Should modify your deal to include the $500 off iphone $65 plan, not a bad deal.

    • -4

Stated that "Offer not in conjunction with any other offer".

So wonder you get $500 off Iphone + $400 credits together?

      • +11

You literally replied to your own question lol

    • Expired Sept 19th.
[edit] Oops, extended until Oct 16th.

  • whats the deal on porting out then porting back in if on Telstra currently. Any tips

    • +1

      Port out to Vodafone.
Then the next day go and get this deal

      • +2

I've ported out all of a few minutes before at JB

      • +4

I tried doing this for the $500 off any iPhone JB Telstra deal. Was on Telstra and ported our to Vodafone only to find that you need to have port out for at least 30 days before you can port back in again. JB’’s Telstra system was notify them if you haven’t been out of the system for 30 days and won’t offer the $500 off. Keep in mind that this was all done by a mate of mine at JB and even he couldn’t help bypass that.

Ended up getting a New number from Optus and ported that over.

        • How about belong customer?
I wonder if they can detect this.

          • @bjdchwr: The JB one said that being a customer of Boost or Belong also counted, not sure about the Good Guys, but since they're the same now, it's probably the same deal.

    • +1

Lots of chats about this in multiple forum.

In short, it really varies. Some work and some don't.

      • +2

Last time i tried i got rejected at 3 JB's… waited a month and then the same deal came up a month later ($500 gift card)

        • I'm waiting for the JB Hifi ones.. :)

    • +1

The deal is only supposed to be available if you've ported out for more than 30 days, but the most they've ever done to me is ask.

Of course, I said it was >30 days! I wanted the deal!

    • I went to port today.

The Telstra guy said that my number was in their system up to the 23rd and so that I have to wait until then.

  • Does this include 5g service till 2020 like the rest of Telstra plans?

    • +1

This is not a 'Telstra' plan. This is a 'JB HiFi Plan', but pretty much sold on behalf of Telstra.

As far as I'm aware this does not come with a 5G trial.

  • +3

Whilst this is a good deal, be mindful that there are porting delays to Telstra for some people.

I've been waiting over 3 weeks to port to them.

    • Were you previously with Telstra?

      • @thehulk1969 I'm with an Optus reseller.

Spoke to my case manager today and she's still waiting to hear from Porting team.

She thinks it should be done by next week.

    • I ported to Telstra from Vodafone last week and it went through few hours later.

    • I swapped from Optus to Telstra yesterday and port was very quick and smooth thankfully.

    • Good luck.
I requested for a port in since the 31st of August and still nothing to this day.

Lodged a complaint to Telstra and everything and heard nothing.
All they advised is that it is now all in the hands of their IT team to allow the porting in through because they cannot do anything from their end since the porting in problems all happened early August.

      • Good luck, my port failed when I first went to Telstra in the deal from nearly 2 years ago. Took me 30+ hours on the phone, constant nagging saying it is my fault. This went on for 3+ weeks. Until finally they noticed the first port failed. They issued me a new sim and it ported within the hour. I would ask them to check if the port failed because I think they have to look for it in their system.

    • Yep, I'm in the same boat. Got a couple of the discounted prepaid SIM's from a previous deal here. Tried porting and its been a nightmare, still waiting & into the second week even after multiple calls etc

    • Can confirm. Definite delays with some port ins not all. Many getting stuck. Back of house teams are manually completing port ins while IT team are trying to rectify the issue. Basically something in the system is causing the losing provider to not receive the port request. Known issue, no eta yet.

      • @Super Saiyan and @drmantistoboggan - I'm porting from catch connect and it's been 3 weeks. They tell me there's an issue and it's been escalated with IT but can't tell me when it will be fixed.

I've lodged it with the TIO and they'll investigate but there's nothing they can do.

My case manager said my number keeps getting stuck in the system and they can't do anything, I haven't even received my Port in text.

I may port to another provider and give it a try later.

  • +2

Wasn't there a thing last time that you needed to be with a non Telstra provider for at least 30 days before you could port back

    • +1

      No.
I ported to Vodafone, waited 1 day then got a similar deal

      • Don't normally asked to be spoon-fed. But which voda plan did u port out to and then back on telstra? I'm on boost atm.

    • It depends. I tried 3 JBs and I was told that they could see I wasn't ported out for 30 days. YMMV

  • +3

    Get the $60 plan
    Once ported downgrade
Then contact Telstra about a porting discount
Receive $10 off and only pay $35 for the $45 plan like me.

$400 gift card in your pocket+a much cheaper plan.

    • $60 or $65 Plan. Did you downgrade via chat or phone?

      • $65 plan. Via chat. I told them that i was advised about the $10 port in credit.

        • So you requested that you downgrade to the 45 plan and ask for the $10 port in credit as well?

          • +2

@thehulk1969: The day after i successfully ported my number to Telstra,i went on the live chat and mentioned the port in discount then once it was applied i waited a few hours and downgraded my plan

            https://ibb.co/bgD60fK

            https://ibb.co/tsdRvRV

            • @[Deactivated]: Did you downgrade via Live chat too?

              • +2

@SR9: No,i did it myself via the application.

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: Don't you get charged early termination fee?

            • @[Deactivated]: Is the 10$ port in discount only for 65$ plan or even for 45$ plan?
Also is it a 12 month plan only?

              • @shivaussie: I don't think it should matter as you're porting in anyway and should be eligible for the discount

                12 months.

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: I only got 6 months of port in credit not 12 months.

            • -1

@[Deactivated]: Holy. So you're effectively paying $1.67 per month for the plan???

