So it's only 1 game + Xbox? Is this the cheapest it's been? And is it available online or in-store only? Hey OP, could you list what's included in the Xbox one s bundle? Cheers

    • There were a couple of very quick deals for sub $400 a while ago, but I think it involved vouchers / codes / cashbacks, and there's been nothing remotely close for a long time

    • +2

      Two games.
Forza incl Lego dlc and with either Other worlds or COD

      • If you get Game Pass Ultimate both Forza Horizon and Outer Worlds are included (though not the DLC), so not that great as part of a bundle.

I still need to redeem the Forza Horizon code I got with my Xbox last year, purely because I've been playing through Game Pass.

  • +3

It’s the console + Forza Horizon 4 (with LEGO DLC) + choice of either CoD or Outer Worlds.

Note that Outer Worlds is on Game Pass, I believe.

    • +2

Horizon 4 is also on gamepass.

    • +1

Yep have to get Cod and sell it if you don't want it and buy gamepass. Also sell FH4 if anyone takes it.

Gamepass is essentially a must have now for xbox. Crazy good value.

      • +1

Crazy good value only if you're a regular player.. otherwise it's cheaper to get it on and off using the $1 deals that pop-up for inactive accounts.

      • To be honest I wouldn't mind owning FH4 outright without gamepass.. it's a nice game. But I wouldn't pay $50 for it.. would rather rely on Gamepass. For $10/$15 it would be a good purchase.

  • Hey Op you probably should add JN HiFi to title & description.

    Lets see what Amazon does.

    • +1

Why should he add JN HiFi? instead JB Hi-Fi . 😁

      • +5

Because misspelt words attract attention. Attention gets more votes.

  • -1

Stills seems expensive for a console with 12 months left before it’s replaced. If it was me I’d buy a cheap S to get you through the next year.

    • +5

For $130 extra, I'd say it's worth it if you aren't on a tight budget.

    • +11

Tell you what’s expensive, new consoles day one. I’d be happy with this for at least 18-24 months.

    • +1

      Yes, but I have a 4K QLED now. ;)

    • +5

People pay $1000+ for a mobile phone that they replace/hand back in 12 months.

      • Some people will pay $2k for the max pro and replace that in a year, Video game consoles are so good, you can only replace them every 5 years or so and they average out to be like $100 a year.

      • Yeah but those people are stupid….it's a phone for God's sake.

  • Also modern warfare releases Friday so does this deal start tomorrow or Friday?

    • +4

By the time the game downloads on potato NBN, it’ll be Friday!

      • +2

        FTTP baby

  • If you waited till now enjoying your Xbox One S like me, and with the next Xbox around the corner to be presented, it might not be a great idea to buy the X now.
With the new one around, X should be cheaper and for some it might not even be worth instead, going straight to the new one.

I have One S with a Samsung 65 QLED. The quality is insane, Gears 5, COD WWII, Tomb Raider, look like a movie.
I've added a external USB 3.0 SSD 1TB NVMe and I have almost no loading time with my One S so..

    Just my opinion :)

    • +2

If you think the S is insane, you should try the X. My kids have an S hooked up to the better TV and the difference compared to my X with my Kogan 4K Tv is insanely different.

      • @Danstar hahaha I can imagine. I was already freaking out playing WWII. I can just imagine the X but I might wait.

    • +4

If you've spent that much (external USB 3.0 SSD 1TB NVMe) with your S you were silly not to upgrade to an X, many titles offer very negligible improvements on SSD.

      • That much? A great $180 deal that can be transferred to another Xbox or PlayStation
I don't know which games you play but I used to have an USB 3.0 HDD on it before, the loading speed between it and the internal one was satisfying, from there to this NVMe is even better.

Before anyone ask "Why do such a thing? —- adding an external drive and etc"

I have a lot of digital edition games, Forza 4 downloaded more than 70GB. I have Tomb Raider collection, etc.
Let's say I buy an X now or my One S broke, I just need to connect my NVMe on the new one, turn on, login, and voila, no downloads required. If I go to a friends place, I can do the same. PlayStation works as well.

Everyone that uses the internal hard drive and wanna upgrade or the console broke, everything has to be installed and downloaded again.
It is more commodity, backup, and less loading time. That is all :)

        • -3

I've used an SSD before on a One X, also have watched many reviews showing differences. Overwhelmingly it's a waste of money.

I have around 600 digital games… I know the benefits of storage. It's necessary, however SSD isn't.

          • @scuderiarmani:

            I have around 600 digital games…

Well, so you have at least a 4TB or so to keep everything. No bad.

I know the benefits of storage. It's necessary, however SSD isn't.

What is the difference? They are both storage solution ¯_(ツ)_/¯

In case you don't know how a HDD works, I will leave the image below.
HDD has a read-write heads, it never touches the disk spinning 5.2k PM-7.2k RPM or above 10k RPM in servers.
If the read-write heads touch the disk, it is caused a physical failure know as bad-block which spread to the entire disk, it will die.

SSD, faster, require less space, has no mechanical parts. Its biggest fear is high heat just like any electronic device.

Both are storage being used nowadays by Google, AWS, Microsoft, you name it…

So no, you don't know what storage means….

