  • Hey cittris, any updates from PayPal or OFT?

    • Hey KayDat, sorry i haven't reported back, haven't be well. Staring at the computer screen hurts my head lol.

      Anyway, Monday evening OFT (Denise) called me. I told her about the bullying to close the paypal dispute. We further discussed the case. She basically said, if i want my phone just do what they say. Now she cannot directly advise me that but yeah that was the impression i got, that pursuing this would be a waste of my time. OFT said that the reason they want me to close my dispute is because if they send my phone, i or Paypal can get a refund also. Since I escalated the dispute PayPal can issue a refund against SS' will. I thought fair enough, that does make sense.

      So i discussed with me mates who were with me and they were like just close your dispute and get your phone and after speaking to the OFT i was in that mindset as well.

      SO! I closed my dispute with paypal. This is at approx 6PM. I then called SS and Christine answers. I then say "this is Tristian and my order# is…" she stops me and says "is this the same Tristian i have been dealing with online?" I said the very same, a bit surprised i was. I said i have closed my dispute. To which she said thank-you. She continued by explaining why she needed me to close it, which was exactly what OFT said. She said, they had sent the phone to someone last week and they requested a refund after that so they were down a phone and the money. I said that's fine i understand. She then said can i place you on hold i am going to try and get your phone sent out now.

      After a bit of back and forth, she came back and said that they are OUT OF STOCK! I think she expected me to explode especially since i was on the phone. I just said "right" they she said they are getting stock on Wednesday and the phone will be sent out express (like everyone else) and i will receive it on Friday.
      To which i said "no problems" in a monotone voice. That was it. I got off the phone and laughed, in fact i haven't laughed like that in ages. I don't think they can disappoint me anymore. If they sent me a dummy phone, i'd be like "well atleast it's a SGS II" haha. I must say she was insanely nice to me on the phone.

      So yeah, I wanted to pursue this further but the OFT just made it seem so pointless. OFT said "if you want your money, you are doing the right thing. If you want your phone you know what you have to do"

      • she came back and said that they are OUT OF STOCK!

        gold lol. After that it would have been better if she'd said… "we are expecting stock in about 3-4 weeks" now that would have been pure gold.

  • Well, I got a call from OFT this arvo. Sounded to me like they may investigate SS's business practice but nothing will happen. I don't think SS will even get a slap on the wrist for their wrongdoings.

    Dissappointed with the service, disappointed with OFT but happy with the phone.

    • Just missed a call from Denise, voice mail says that SS have advised them (OFT) the phones have been sent out and to let them know if this has been the case. Going to call back and tell them I haven't had any updates from SS, nor any packages yet.

      • Well after chatting with OFT & Jason Chen (SS's operations manager), looks like I'll be dropping the PayPal dispute. Jason said that I have his word, and that OFT is on the case so even if I don't trust him I still have OFT's protection. Once dispute/claim is dropped phone should be in my hands within two days.
        Honestly not happy with how SS have handled it, but I want my phone damnit!

  • I don't know why they asking you guys to drop the paypal dispute first before they will post the phone. Even if someone does not close the dispute after receiving the phone from shopping square; All they (SS) need to send paypal is the post tracking information and paypal will close the dispute themselves.

    • You raise a good point, and I mentioned that to the manager (this problem is on your end, not PayPal etc. etc.) but he just stone walled me, says unless money is released nothing is going to happen, it's held up in the system blah blah blah. I'm just sick of the whole thing, and OFT is breathing down their neck already, so I just let it go. If they don't hold up their end of the bargain, I'll be calling OFT again. Actually, I'm supposed to call OFT when I get the phone, so I guess they're keeping an eye on the whole thing.

    Finally get my phone today…….and there is a defect in the screen….

    Argh!!!!!!

  • Well my phone was supposed to be sent yesterday and i was supposed to receive it tomorrow.

    That didn't happen. Who's surprised?

    • Got my dispatch email this arvo @ 5:41pm. Earliest I'll get it is next week.

      • Get out! sigh… This is just crazy!

        EDIT: Never received an email but mine has been dispatched also according to the order.

        • Sealed package, adaptor included like everyone else. Learning my way around Android, otherwise great phone.

          Funny story: my phone case came a week and a half before my phone.

        • I like the phone a lot. very fast and heaps better than my galaxy s. could have been a much better deal.

    • Has anyone compared the phone they received to a local model?
      I've noticed mine has a green tint to the screen when on even a slight angle (vertically or horizontally), mostly visible with a white background (eg. blank browser window). Anyone else have this, or is mine faulty. Local model didn't have this problem.
