As this is pretty much a weekly occurrence, is it really much of a deal anymore? It just seems like the standard pricing.

    • +2

      Really? E580 hasn't been posted in 7 months…

      • +11

Is it really that much different than the E495/595 though? It's just a choice of CPU but basically the same price.

Edit: jeez Louis, don't dare talk ill of TA and their deals 'round these parts!

        • -2

          Someone's salty.

          • @RSmith: The only salty people here are potential buyers of this device thinking they're getting an exclusive deal, simply because an affiliate of Lenovo posted it.

            • -1

@magic8ballgag: Is it a good price though? Can it be obtained cheaper?

            • @magic8ballgag: It's usually $100 cheaper than Lenovo website so nothing to complain about it

        • +2

How dare you question TA's deals.
He does come out with a deal about once a week or two but with a different notebook. I don't thing "the same" notebook deal has ever come out less than 5 weeks apart.

    It's not to bad.

  • Thanks TA! I'm gonna consistently upvote these great deals until the thinkpad of my dreams get listed/relisted again :D.
    E490s, T490, T490s.

      up 1 for T490s

      • Been looking for a lightweight powerful computer, looks like a good option. currently 15% off at $1997, what price would you both be waiting for?

        • +2

i listed those models in order of preference. I do like the body of the T490s the best, but soldered on ram isn't ideal - which means I'll probably have to select 16gb ram and pay a premium on that. the e490s is ~1.2mm thicker but I can BYO ram that I already have.

I'll pull the trigger on the T490s if it were under $1.5k. $1.2k for the T490 and $1k for the E490s (TA got close on the last one). i7 variants on all of em, windows 10 pro would be bonus.

        • +2

TA's deals are all around 40% to 45% off so some where close to that.

    • Same but X1E

I am still confused between which processor is better. Core i5 or AMD 3500. It’s for non gaming general office use and browsing

    • ditto - am also interested

as below there's also a E595 offered at comparable pricing

    • For office and browsing? You'll never be able to tell the two apart, it doesn't matter

  • +4

the E595 is on sale for $769
    https://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/119256

    • Ooo.. thank you.

    • Whats the difference between the two, besides the Ryzen chip?

      • +5

Very similar performance, but the iGPU on the Ryzen is about twice as fast as the intel. So on the Ryzen system you can actually play some games on lowish settings.

  • +9

Probably better off waiting for an E590 deal, since that's superseded this model. Like this deal from less than a month ago, newer CPU and double the capacity of the SSD for ~$30 more after cashback.

Does anyone know if there any Thinkpad models with backlit keyboards at a similar price/performance ratio to this?

    • +1

The S version of this thinkpads come with backlit with a $100-200 premium but you get other things such as slimmer profiles and a generally better product.

    • +1

The newer E590 does, checkout the comment directly above yours for details.

    • This one has it, or at least some configurations of this have the option according to Lenovo

  • What's the battery life like on these?

  • According to some review the screen is good for office use but not for movies and videos. My search continues then.

  • +1

Might be clearing 2018 stock. This year's model is E490 and E590.
I believe the 2019 model will be discounted when machines with Intel's Comet-Lake processors are available for purchase

    • how does this compare with the lenovo? e580?
      seems to matchan i3 7100?
      US Dollar

      361 USD

      533.79 AUD?

  • Seems the coupon code is no longer valid now. Anyone has the same issue?
