Was just checking out a few wishlist items and found that Amazon is currently running free international shipping on all Prime items regardless of order value. Just bought an $11 item with no shipping fees (usually around $20).

Checked with a few random Prime items from overseas and it appears to be working for all. It may only be items shipped and sold by Amazon US however.

Combine with the up to 12% Shopback and you've got a good deal.

Mod: Duplicate exception. "The duplicate gains an excessive amount of positive votes (50+) and the original deal was posted more than 24 hours ago." Original deal. Guidelines.

This has been running for a few weeks now, since around the start of October.

      • +9

        Yep. Dupe City this one.

    • +11

I did a dummy new post and put your title in exactly as above - the original deal title literally popped up asking you to confirm you’re not posting a duplicate.

      • +4

I didn't get that though. If I had I wouldn't have clicked "not a duplicate". Pissed that people negged me for asking a legit question after I did the research. Although my original post didn't have "expedited" in the title so maybe that's why.

        • +3

          Ok, let's try again!

I did a dummy new post and put your title in exactly as it originally was without 'Expedited' - the original deal title literally popped up asking you to confirm you’re not posting a duplicate.

@nismo: That's not my original title though. That's the title the mods made just without expedited. So again, I didn't get those options. Regardless, this isn't a dupe as confirmed by mods.

            • +7

@Tacooo: I've got nothing against you PotPlanty, but it is actually a Dupe, there is no doubt about it, it's just been allowed to stay based on an exception.

The mods never confirmed it wasn't a dupe, they actually confirmed it is a dupe..

I don't think you've understood the mod note correctly

              I didn't neg u, I rarely even neg jv…

            • +2

@Tacooo: Ok Mr Planty, Take 3! I've gone into the Revision History and extracted your EXACT wording from the original posting this time https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/490495/revisions/1019356/v…

              Ready? Same result:

              Your exact title
**[Prime] Free International Shipping On Prime Eligible Items Regardless Of Order Value @ Amazon

              • @nismo: You can revise your point all you bloody well want. All I'm saying, and I've said this multiple times now, is that I did not get that dupe option when posting. Perhaps the page didn't load properly, perhaps the algorithm to detect didn't work properly. Stop trying to play OzBargain detective. A lot of people didn't know about this, myself included, and I helped them get items cheaper.

          • +4

@nismo: I love how salty/jealous people get here when someone is getting free up votes like it's some actual currency.

            • -1

@J6: I love how people misinterpret things ALL the time…

    • +1

Ignore them. Dupe posts as reminders happen all the time.

You have 263 upvotes so youre fine.

  • +8

    DUPE!!!!!!

  • +9

Sweet, first I've heard of this today

    • +10

      What about yesterday?

      • +1

Yeah, heard about it yesterday and 2 weeks ago too!

  • Do you have to be a prime member?

Ozbargain mods like Bunnings - they don't start work until 9:01 am ;)

    • +3

      Do they sell sausages?

  • +3

    Mods are asleep. :)

  • +3

    Nearly there…

    (Duplicate) Exceptions:

    • The original deal is older than one month, and was expired or sold out between then and now.
    • The original deal is active but older than 6 months.
    • The duplicate gains an excessive amount of positive votes (50+) and the original deal was posted more than 24 hours ago.
    • The original deal is a list of multiple items and the item is not contained in the title of the original deal. Related forum discussion.
    • Hmm, suppose it's okay. More than a few people would have missed it.

    • +1

Here you go, I added the 50th vote

    • +2

Interesting exception. Is that to create extra visibility to the people that missed a recent good deal?

      • +2

How long does the deal have to hit 50+ votes?

      • +1

There's a loophole for those chasing votes (I know a couple). Post a recent popular deal in the early hours and hope the mods are asleep.

        • +4

Unless votes convert to dollars I don't see the point

  • Didn't think of this as a bargain, haha. I ordered some screen protectors and case for my mi 9t pro from a US seller couple days ago and received free expedited shipping, which was a bonus.

  • Does anyone know the carbon impact of express vs standard shipping. Is it more or less? Just curious.

    • Express probably has less due to possibly being a more direct flight - rather than trucks to another depot and flights via everywhere for a 'standard' cheaper solution.
      Otherwise don't know.

    • Same route so about identical

    • Both would be identical to within a 2% standard deviation.

Irrespective of whether or not an extra set of 3m Command Picture strips from Amazon are on any given route, the planes are still gonna fly, the cows are still gonna fart and seasonal climate change will continue to impact marginal differences to the weather, just as they all have since their inceptions.

The carbon impact of manufacturing super glue or the solvent required to dissolve it off the latest unemployed virtue signaller stuck to a road would likely have a larger impact on life as we know it…

  • You mean 'expedited'? Since even 'standard' is air-freighted to Australia it shouldn't make any difference in CO2. Going to 'priority' might add a few grams since I assume it will be air-freighted domestically too.

  • Ordered two packages once from US, one with standard shipping and one with "expedited" as I needed it quicker, both came on the same day. Looks to me more of an attention grabbing marketing gimmick than any real benefit?

    • I think the key here is even standard shipping is usually not free unless you spend $49+.

      • Correct.

  • Does the free shipping apply to an overseas address other than that of the prime account?

  • +3

Many items in my saved list aren't prime egilible anymore, although they still sent by Amazon US.

    • Yes, the Amazon USA items I am interested in, like books and CDs, aren't Prime eligible.

  • How does returning items work? Would I have to post something I’m not happy with back to Amazon US or could it go to Amazon AU?

    • +1

I think you can post it back to AU, but if your reason for returning it is just 'not happy' rather than an issue with the item I believe you'll have to pay the cost of return shipping.

    • +1

We recently returned an item bought from Amazon US. Although in our case item was faulty. Had to be sent back to US but they refunded additional $32 to cover the postage initially and we could claim more if it went over that (which it did).

      • Did they find any fault with your elephant?

    • I had an item arrive damaged (it wasn't packed well enough and got crushed), and Amazon US just refunded me without even worrying about a return. They also offered me free postage for an alternative item of my choice. This obviously isn't the case for others, so I'd guess it depends on the price of your item and (perhaps) your purchase history.

  • does Amazon USA Prime accounts still qualify for free international shipping? i am being charged for shipping for my USD70 purchases..

    • It looks like the deal is still valid ("on Prime eligible orders").

    • Tried 30 day free trial on US Amazon and was not able to get free shipping to Australia anymore.
Annoying as there are a lot better deals for the same products compared to Amazon Au.

  • Dam .. want this now … any chance it's coming back for Black friday / Christmas?

    • It's still in effect as of right now.

    • It's still showing up for me.

  • +2

Expired now unfortunately, back up to $49 minimum spend.
