      @b0nd: Would you recommend these beans? New to the coffee beans world, just got myself a machine. I've tried some from Jasper Coffee, a Colombian bean and a Timorese bean. I liked the Colombian bean quite a bit. Thanks in advance for your feedback

        @High5: yup, go for it. I've tried different brands from coles/woollies, but that's a hit/miss, but these guys never disappoint. :) Have tried most of the flavours using such offers and then also brought bigger packs from their website directly.

Mannabeans, if coffee is close to its roast date should the bag stay vacuum sealed or loosen up and expand?

  Hi,
  
  The bags have a 1 way valve in them, to allow the beans to degas. We don't actually vacuum seal but ship fresh. Oxygen, light, moisture and heat will age and oxidise coffee which is why it's best to store in a cool dark place.
  
  This being said, a bit of air in the top of the bags is actually a good thing after roasting as this will facilitate the degassing process. Beans tend to need a few days to degas after roasting and will improve by doing so.
  
  I believe that when you guys receive our coffee, the air would most likely have been expelled due to transit. Once you receive and either open or stand up in your cupboard, hopefully the degassing can continue and a bit more air will be present in the bag.
  
  Best stored in valved bag it comes in and placed in a cool dark place ie the cupboard. Coffee generally is considered fresh and performs best for the first month but can still be drunk after this and some coffees I try at week 5 or 6 can still be surprisingly good.
