    Lol why

    • +3

Same reason Woolworths and Coles do it. Easy money.

    • +7

Cause Amazon in the US does it. :P

And now that Kogan does it, Catch will do it soon :P

  • +2

Nice. Just don’t miss a payment date, unless you want the crazy high 21% interest rate.

    • +10

This isnt exclusive to this card.

      • Obviously. But there are cards with much lower interest.

        • Not really. 20%~ is pretty standard if you want good rewards/joining bonuses

$3000 spend for net $300 return. No thanks

    • +7

can you get a better return elsewhere?

    • +4

10% return in 3 months, for standard household spend, no brainer.
      or 0% balance transfer… mmmm,…

  • Looks like this beats out Citi's Kogan promotion which was a $49 annual fee + $400 Kogan cashback.
This one is $0 annual fee + $300 Kogan credit + Kogan first membership.

One disadvantage is that the card earns Kogan points which you can only redeem as Kogan credit or Credit Card payments, but hey it's free who cares?

    • Was there a minimum spend with Citi?

      • I couldn't find one, but that probably sounds too good to be true!

    • Possibly worth it for the $300 credit, but the rewards points will be useless. At least QFF and Velocity have a fairly defined value.

    • You can redeem your points in one of two ways.

Redeem your rewards points for eligible purchases made on Kogan.com. Register your Kogan Money credit card for “Shop with Points” with your Kogan.com account and this option will be available at checkout for eligible purchases.6

Redeem your rewards points for Kogan Money credit card payments made at www.koganmobile.com.au and www.koganinternet.com.au. Login in to your credit card account online or on your mobile app, select the eligible credit card payment and follow the instructions to pay with your rewards points.7

Ie can use rewards for internet or mobile

I care to have one more credit card under my name eat up my credit limit, this may lead to a rejection on a further CC application.

  • this is the cheapest black card, well worth it for street cred alone (just mark off the 'kogan' word)

I will use my label maker to make the "Kogan" into a "Bogan"

  • Kogan Money Credit Cards are issued by Citigroup Pty Limited.

It is a pretty good zero annual fee card if you do not have a Citibank issued/backed card at the moment.

    • Are existing Citibank cardholders ineligible?

      • +1

Not really, I got the feeling of higher chance of being declined for having one of their credit cards.

        • +1

My experience, don't apply for more than 2 Citi cards at any one time. Instant rejection…and dealing with Citi ..blurghhh..

Good deal here though. Effective free mobile / data for paying your bills .

      • +2

I have the Coles MasterCard for over 2 years, and got rejected for a Citibank card a few months ago. Then I applied for a Virgin card and was also rejected, when I called up to ask why, they said it was because I could not apply for another Citi backed card within 6 months after the Citi rejection.

Going to steer clear of any Citi backed card in the future, it's just not worth the hassle

Unfortunately, based on the information you provided, we are unable to approve your application at this time.

      • +1

Thanks! I'm guessing this is the same con job as other citi cards, where they only accept people with bad credit or likely to make them money..

  • Too bad it's not the infinity Visa.

    • ?!

Too bad it's not the Amex Centurion card.

  • Please note that if you have a balance transfer, you will be charged interest on any spend that you make.

Cant find how much they charged

  • wow this company doing all business available

  • Easy $300 kogan credit.

Why are a few people hating on this? Every bank does this & it gets posted on here.

    I'm assuming it's credit, not a Cashback & that it's kogan.

    • +3

Probably because we all hate Citibank

(They are to banking what Ben and Jerry's is to ice cream promotions)

  • Can i get this with a bad credit score? If not which one should i get to improve my score?

    • Coles credit card (also issued by Citibank) is easy to get.

Better get on the call to Ruslan. My application got rejected as well :(

    • Scotty: Hi Mr Kogan, I am Scotty from Ozbargain. My Kogan credit card application got rejected for no reason.
Ruslan: The Scotty from ozbargain? There must be some mistake. I can fix that for you asap, how many zeroes do you need for your credit card?

      minutes later….
Congratulations your credit card has been approved!

      *fingers crossed

scotty: Hi Ruslan my mate, this is Scotty from OzB…

The other end of the phone: <muttered profanity> <hangup beep>

  • Lets say if you sign up and you receive your CC after approval, you spend requisite amount of money, and receive your credit. Are there any cons if you surrender the card after 6 months or even 1 year?

    • +1

I’ve been doing this with credit cards for years.

      • So i reckon no impact on your credit ratings?

        • +1

Depends on the institution I think. There was an instance where Citi declined me and I couldn’t apply for another 6 months. This is due to their requirements. I since found out they thought I had an old active card with 15k credit limit and they thought I wasn’t being honest in my application.

  • Wow any tom, dick and Harry company can have their own credit card.

    How interesting.

I wonder when is Star City's " U O US 4 LIFE" black credit card launching.

  • Applied yesterday, phone call midday today, approved this afternoon.
And I have a 15k card with citi that I didn't mention, only mentioned another 10k card I have.
I didn't not mention it on purpose, I was going to do the balance transfer but then it didn't work as I was hoping and at that point it was already submitted.

    • And shipped this morning apparently. V quick turn around.

  • +1

How long does the Kogan credit last for and do you have to use it in one go?
What is it 1000 points = 7c back which i think normal Citi cards are?

  • +1

Just received the card today, however find some glitches on the card.
Not able to receive the one-time pin via the Kogan money app at all.
And not sure how to get the free Kogan first membership on the existing Kogan account.
Cannot find the answer anywhere, very frustrating…

    • I've found those same two issues. Level 1 customer service wasn't able to help with either issue, but said a team is working on the app OTP issue. In the meantime, I think all of the functions of the app are replicated at cards.koganmoney.com.au. They also said that existing accounts are not eligible for the free Kogan First, but I think they were just guessing based on the T&C wording which talks about how a new Kogan account will be made for people who don't have one already.

