2070

When you think of German sport shoe manufacturers starting with A, the first name that pops into your head is… Aldi

Sarah's favourite retailer has now branched out into hypebeast territory with a suave collection of black and grey runners fitted with Aldiboost™

TLDR; Aldi has picked up some cheap Ultraboost replicas because of the trade war and you my friend are the winner!

    These certainly aren't ultraboost replicas

Did anyone else typed "aldiboost review" in Google search or is it just me on a Sunday morning?

  • +23

Not sure about the shoes but that OP write up gets an up vote from me

    • +1

      Gets the people going

  • Lol looks like aldi also copied new balance with their own logo down the side

  • -1

Not just any replica… this is the primeknit. Which Adidas for for 260

  • +3

    Only sizes 8-11

    • Same with sandals.

Strange since work boots, I think, went to size 13.

    • Bugger

  • +53

I will buy these and wear them around as much as possible. It will irritate the snot out of my yeezpriceboost sneaker collecting daughter. I can't think of any other way to get more fun from a $20 spend.

    • +12

      Unless it's a pack of condoms :)

      • +6

Incest is frowned upon in this day and age.

search fashinreps on reddit or repladies

  • Upvote just for the brilliant rip off name.

  • Running. Jumping. Lifting heavy things. Teslac. It's alright for me, man.

  • +1

So this is what happens when a pair of crocs mate with some Dunlop KT26.

  • +5

ok my jaw literally dropped when I saw $19.95 for Adidas boost, then i finally relised its Aldiboost LMFAO

  • These shoes have peaked my interest but what i really wanna know is how good are the boost/foam technology in these shoes are? I’ve seen many 3rd party boost replicas on ebay. Are they all just the same? Is the real ultraboost way more superior in quality and comfort?

    • +28

      peaked my interest

      You mean "piqued my interest"

    • +5

      It's $19.99. Live a little and take a gamble :)
No serious runner should buy these with any expectation of sports performance. Just get them for kicks (ba dim tish).

      • -4

I’ve gambled alot already. Not looking too waste more money. Plus i have tons of shoes at home so it’s not so much about the money. Lack of space will make me consider whether i should even bother with the purchase.

        • -2

Now the negs simply dont make sense! Either there’s carry over from the trolls from b4 or there are very aggressive aldi fans!

          • +2

@OnepunchDan: Why would you even want to buy them if you have 'tons of shoes at home'

            • @rakeycakey: Exactly my point. Unless i see tremendous value in getting them if they are similar to the ultraboost quality which it appears to be not based on the comments.

    • +1

Is one of the most popular and best reviewed running shoes of the last five years that costs $150-250 better than a twenty buck knockoff from a weird discount supermarket?

      idk man.

    • Ultraboost are quite flexible. For example I can bend the toe of the ultraboost to the heel and it flexes fine. The ALDI ones are rock hard.

      • Is this one from the post the same model as the one your saying are Rock hard that you've seen from previous in store?

        • I beleive so, yes.

          • @AdamFury: That's a shame, do look better then the old ALDI runners I've seen in the past, they were really ugly before .

Better off waiting for Adidas sale again

    • Buy them and wear them for a month or so. Refund within 60 days if you're not happy. I love Aldi's return policy, so easy.

    • Most of them are all trash. However, you can get good replicas where the boost is pretty much the same for cheap if you know where to look.

  • Pretty disappointed that the sizes are only 8-11 (size 13)….

Not worth a down vote as it's still a great deal for a pair of trainers.

    Maybe next time….

    • Well, if you are interested, Skechers has a few pairs of size 13 in the $9 & $19 range… https://www.skechers.com.au/shop/sale/all-sale?isort=price

    • 8-11 is a ridiculously narrow range of sizing (I’m a 7).

      Clearly surplus stock from somewhere.

      • +5

        The shoe is men's.

    • +1

You know what they say, big feet means a big….

      I'm size 12

      • +1

        Shoe?

        • +1

          Sock?

      • Toes?

      • corns? blisters? toenails?

    • I hear you brother.
I am tired of us bigfoots being constantly discriminated against.
Many openly saying we do not even exist! It is shameful.

