I have the F1 Play as my everyday phone, no major issues since I got it for $300 a couple of months ago.

Build quality is pretty sturdy, battery life has been great. Usage is Bluetooth music pretty much 14hrs a day with light video watching (about 1hr a night) battery has never dropped below 50% by the time I go to bed (I charge it pretty much every night regardless)

It is a little thicker than most flagship phones, but even with a case the size is negligible.

Only issue is it generally doesn't auto connect to the last Bluetooth device, sometimes it does but mostly not. Hopefully that will be ironed out with the F2.

Keep in mind that this will take somewhere between 1-2 months to deliver, so if you need a new phone ASAP this won't be for you.

Edit: I know this is a long comment already but - for those of you enticed by the impressive sounding cameras: assuming they are similar to the ones in the F1 Play, they don't work very well unless they are in a very well lit environment and the default camera app automatically applies a 'smoothing' effect which reduces picture clarity.

Tldr; likely to be an amazing phone for the price, highly recommend if the camera isn't your main draw.

I own the F1 (non play) and can confirm cameras on this model are crap. Apparently Umidigi fixed this in the F2, with the front camera using the same sensor as the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. No word on the back 48MP back sensor, but sounds definitely better than the existing one…

      • Same, but recently I installed Open Camera and it's much better than the built-in camera app.

        • Yep, Open Camera improves the situation somewhat - still I would say photo experience is sub-par. But looking at all the other features and the incredibly battery performance I dont really care :)

          • @klatscho: Same reason I loved the mi Max phones from Xiaomi. Huge screen, great specs, huge battery. Everything but the camera was great.

Asked for mi Max 3 (girlfriend's mother is Chinese) and she got me the mi mix 3 due to difficulty getting the max.
Great phone, amazing camera - but smaller screen and single day battery life. Most people probably prefer it, but I liked my mid range max more 😒

    • Thanks for the detailed review. Has it received any software updates during the time that you've had it?

      • I has, the latest one in late September. Overall the experience is really good and for the money it is a steal.

I pulled the trigger on the F2 too, with better cameras it really is a no brainer at the price

  • Looks good for the price - but don't expect any updates beyond Android 10 with it (not such a big deal IMO because its a budget phone and many flagships still dont have Android 10 yet - so this will be contemporary for a while to come).

Seriously tempted, but I've made a point to only buy Android One phones.

Have made the same mental note. Android One only from now on too. My next phone will probably be a Nokia.

  • Can I but a rugged (ip67 and drop proof) case for this? Any idea where?
    Also why no wireless charging?

  • Also is the screen AMLOEOD ? Can't find confirmation anywhere on the net

  • Any chance this could arrive before 25 November?

  • showing au $269.45 on my screen…

    • I think they add GST when checking out

      • cheers

        • Final price to ~$240 now with $10 coupon and including 15% shopback

  • when will they release 101 Megapixel camera in a $300 smartphone?

  • 30fps only? Can't find anywhere that lists higher frame rates for video recording.

  • Have the Umidigi S3 (similar to F1, F1 Play). Very happy with the phone except the camera is a bit crap. Also, updates seemed to have dried up and they announced it won't be updated to Android 10.

Remember, this phone is only $300 so don't expect flagship quality cameras.