    • +1

      Same and same.
I contacted them via chat and they confirmed sma code is broken.

They couldn't tell me how to activate the free Kogan first membership.
My card is linked to my existing Kogan account and I can see my points there to use (spent the $3k and got $30 worth of credit)

      • Good that at least we know what the points worth, thanks!

    • +1

I logged into my Kogan account , clicked on credit card and saved my credit card

There was the usual drop down for master card, visa and also Kogan black

I selected Kogan black there was a tick box to activate Kogan FIRST

      Got a sms confirmation

      Hope that helps

      • Thanks for this. I'm not able to find the screens you're referring to. Closest I can find are "My Account">>"Saved Credit Cards", or "My Account">>"Card Rewards", but neither of those pages include a drop-down box with "Mastercard", "VISA" and "Kogan Black".

Would you be able to give some more detail on the exact page you went to?

        • Sorry man I wrote my reply from memory

If you save your Kogan credit card details in saved credit cards it should work

          • @roseXivy: No worries! I think I've done that same process of linking my Kogan card (via "My Account" >> "Card Rewards"), but didn't get shown the tick box to activate First. Some issue associated with my account, but not yours, maybe. Thanks again for the info.

  • +1

Fantastic then I read it was through Citi (… Those bastards hate card churners)

  • Anyone figure out how to activate the Kogan First member onto your Kogan account? I've already got the credit card approved.

    • +1

No. Neither Kogan money or kogan.com customer support know how to.
They just emailed me saying they're still looking into this.

I think we need to go to ACCC or the ombudsman because they have offered a perk they cannot honour

    • Latest response:

      Hi xxxxx

Thank you for your continued patience.

Kogan Money is a separate division of Kogan.com, with their own dedicated team of specialists.

As we do not have visibility over your account details, I'd recommend contacting them directly through their help centre here.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
      Kindest regards,

      Michael

I spoke with Kogan money again and they said your kogan.com account needs to be using the same email address as your Kogan money account.
I did this and relinked my card and it looks like it's working now

      • Hi, good to hear that your Kogan first member is working now.
I spoke to them and they fixed the problem of one-time pin in the App by de-register and register the username.
However for the Kogan first membership, I re-linked my card under your suggestion, it is still not appearing the Kogan first membership and still asking me to purchase the membership.
Just wondering is there any step I am missing?
        Thanks in advance!!!

        • Is your account using the same email on both money and Kogan.com?

          • @edrift: Yes.
But the money account I am using a username to login, not the email address. Maybe for the username in money account i need to use email address to login?

            • @jekyxmj: I use my email address to login to kogan.com but my username to log into Kogan money

              • @edrift: I just changed the money account username to the same email address. And re-link the card rewards in Kogan account. Still does not work, very frustrated..

  • Is there a way around using BPay for the balance transfer? I don't have it setup, and the "establishment fee" from Westpac is $150+gst.

  • 9 rejection comments in this topic! Ozbargain should petition Ruslan to hookup with a decent bank.

  • +1

    So for those having trouble linking their card;

Step 1 - your kogan.com and koganmoney needs to use the same email address.
Step 2 - On kogan.com, navigate to 'My account', 'Cash Rewards' 'Link Card'
Step 3 - Enter in your kogan black card details and 'link card'
Step 4 - Your Kogan First is up and running.

    • Thanks, this worked for me. Now to spend my 3k and see if they come to the party

    • I have tried the above steps at least 5 times; however it is still does not work for me.
I am sure I am using the same email address as the user name and contract email address for both kogan and koganMoney.
      Frustrated.

  • Has anyone received their $300 bonus credit yet?
I spent the $3k within the first week but haven't gotten anything yet.
Also received my first bill too.

For what it's worth, Kogan money credit card points give you 1c of kogan.com credit for every dollar spent on the card.
Conversely, Citibank credit card points give you significantly less ( about a third?). So it's not worth linking you Citibank credit card to Kogan.com

    • Typically for these types of rewards you need to wait until after the 90 days… I just received my card … time to spend!

    • +1

I think the Ts&Cs said you'd get the gift card 12 weeks after the 90 day period. So you're looking at six months by the looks of it. Never seen one that brutal. I reached my min spend in mid-October and haven't received the card yet.

      • I enquired about it and they interpreted my enquiry as a complaint and lodged a complaint on my behalf.

        • Any update on your $300 bonus credit? Just reached minimum spend and wanted something for Christmas

          • +1

            @Darkii: Nothing yet

          • +1

@Darkii: I got the CC almost immediately, blew the minimum spend almost immediately,
            still nothing

            • @georgesc: Looks like we might need to wait the 90 days + 10 weeks for the credit to come through…I should've read the T&C before committing.

I just emailed Kogan Money for clarification of when we'll receive the bonus, will keep you guys updated. Let us know if you receive your signup bonus

  • For anyone who wasn't able to activate the free Kogan First membership: it seems like they have worked out a fix. I hadn't been able to activate the free membership, but today I got an email with the subject "Unlock Benefits of your Kogan Credit Card!" which asked me to link my Kogan Money card to my Kogan account. After receiving that email, these were the steps I took which got Kogan First activated successfully:

    1. Unlinked my Kogan Money card from my Kogan account (My Account >> Card Rewards >> UNLINK CARD)
    2. Clicked the 'Activate' button in the email received
    3. Filled in details for my Kogan Money card, including ticking the 'Activate Kogan First membership' box
  • This has been updated for the black friday sales.

    $500 voucher for $500 spend in 30days.

    This is a go'er

  • just checking in - has anyone received their credit yet? Cheers
