    • Yes, business address that uses HP gear. Maybe that is the difference but they would have to manually check each of these.

    • Yes I did, used business name for order. Also signed up for an account. Looks like its comming, all seems ok.

  • Strange, i can't track my order, i can see the order before and after mine with the "Admin" status…

  • I can't see my order in theorder status page either.
I can only see it in my order history

  • same here. can not see my order except under history.
I can see everyone elses' orders just fine

    • same happened to me, it disappeared yesterday showing "no order found" but appeared on my order history, checked a few minutes ago and its now showing Admin and Date to follow.

This would have been great about 6 months ago, I bought an ex lease HP Dc7800 SFF desktop from work. Stuck 3 x 2tb drives in it for my home server. For those concerned with a 150w power supply, it's most likely the guts of a laptop. Which is essentially what HP do with their USFF pc's. Laptop board, ram, hdd and external laptop power supply.

    • +5

No, this is sever grade hardware. The PSU is a proper 1U rackmount server supply. This simply cannot be compared to USFF consumer grade rubbish, of which HP are renowned for (consumer grade rubbish that is).

    • It's not the guts of a laptop. Just look at the processor.
      Enjoy your power bill. :)
The 7800 is a few years old too. You're reaching the other end of the bell curve.

      • +1

        Just look at the processor

Actually the processor is originally a laptop part, its the only laptop part in the whole server lol.

But good laptop processors these days have all the important features built-in anyway (multi-core, VT, 64bit) and they also have power saving features, of which traditional server CPUs don't until recently.

I got email saying "Thank you for ordering online from the HP store. Your order is currently being processed". Lets hope all goes well. Ordered 1 unit.

  • -5

I think all the good looking people got confirmation orders (i.e me) :D

  • Does anyone know if this will support Win 2008 R2 64bit? (I will upgrade the RAM of course)

    Thanks

  • Anyone heard of any further cancellations today? I am still in "admin" so I don't know which way it is going. Be nice to start to get organised with HDD and ram if it is going to arrive.

    • Nope, mine is still in "Admin" as well :(

    • Same here… Still Admin… Lets hope they add "being delivered" or something to it… I'd hate to buy ram for it etc. then find it has been canceled.

      • Just got email confirmation order is being processed :D

  • +1

I just got shipping confirmation! If you have Admin and Date to follow on your order status, you're looking good

  • my status changed to Admin this morning and just received the email of 'being processed', SCPO3139xx

  • Money has just cleared from my credit card for order SCPO3135xx. Status is still admin, date will follow. Can anyone confirm if they have received the 'being processed' email and then had their order cancelled? Or did everyone who had their order cancelled only receive the cancellation email after the initial order confirmation.

    • My cc just been debited as well,SCPO3132XX.
Status is still admin, date will follow.
Email re processing confirmation 24 hours ago

  • From the comments here, it seems I'm one of the few where my order was canned…

    :(

    • i am also one of the few :(

did you order more than 1?

  • My order status is still showing as submitted. Ordered 1 on the 13th. Is anyone in the same boat?

    • Yep, I'm in the boat.

  • They have taken payment off my credit card so its no longer pending. Hopefully it ships soon :D

  • I got charged on cc, can't find my order on "order status"
Can only see it as submitted in order history

    • try date as "7/12/11" ie no zero in front of the 7.

    • Just called up 132 347 option 2.

The response was that there was an error with my order and they are in the process or retifying it.
And I will get a new order number and processing confirmation on Monday.

  • Techie question, how will it perform if you put a 16GB drive on to the USB on MB and always boot of it. How far is it from the performance of a SSD as a boot device? Also all the Low Profile HDMI cards seem to need much more than 150Watt power in their spec. How do you overcome that?

      • Great link for graphic cards thanks.

      • take out the word hdmi and it's even cheaper (while still having hdmi)

    • that would depend on your OS. Freenas works just fine off a usb key.
USB key vs SSD is chalk and cheese plus its usb2 vs sata.
hdmi card? if you mean a gfx card then power isn't a problem, get a passive card cos there's not much room in that box.