    • +2

How do you manage to get a $10 port in credit? I've been trying for weeks with at least 15 different consultants (albeit with the $59 for pixel 3 @ 30gb a month plan)

      • +1

I just told them that i was advised about the port in discount (i wasn't,i lied)

    • +1

do you have to pay any fee to downgrade and how much data do you get with the 45 dollars, just the standard 15GB or?

      • No,i didn't pay any fees and I'm getting 50gb

        • where can I find this application to downgrade out of curiosity hah?

          • @kazjay51: interesting. JB currently have $45 for 30gb per month, not 50GB

    • +1

I see you did this in August.

Please note that I believe they have patched this loophole.

Source. I tried several times last month.

      • I tried today no joy

      • what loophole? $10 port in credit or the downgrading via the app?

      • Have you tried it today? just tell them you we're advised about the $10 port in credit. lie and say the person you spoke to on the phone who done your plan told you we're eligible

        • +3

I've tried this 10 times in the last month and it hasn't worked. The port in credit should be laid to rest. It's not available, you can't get it anymore.

    • +1

Nice work! After multiple live chats, phone calls and visits to Telstra/JB I was able to switch from $65 to $45 JB plan and have a 6 month $10 port in discount applied, so I’m happy with that.

      • did you go to JB to downgrade your plan or through the live chat

        • Downgraded at JB, they wouldn’t do it via Live Chat, over the phone, or in the Telstra Store. Going straight to JB they should be able to do it for you straight away.

  • -1

just curious, what do you guys use your data on -for 50gb per month?

    • I used to tether my MBP to download lots of stuffs. Depends on my speed, but 50gb only last 20mins.

Currently on unlimited plan and this month downloaded 1.2tb data and 7 days to go.

      • +1

        On your mobile?

    • +3

I think a lot of people use it instead of NBN.

    • +1

Streaming music all day, tether to my laptop on the train, youtube/netflix etc.

      Skies the limit!

  • -1

Looks like its TGG gift card. https://thegoodguys.sirv.com/Content/2020FY/Terms/wk1/telstr…

I'll get this if they offer visa gift card..

    • +5

      'Visa gift card' LOL

  • Is anyone able to clarify - these JB and TGG Telstra port 12 months plans. Are these the exact same as a standard Telstra plan? Is you get free streaming on the AFL, A-League app etc?

    • Yes,you do get free streaming of those mentioned..i just checked the Telstra application.

  • According to TGG Web site, $65 plan is 80GB/month.

    • Thats over 24 months, but they have $65 for 60gb over 12 months

    • That's the one with a $500 credit towards a phone.

  • Anyone happened to ask in-store or call up on what the deal is with the 35GB of the allowance being a "TGG Bonus"?
The Telstra CIS is still the stock 15GB so I wonder how "safe" this deal actually is …

    • Its safe. I did it almost 1 year ago today. My 1 year is up next week and I think I will then lose the extra 35 gig but I'll head over to Vodafone for a bit and start the process again.
Plan is the same as a normal Telstra plan with the extra data + bonus.

      • I was told the data bonus continues after the contract provided you stay on it.

        • +1

I currently on $35 per month for 55g of data and Live chat back then confirm that this price is ongoing after 12 months or if you decided to end the plan.

  • +1

This the same as the JB Hifi offer. Except TGG has less B&M outlets!

  • +5

Please note that you can get the same deal at JBHifi. IMHO there are more options for the use of the GC at JBHifi and they have decent sales. Also JBhifi often does a $500 GC deal so perhaps wait for the next $500 round. The $400 GC is standard.

Also note the actual value of the GC is about 10% off the stated price (~$360) if you try to sell them.

    • For the $45 plan JB is only $100 gift card.

    • @WTF Thanks for that. Do you know if there's an expiry on the offer at Jb? Can't see anything here…

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/jb-mobile#terms

      • TGG Gift card says 'No expiry' on it, not sure about the JB one

        • No expiry on JB gift cards. Wouldn't advise hording them for too long though. If the company goes bust (like DickSmith did) you will loose all your money.

      • JB mobile plans are often not advertised on the website but available in store. check in store.

  • +1

I ported out from Telstra expired in September to $4.90 Catch Connect Prepaid 40GB plan (valid for 30 days), making sure to disable their auto-recharge in the online portal.

Then ported into the TGG $65 plan on day 31. No problems at all.

After I got the $400 voucher, I went onto Telstra chat and asked for the $10 port in credit. No questions asked on the chat, they did it right away.

    So now I'm on $55 a month, 60GB with $400 voucher.

    • Could you do me a favour and ask if what the ETC fees would be if you were to recontract to the $45 plan? Thanks so much!

      • +1

I changed from the $65 JB plan to the $45 JB plan and was told there are no fees.

  • I can only use 3G. Anyone know what 3G is like in Outer South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne on this plan?

  • Telstra App says #380.57 ETC. Thought about switching to the lower plan to, seems can't.

  • Do we downgrade through Telstra Direct or through JBHIFI?

Just contacted Telstra and they offered $10 Port in for 6 months.

    • Interested myself. Mentioned about it is done through the 'application'. Assume Telstra 24 x 7 app? Kuro also said they were unable to downgrade.

Really like to know if the downgrade option is really guaranteed!

      • It's not guaranteed,

This loophole doesn't seem to work now.

They would of lost a lot of money as you could go one further and then convert to prepaid and in effect get a gift card for a few dollars.

        • It worked for me last week.

Depends on how you ask as well.

          • @Roadie999: Suggestions welcome. So you contacted Telstra to do the downgrade VS 'application?
What do you ask for? Did you also get the $10 port in credit? For how long 6/12 months?

          • @Roadie999: what worked? downgrading via the app?

  • I'd be all over this if it had international calling inclusions.

  • If my contract with Optus is expiring in December, do I do the porting before or after?