    • hi bought a puma evoknit, due to those knit shoes being basically material, they were about half a size to one size too small. might be the same situation here.

      • Should say too big… Not too small

  • -6

There could potentially be some of agreement with Adidas here as it is pretty similar sounding to ultraboost and surely could be sued. Any lawyers here to comment? As we know, most of Aldi's similar looking products are made by the companies that makes the other brand that it looks like. This could even be made by Adidas but at much lower or different specs. It will be very interesting to see

    • +12

They're not actually called Aldiboost :P

    • Ohhh okay my bad, I hadn't got out of bed yet. Only having a coffee now with my $89 Nespresso :) :) :) knowing I got that deal makes the coffee taste that much better!

Still you never know…so many big brands do make for Aldi, sometimes identical and sometimes at different spec. I have a friend that works at one of the big brands and he said they don't necessarily like it, but they have to make for the home brands for Coles and Woolworths as well as Aldi, as if they don't do it, a competitor will get the contract.

Aldi's stock vanilla ice cream (1L) is made by one of the big companies here locally and has even better spec than that companies own. Aldi demands that real cream is used in their vanilla ice cream, not just milk powder.

  • So any comments from anyone who has bought a pair?

    • +1

I've owned previous runners from Aldi and they have held up really well. They were not the same style as these however, these look like a new offering

  • +9

Ever feel like you are getting too old to keep pace with the kids of today references. Sarah? hypebeast? All this tommy rot from these young scallywags. Blimey.

  • If not for the photo, I would've thought they came up with their own smoothie.

    • +15

I think you'll find most shoes priced many times higher than this having their origins in China.

Me: "Mum plz I want a pair of ultraboosts"
Mum: "We already have ultraboosts at home"

    Ultraboosts at home:

    • -4

Tell me about it. The whole place is just a marketing ploy.

      • +3

Yes, a giant century-old multionational with competitive pricing is just a 'marketing ploy.'

        • -2

          Your being brainwashed my friend.

          • @[Deactivated]:

Your (sic) being brainwashed my friend.

Yup. I'm being brainwashed into thinking my staples are actually cheaper at Aldi. After all, 2 + 2 = 5.

            • -2

              @SydStrand: Negged

    • Have you tried these before?

    • +1

Most Aldi food products are made by the big brands that you are buying at Coles or Woolworths

      • +6

There’s probably no chance this is made by a big brand shoe manufacturer like nike or adidas

  • +1

Maybe Aldibirds could be another pretend name

  • Clout Level > Coles,Woolies,IGA

  • +2

I tried some of these last time ALDI stocked them and they were nothing close to my actual Ultraboost. But hey for $20.

  • +1

OP these are 19s please update title.

  • +4

Aldiboost doesn't quite roll off the tongue, though there's an Aldidas joke somewhere here.

    • I find Aldiboost rolls better.

  • Aldi shoes are worth every penny you pay for them, much like some of their electrical stuff and light bulbs. Very suitable for those with low expectations. Btw if you were thinking about trying their German Rosti….keep thinking.

  • do these shoes get trashed after 1 run

  • … my neighbor is wearing what looks like some of the other ALDI clothes items but aged… Secret Oktoberfest uniform? Not a bad look for >$60

  • +3

if anything these probably highlight the profit margin on regular ultraboosts, everyone's getting fleeced lmao

    • Well-said.

  • Why do companies spend thousands on advertising when I can be sold on some shoes from a post like this.

  • +2

What a rip-off! Check r/Repsneakers; FashionCrew sell Aldiboost reps for 39 yuan.

  • +1

These may not actually be 'boost' material. Boost soles were developed by Adidas and Puma, and if I remember right Adidas stiffed Puma on the deal and released it early and created the cult following. Puma calls theirs NRGY and are substantially cheaper than Adidas versions. I own both and I actually really like the feel of pumas, but Adidas are arguably 'better looking'. But much of a muchness tbh.

Edit: bit of googling and found this as an example. Probably even qualifies as an ozbargain find. https://sportspowergeelong.com.au/products/pum-19109506-06