      • Sure the SATA vs USB thing is fine but in real terms you can use that to boot off and that can be another drive that you could make use of. Of course the comparison is poor but my point was more towards using USB boot and using HDD for other things.

What do you mean by a passive card? Any links?

        • Something like the RADEON HD5450? Has HDMI. Has anyone tried one?

        • I was planning on a 5450 or a 210, whatever I can get cheaper.

        • Radeon HD5450 is about $39 for the 1gig version which is pretty cheap …

this is what i plan to get ;)

          4x2tb hdds .. bout $80 each

          2x4gb ram .. bout $80 each

should be nice enough to do whatever i wanna throw at it .. lol

        • +2

Passive refers to the cooling which means no fan.

Some people have put Low Profile Radeon 6450's in them as well. Includes 7.1 sound and does DXVA so 1080p MKV's, bluray etc.'s are no problem with the right software. And apparently CPU is powerful enough to stream and convert them too, but will have to wait and see on that.

      • how about the sound? there is not sound card coming with the box

        • Sound via hdmi :)

        • like Redmo0n says or get a USB sound dongle.

I wrote a script to crawl through the orders. I didnt bother to go through all but picked a decent sample.

It looks like pretty much all the orders of more than 1 unit are cancelled. There are some exceptions to this but they seem very rare.

There are also plenty of single orders cancelled. I cant see a pattern for this.

    Cant see any shipped yet.

    • wow that's dedication! :)

i'm one of the lucky ones with 2 units on the way, only reason i wouldn't have been cancelled is that i used a business address which may have also received several HP workstations… but i doubt they check to that level of detail. my money's on random

    • great work! the ocau thread has some recent confirmation of delivery ie sent not arrived yet. Also no recent indications of cancellation. I am hoping if you haven't heard you are cancelled you have a good chance.

    • Good work, let us know of any status movements when you run the script the next time.

    • Just out of interest gordy, what sort of numbers are we talking about for "orders of more than 1", were people ordering 10 or more?

      • I remember someone mentioned they found an order of 60 somewhere further back in the thread.

        • wow, didnt expect so many comments!

I only took a sample. I didnt want to crawl through all orders!

          From that sample I see:
          CANCELED:
100% orders of >2 servers CANCELED
About 30% of are for 1 server only.
The other 70% are for numbers from 3 to 5 servers.

          Submitted:
          No orders above 2 servers.
30% of submitted orders are for 2 servers.
The other 70% are for 1.

The ratio of Submitted/CANCELED is around 60/40.

        • to simplify the data for the sample that you took:

          1 server: 78% chance
          2 servers: 100% chance
          3+ servers: 0% chance

        • not sure where you got your stats.

my order of 3 servers is still in submitted stage

        • cyrax83, my data was just a random sample. For all I know there could be 100 orders for 10 servers that are submitted. I did say that I didnt want to crawl through all orders. Just wanted to get some ideas of what was going on.

Also, the comment about "2 servers: 100% chance" isnt correct. Of the sample I took (~80 orders), there were 6 cancelled for "2" servers.

  • +1

OK, so finally my order has moved from Submitted to 'Admin' today with 'date will follow', yay!
I subscribed to HP at tech-ed a few years ago so have been getting their random mailouts, so they have my work address registered with them..but don't think that has any bearing to processed orders….

    • Same here. Bought a business notebook back in 2004 and forgotten that I had a login. But I ordered one microserver at ~5:00am 13/7/11 and my order has the same status as yours. Missed out on the earlier deals before, so fingers crossed.

HP have given themselves 14-day delivery turnaround. From the lucky guys who ordered from HP earlier, what was the delivery turnaround like?

