK based account and buy the cards through eBay UK in order to be able to use the POUNDSOFF promotional code which is only available for UK registered users through the UK eBay site.

    Called PP to get the security verification done as suggested by a few in the thread. The rep to that she can see the transaction on my Paypal but it was not blocked by Paypal but my bank. I tried paying with two different cards both resulting the same. She asked me to contact my bank and nothing she could do unfortunately :(

    Anyone getting eBay account suspension emails? I setup a new UK account to purchase giftcards, got the same Paypal can't process payment error like many people. I didn't bother calling Paypal immediately. Then a few hours later I got an email from eBay saying my account is suspended:

      If you've tried a wrong billing address to pay, then eBay would think you are stealing other people's card, and they are very likely suspend your account.

      i did it once in the morning, had to get a text to verify 500$ transaction which worked
      tried later this afternoon to get another 250 but they said on their end they cannot re-approve the transaction, suggested try again in 24 hr (but it will expire by then :(). So maybe just try get as much as you can and go for it. both times i got helpful people but some of the others ozbargainers didnt.

    Anyone having problems opening giftcards? I clicked on the emails and opened a few giftcards (for the code) and it was all fine. Then it stopped working - clicking on new emails bring me to a blank Paypal page. I've tried differene giftcard emails, different browser, even on my phone - all blank.

    Addit:

    Probably Paypal security feature. The first few GCs open directly, then subsequently ones need to go through reCapture security, then a few more (opening 8-9 GCs in quick succession) and it stopped working (blank page). Leave it for a few miutes and it works again. And the block is based on IP address. Taking my phone of wifi and using 4G allows access to the GCs.

    Just a heads up after going through 8 ebay UK accounts (fresh ones) and $4000 in ebay GC's , my secondary paypal and main paypal got suspended lol.

    My main one they unlocked within seconds of my call & ID docs (due to it being my main selling account, with tenure)

    but my secondary got flagged for their anti-money laundering thingo lol and had to submit a ridculous amount of ID info…

    Just be wary to not push the boundries like i did i guess…

        I opened three eBay UK new account tried to buy using my main paypal but PayPal keep refusing to work.

        I called them twice and their customer service says we can't do anything it is system that is declining your transaction!!!

        O then tried to just buy $1 worth item to make PayPal work but I didn't work either 😭

        Had used VPN and without VPN but PayPal didn't worked 😭
