Need to know The Force to operate this thing.

    • You're kinda right.
Don't even bother adjusting volume or skipping tracks on the speaker. You pretty much have to use Google home app.

      Thanks, saved me $49

It’s listed as clearance and no stock… you’d need to get pretty damn lucky to get someone to match that! Maybe by a lotto ticket too??

When you get together you can hook them up for a proper stereo pair…works well even on my old(ish) SRS-XB3.

      • alright thanks mate

No stock i can see in nsw

  • +5

There is no stock what is the point?

  • How significant of the sound difference is with Google home mini and this $49 one?

    • Also curious

      • See my comment below :-)

        • Hopefully others can score the same bargain as you. I've purchased some of the cheap Sony bluetooth speakers previously and find they are not very loud. The JBL flips are not too bad.

          • @unity1: Yeah me too, but at least this will be an upgrade for me, I hope everyone else who tries my suggestion can get one :

    • +1

You need to find one at $49 first ;) That significant!

    • Sounds a lot better than Mini, however it is not necessarily better than Google Home as each sounds a bit different. Gesture control is a pain so I just use Voice command to increase/decrease volume etc. In my own experience Mini < Hub < Sony = Home.

    • Imho better than Mini, not as good as Home.

    • I have both - night and day difference. The Sony sounds better than Google Home, let alone the mini. And that's before you even get into the hardware features…

      • Both also. The Sony is way overrated. People say it sounds great just because its badged Sony I think. Expected much much better from it.

        What hardware features?

        • I never said that it sounds great - just that it sounds better than Google Home and much better than the mini in response to a question, and I stand by that. So asking if it sounds better than the Home mini is missing how this speaker is positioned.

Features - the dimmable clock is a big one for me, the light is nice too. And there's the rather attractive design…

*****CALL APPLIANCES ONLINE THEY MATCH!!!!!***** I Called Appliances Online they done this for $49.00 + $3.60 Delivery to WA —-WOOHOO!!! :-) HAPPY DAYS!! Call 1300 000 500

    • +2

Just tried calling, and they said they can't as delivery is unavailable :(

      • Really??? When you go in to the item when you type in your postcode it say's it's available for delivery…they should honour they've charged my card and send confirmation to me….If they're advertising at full price with delivery on this item then they should do this I would have thought their T&C's says they can charge a delivery charge, which I was happy to pay…They're sending this item from NSW to my address in WA.

        https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/sony-lfs50gb-goo…

I read their price match policy first before I called and it clearly says they will honour price and did this for me… just charged a small delivery fee, also says this item is available with delivery on the page above when you type in your post code…..

I truly hops some other can benefit as well :-)

        • +2

Yeah the delivery tab is greyed out, so there's no option for delivery. Appliances guy said they can price match + delivery fee, but since they can't check delivery, they can't do it. Ahwell, enjoy it!

        • Was there any stock in WA for a price match to begin with?

    • they’ve been ozbargain’d. i hadn’t even brought up the sony speaker yet before they gave me an entire script on why they couldn’t price match the item.

      • Yep they have, I reckon they've had a few calls and on to it :( it would have all been so different if price matches could be done online!

    • Called they said no

      • Damn…sorry to hear!! Worth a try, their are other websites that might still match this price though..

        • Not clearance items

    • See my comment below

I checked online and says OUT Of STOCK. But when i tried ringing my local Big W (Greenhills), the lady i spoke too says she has 2 stock on hand. Picking it up later today, Christmas present sorted. So better try and ring your local store. Goodluck..

    • Wont last till later.

      Pick up soon.

    • +14

What name did you put it under?

      • Lmao

  • +1

I got one of these earlier this year from OzB. The motion controls are crap, but it responds nicely to hey Google, and you can control the volume that way. The sound quality is better than Google mini and picks up my voice better.

The clock is pretty bright but from where it is in my house I can't see it from any angle other than straight on.

    • +2

Yeah, I like mine. I mostly use or for radio, Spotify and podcasts. It responds and works pretty well.

      • Does it catch actual FM or DAB radio waves or is it online radio?

        • Streamed internet radio - no tuners or apps.

    • It sounds better than the Home, not just the mini. Oh, and the click is dimmable…

  • Came to Officeworks Cannington, they don't have stock. The girl at the counter said OW aren't sticking black colour anywhere… Some stores might have blue colour but none at Cannington store.

  • +1

Big W Armidale says no stock online on LFS50GB I walked in and they had 2. Well… one left. Plenty of SRSXB41B.