  • How do you know if the order is progressing along?
    Mine just says…

    Item,Product,Description,Order Qty,Partial Qty,Delivery Date, Item ,Status, Shipment,Invoice#,Requested Date
    0100,633724-011,HP ProLiant N36L 1P 1GB-U Emb SATA NHP SATA 250GB LFF 150W PS MicroServer,1,1,14-Jul-2011,Submitted

So nothing for Shipment, Invoice#, Requested Date. And Status just sitting at submitted?

Edit: Just saw bargain_finder's post. So I guess I'll just wait and see how it pans out.

  • -1

Damn HP. Cancelled my order with no reason. Never go for HP again.

    • what status was your order under?

  • Guys, I just called HP. I wanted to cancel my order, because I have got one from CWorld. The guy mentioned that you were only allowed to order one server, so if you have more than one and your order has not been processed.. It's not looking good.

  • for anyone who missed out cheapest i could find was http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270784…

    • No wonder they run out…. this guy has 200 units on order.

  • Well, so far the stories are:

    • only limited to 1/customer
    • coupon expired
    • coupon not for you

They cancelled mine with no email and I got the first 2 excuses when I called.

Snot it. I'm now checking out bits and pieces I can hit a pc yumcha shop up for. Might pull a bit more juice but at least it'll be more capable and I'll get it.

    • Sorry to ehar youmissed out.

Did you get the 2nd confirming email or only the first one? Mine is still stuck at Admin status and I am wondering whether I should be looking elsewhere.

  • order status still:

    0100 633724-011 HP Micro G7 N36L NHP 250GB AUS Svr 1 1 date will follow Admin 14-Jul-2011

Nothing happening so far. Wonder if they will just cancel all orders.

  • I have bought one last week from cworld for $245 with free shipment. They must have decided to slip in $19 shipping fee since it became popular. I don't like that sneaky tactic.

  • Still on admin status after 6 days, is this progressing for anyone, any deliveries yet ?

    • after 4 business days … and the email did say … allow 14 days for delivery …
no change on mine as well … still says Admin … wait & watch I guess

      • i check this thread a couple of times a day to see if anyone has changes, along with my email account of course. still nothing for me either. i'm with ozblogger though- willing to wait 14 days until getting more concerned. i'm just happy that it's not 'cancelled' like others.

  • Anyone's status still on Submitted? Should I call to check on it? I ordered only one and I ordered quite early. If it gets cancelled I'll get one from elsewhere.

    • Did HP charge your credit card?

      • Nope, not charged.

      • my CC was charged on the 13th, showed up on the visa account online.
just checked it now, 19th, no record of charge or reversal on the visa account???
BTW my CC was charged before i got the cancellation email.
Reason for cancellation: CC would not authorise?

        • Just to clarify, you said you were charged on the 13th. Ont he 19th, you said no record of charge or reversal. Does that mean that the original charge disappeared by the 19th?

My CC was charged on 13th and so far no changes or reversals so it looks good.

        • @skyva, yes, now no record of charge or reversal.
my argument with HP after i recieved thte cancellation email was "how could you cancel my order on the grounds of CC not authorising when the CC was Charged by HP??"

        • The amount deducted on the 13th was most likely an authorisation hold, not an actual charge. Authorisation holds are a standard practice within the banking industry.

If the merchant decides not to follow through with the transaction, then the authorisation hold "falls off" and the amount is made available to you again.

      • MY Amex was charged the same day I ordered it (12/07) and I am in Admin status. Have just received my Amex statement and the $199 is still on it. I am also waiting out the 14 days and hope to receive a box with a HP logo on it by then (early next week).

        • Guess I'll give them a call, and if it gets cancelled it gets cancelled. No point sitting here in denial. =)

Might just order one from cworld, still a good price that.

    • Confirming that mine got cancelled.

      Is cworld's the best price?

      • how many you ordered? >1?

        • He said only one

        • Ya only 1. If you status is still on Submitted, go take a look now, should be updated to Cancelled. I didn't even get to calling them. No email from them either.

        • mine's still saying admin

        • mine too…. credit card payment not reversed, only ordered 1.

