Estimated delivery was meant to be 12/08

Tried to call HP to fix the warranty to start from today and not from invoice date, I went through a maze of dial this dial that number. I give up. If anyone succeeded pls let us know how.

  • In the same boat as ccrap, except in Melbourne. If anyone has one they don't want, I'd be happy to give it a good home.

What's your track information after customs realeased

  • Mine arrived about 2PM today. Delivered by TNT. Lowish SCPO312xx order.

Running memtest86 with the 8GB non-ECC memory now (so far so good).

Installed a combined slim DVD and 3.5" hotswap tray in the top bay. The HDD is connected to the internal SATA port and the DVD is connected to an IDE->USB converter and connected to the internal USB port.

DVD boots properly (Hiren, Windows Server etc) even on USB.

  • Received mine yesterday.

  • Mine arrived today after getting my email will arrive in september sometime email.

  • Finally, TNT redelivered my unit after I "missed" the first delivery on 8th Aug with someone at home all the time. The long waiting story comes to a happy end. All the best for those who are still waiting for the machines.

  • Help!!!!I need a correct and recomended link for a video card with HDMI!

    • I paid $50.00 for EVGA 512-P3-1311-K2 at shop.
      EVGA Geforce G210 (520Mhz), 512MB DDR3 (1230Mhz), PCI-E 2.0, Passive heatsink, DVI-DL, HDMI, VGA, Low profile (bracket included) at http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/40179-512-p3-1311-k2

    • come to page 9…. nice little discussion on this very topic :).

    • 30$ gigabyte 512m 5450 from msy, cheapest i can find with ok performance. No problems to decode my 1080p bluray under my home server 2011

    • The one on MSY is cheap.

Apparently 1GB does not make a difference, not even for $9 more. Correct me if I'm wrong. Cause I'm going to buy the 512MB and would go 1GB otherwise. =)

      • Should be the same for video content :)

  • just got mine this afternoon. I put in a single 4gb ram and low-p 6450 g/c on it. so far so good. Anyone want buy the org 1gb memory from HP server? $15 please email me. [email protected]

    • ebay it mate… that's what I'm going to do with my one.

  • Just got mine today too after being told it come in mid September. Brisbane here.

    • was ur status still is admin when you received the server?

  • Anyone had any joy with freenas. I put version 8 on a stick and got it working nicely with 2 x 2tb WD green drives. Then I decided I would rather use the hardware raid and set the drives up in a mirror and now freenas won't boot. I've searched but found very little on the topic, anyone tried this successfully. Freenas is nice but ideally I'd like the underlying mirror.

  • Got mine on Tuesday and very happy with it. Installed a 5450 and it hasn't missed a beat with all the media ive thrown at it. Having some grief transmitting 5.1 via the hdmi though. Believe it's could be a driver issue cos when you go to the sound properties it only shows 2 channel available on the drop down. Tried both ati (from the cd it came with) and realtek drivers (r261 & r263). The setup I have is 5450 —> hdmi —> samsung tv —> optical —> avr. I checked for a forum on here for these bad boys but couldnt find anything.
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    • Your TV is limiting the HDMI to 2 channel. You need to go 5450 -> HDMI -> receiver -> 5450 -> TV

      • Thanks for the quick response I thought that may have been the case. Only prob I have now is my avr doesn't have a hdmi in only optical so I may have to get a PCIe card with optical and hdmi - any suggestions? If anyone is interested in a basically new HIS radeon hd 5450 512mb card pm me, I'm in laverton, Melbourne.

  • Got my server working as a NAS using FreeNAS with a ZFS file system. Put a F4 spinpoint 2TB, 4 gig of ram and a 4 gig USB for the OS, seems to be working well. My HTPC streams off it happily.

In case anyone else intends to try this, use FreeNAS 7. FreeNAS 8 is still new and doesn't have UPNP or lots of other handy features - these are intended to be added to a later version, but don't exist yet.

Assuming my ZFS setup goes as planned, when the HDD is full I will just add another under the same logical volume, so it will just look like one 4TB HDD to the rest of the network. Hopefully the drives will come down in price too.

    • Any tips for a first timer with FreeNAS? Did you follow any guides?

      • This is good starting point, http://www.learnfreenas.com/blog/ but has been indicated earlier stick with FreeNAS 7 instead of 8 for now due to early developmental stage.

