  • I need more storage but I can't bring myself to pay more than last time.

These are good drives though. Mine have been shucked and haven't skipped a beat.

  • Stupid question - assuming these arnt USB C connectable. Do they offer 5TB versions with USB C connect-ability?

    • There wouldn't be many 5tb out there… so I doubt it.

It comes with a detachable USB-A to micro-B USB 3.0 cable. You can replace it with an USB-C to micro-B USB 3.0 cable.

      • Fantastic - didnt realize it was that easy!

I'd imagine a large % of OZb have one already…sort of. Most new USBC phones have a otg adapter in the box. Works great for this!

        • You could use that in combination with the supplied cable. But does it do USB3, or just 2?

@bargaino: Guess it depends on the adapter. My Samsung one has blue internals, so 3, but I'm not gonna vouch for all… ;)

I got 6TB Seagate drives at JB for this price..

      Irrelevant. These are portable.

      • Ah yes I see my bad.

      • I have to admit I didn't notice until I read it again… they all look the same now!

  • Try to Price match in OW.

same model got no stock. wouldn't price match Seagate 5TB Backup Plus as different model.

The Backup Plus is a better drive - a fair bit faster and more reliable by all accounts. Note that there's a new 'Backup Plus Slim' drive starting to appear on shelves but it's actually larger than the current one.

      • cheers, Will look for Backup plus.

  • Is this HDD? Are all external portable hard drives HDD?

If you can find a 5TB SSD, let alone under $1000, please feel free to post it.