  • I ordered 2.. mine is in Admin stage! Order went through as I got an email saying my order has been processed!

    -=NOT GOOD NEWS=-

    Brief version:
I just called HP customer service, they guy said they won't be getting stock in until mid-August. I've asked for a refund to my CC which he did no worries.

    Long version:
I got tired of having my order in "Admin" status (I ordered one unit, with no registration, by CC, and got charged that same day), and called the Home & Home Office sales number listed on http://www8.hp.com/au/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#sectio… to find out what was going on. Menu option 2 got me through to a dude who told me that they didn't have any stock until mid-August, my “Admin” order status wouldn’t change until they came in, and in fact "most people's" orders won't be despatched until then. I double-checked this with him by asking (incredulously) if he meant it wouldn’t be shipped for about another three weeks, which he confirmed. I thought this lack of communication was a bit ridiculous and since I’m impatient, I got him to cancel my order [If someone could repost this info to Whirlpool / OCAU I’d appreciate it, I'm not registered there].

Anyways, given I’ve already bought my RAM, optical drive, 5450 graphics card and wireless PCI 1x card, I’m still going to get one of these, just from elsewhere. A quick search reveals these as the cheapest going replacements with stock due before the end of the month (shipping to metro Perth):

$260.00 with free P/H - eBay - stock not due until 21st July
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270784…

    $264.00 = $245.00 + 19.00 P/H - CWorld - stock not due until 21st July
    http://www.cworld.com.au/product_info.php?ID=175014

    $306.60 = $269.00 + 37.60 P/H - Dessytek - stock available
    http://www.dessytek.com.au/store.php?desc=HP-633724-011&spec…

    • Thanks for the update, but my concern is that the ebay sellers and Cworld are all banking on selling the same stock we are meant to be getting. So if HO says sorry for th delay to you, they will say sorry for teh delay to cworld as well, and guess what you will hear…

I agree with your strategy as long as we are not all in the same boat but just dealing with different resellers.
Sad all around. You expect this from bottom end suppliers.

      • Hopefully not. I cancelled my order simply out of spite, I couldn't believe HP were just gonna leave us hanging for three weeks with no communication. Fingers crossed CWorld (via eBay) aren't lying through their teeth about their restock date. :/

        • I'd have been happy to take over your HP order. =)

    • dupe

    • Thanks for the update, guess I will be waiting for the stock, as I actually have not decided what to use this sever for, haha.

    • +1

      Thanks fer ya update…

      Re-posted on WP & OCAU

    • Of course.

CWorld: "We have been advised by HP this morning that delivery date of the Microservers has been revised to Thursday 28th July 2011."

Meh, I'm still happy to pay the extra $60 just to spite HP.

  • I don't need it urgently, so I can wait for stock. Just disapointed with the lack of communication from HP.

  • +1

Meh…. a bargain is a bargain, and in 3 weeks from now this unit at $200 will still be cheap. Very annoyed that I had to hear this from another customer and not HP directly, but hey- maybe that's what they want, people cancelling their orders out of frustration.

Companies normally dont tell customers "we dont want your money, your order is cancelled". And as they've done this to A LOT of people on this deal, I'm thinking that they arent making money from it so would actually prefer cancellations.

But thanks again to Seboya for his post, at least the rest of us still waiting know what's going on now.

  • +1

It is funny to see how price affects the way a company treats you. A company like HP, which is not bargain basement, should nromally have high standards, but when the price is low, they take on the personailty of a bargain basement seller. The problem for them is that we remember how we were treated, so we think to ourselves "Bargain basement sellers don't have good customer service and can take ages, not send the product etc, but I save money. HP cost me money and last time I used them were no better than bargain basement sellers, so why go there?"
I suppose this is the reason high end outlets often don't dump cheap stuff themeselves but rather sell it to the likes of megabuy and cworld, to protect their image. Either that or they should remember to treat the customer with respect no matter what the margin.