        • I went with 8 and it's not worth the effort to start over. Will just have to hope they develop the features I want (Time Machine support, iTunes server, torrent client) sooner rather than later…

  • Trying to set my HTPC up has been pretty annoying, I had a BSOD after installing windows multiple times only to find it was the ram (2GB stick from netplus) and now the bootloader is missing as it installed it onto my usb stick as it was the active partition.

    • If you are installing from USB (as opposed to from the DVD installation disk), dont get frustrated when it asks for a driver disk at the beginning of the install. My install stopped because it couldnt find cd rom drivers or something (even though I dont have an optical drive installed). Just cancel install by clicking right hand corner and it'll take you back to install menu. Swap flash drive to a different USB port then just start install again and for some reason it works. It took me hours of net trawling to find this solution (after many frustrating hours trying to get install to work off flash drive). Hope this helps someone reading.

  • .

  • What GFX card could I get to run BF3?

  • Anyone still in "Admin" status? Mine has the "Last Change:" field changed several times but still in Admin :(

    • yep, still waiting here… meanwhile everyone around me has had their's shipped :(

      no response from HP either

still don't know what i'm going to do with them though, so not terribly upset :)

    • Still in Admin too, looks like the wait will continue….low SCPO314XXX, last change 17/08 date to follow.

    • Ordered 2 (two seperate orders - few hours apart). Recieved first earlier this month. Other order is still in admin. Not sure if I should cancel and get my money back.

      • Same here, mid SCPO313XXX so about 600 orders apart, received on the 10th.

No clue how they assign deliveries to orders, obviously not sequentially though. Hard to tell if manufacturing has slowed or they were able to pull stock assigned to other regions to fulfill some orders in Oz.

        • in case it wasn't already painfully obvious, they're doing the same thing ShoppingSquare did with the SGS2 debacle.

essentially they received more orders than anticipated at too low a price, so they're delaying orders as long as possible in hope that people will cancel and they can then sell them to other people at higher prices.

it's just business sigh btw SCPO3135XX here.

        • Appears to be the case, keeping an eye on some of the orders around mine and while some have been delivered others that were in admin have now been cancelled.

I ordered the second one close to the end of the deal and had to contact HP as to why my payment had not been accepted, they had to approve it apparently as they had become aware that orders had exceeded their expectations. Soon after it was allowed to proceed and funds were taken from my account for the order.

Maybe the only positive is that those that are still waiting for their order to proceed may get an alternative model….better one?…as I would expect that having accepted our payment they are obligated to deliver a within a reasonable time frame.

I have not received an update to the September delivery date so they still have some time up there sleeve.

    • My order's "Last Change:" was updated again today to "22-Aug-2011 23:42 GMT". Don't know wth HP is doing. I already have all HD's, tv card, memory for it, even upgraded the home network to cat6 cables and router. All for something I paid for but never arrive.

    Finally got my setup;

    2TB Seagate Green Drive
4GB 1333 KIT Kingston Ram (sold out of g.skill)
    ASUS 6450 1GB silent

    O/S Windows 7 64bit

    My PS3 died so I'm going to use;
PlayTV for Tuner with 64bit drivers for Windows
Bluetooth Remote with 64bit drivers for Windows

Just in the market for a wireless keyboard mouse combo.

  • I am disgusted that HP has effectively given me the finger by fulfilling over 10 orders both immediately before and after mine. Also that all of my requests for a status update were ignored, except for the last one where I wanted to cancel which was answered within a few hours.

For those who are still waiting, apparently new stock is due on 10/9/2011 but there is still no guarantee your order will be fulfilled. In the meantime, if you genuinely want one of these machines, I recommend Warcom or any other vendor that can actually fulfil a promise.

      i'm still waiting!
But the fact is if you buy elsewhere HP will still have your money!

      • i don't care who has my money, as long as i get a product in return. i figured that's how "buying" worked? HP apparently doesn't think so, at least not in my case

    • Yeh not happy here either…. Ordered two of these, status is still Admin. I've sent emails, no response and I DONT want to cancel GRRRRRRRR

1.5 months, no email, no contact, no nothing, except for a Credit Card charge. Thanks HP….

      • +1

Those who are still waiting should all get a free HDD from HP ;p