            [HDD OPENED] (https://previews.123rf.com/images/nelex01/nelex011601/nelex0…)

            • @ratoloko: Are you seriously explaining to me how storage works?

Do you realise the Xbox and any other console (and games) wasn't designed for SSD use and you are also limited to the USB transfer?

              Alot more than 4tb…

              • +1

@scuderiarmani: You may want to check out some more recent testing of SSD versus HDD as some older reviews don't show as much benefit. ultimately it comes down to the game, but I dont think there would be any situations where the SSD doesnt beat the HDD.
                https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/aztf1p/comparison_…

                • @Gravy: I'm not saying it's not better, but it's still not performing how it would if it was designed originally for it. The next generation has shown that already in their reveals.

                  • -1

                    @scuderiarmani:

you are also limited to the USB transfer

Nooooooooo, really?? I reaaaally didn't know that. You changed my life, ohhhhhhhhhhh my God! hahahahahahahaha
Just to inform you, I use USB coz I don't wanna open my console to install a 2.5 Sata SSD or worse doing all of that job to install a bigger HDD, since it has warranty for 4y at JB-HIFI

Do you realise the Xbox and any other console (and games) wasn't designed for SSD

Your sense of knowledge is scaring me. In your world, consoles will use HDD forever. Soon you will tell me that cars weren't designed to be electric lol

it's still not performing how it would if it was designed originally for it

Your sense of knowledge is scaring me lol
Man, even old computers, old laptops that were dead due to a bad performance, install a SSD on them and you will see the machine "flying" for its age.

I'm stopping this discussion here no matter what you reply. Your lack of knowledge is astounding. Please, read more, study more.
                    All the best.

                    • -1

                      @ratoloko: Lol you are hilarious.

You have absolutely no idea and you are trying to justify your overpriced purchase. Good for you!

Now you are changing the conversation to suit around laptops? I'm glad you've saved a few seconds of your life for $180…

You really need to read what dribble you've written.

The Xbox does NOT get the same benefits a computer would.

  • Title needs some fixing. Quite confusing. Also misspelled Outer Worlds

    • +1

      Should be right now. ;)

      • The note about the Xbox One S deal still begins with "Xbox One X" (should be S).

  • Thoughts on the x as a 4k uhd disc player pkus media centre now that kodi is available. Seems to be a competitive price for a pwerful uhd player

    • +1

You wouldn't need more than the XB1S if that's all you're using it for.

    • -1

      It's a basic uhd player.

Doesn't do Dolby Vision off disc (only streaming) and doesn't have a lot of advanced audio options or HDR optimisers like something like Panasonic.

  • +2

Thank you to the mods for fixing this. It was a quick post before leaving for work, as I was using my phone.

  • Great deal, however im happy with my One S to hold me over until the new console at the end of the year.

    • End of next year they are due.

      • yeah realized the typo after i posted it

  • I'm on an original Xbox one (2014) - which suffers in RDR2 and AC Odyssey… might be time to upgrade!

    • Pretty good deal especially if you like any of these games.

    • I have an original as well as the S at home. Loading times for Monster Hunter World differs quite a bit (it took me a full 3 minutes more with the original). Both sourced from the same external SSD drive.

    • +1

Trust me it's worth it, had to use my XB1S for a weekend and it was hell going back lol

    • Look into getting an External SSD. it made a difference in those games on my PS4, (Also made huge improvements to Destiny 2)

  • Can you play VR games on an Oculus device with this?

    • I don't think so. I know the PS4 has a headset.

      • Ah yes, I have a PSVR, but thinking of getting a more PC-grade VR device like the Oculus.

        • Look into the Oculus Quest. Newer standalone VR headset with surprisingly great quality visuals. Can also be used with Steam games on PC via an app called ALVR (technically not the same as having an Oculus Rift, but doable).

    • Nope, MS were promising VR support a while back but then did a backflip which was a real shame. The next gen Xbox may support VR but nothing concrete yet I dont think other than a few mentions of some patents which may or may not come to fruition.

  • +1

I honestly can't belive the people on here thinking getting an X isnt worth it over an OG or S model - the graphics and performance level is genuinely next gen vs those original xbox consoles (yes even on a 1080p tv).
People on here will spend more than the cost of an xbox one x to get a 20% increase in graphics performance but baulk at spending what realistically equates to maybe $200 or so (after selling your old xbox console) to get something that is ~450% more powerful in the graphics department.

    • I think the argument isn't about performance, it's more about the new consoles coming next year.

      • +1

That will be more than an entire year away, i don't see the argument as making any sense whatsoever. Sure if it was THIS christmas it was coming out i would hold off, but also, you wont be getting a next gen xbox for $450, its probably going to be up near $700 or more so it's still not a fair comparison anyway.
It's not as though your xbox one x will instantly be worth nothing when the new consoles come out anyway, probably still be able to sell your xbox one x for $300 when the next xbox comes out, seems like a non issue to me.

        • +1

I understand what you're saying, but what might seem like a non-issue to you could be an issue for someone else.
I personally think it's a very valid consideration to keep in mind the new consoles coming next year, and a sound decision to wait if there's no rush to buy something so soon.

        • Compatibility of next gen system with existing games XB1 might be a key though.

      • +3

People have been saying 'just wait' since the One X was released 2 years ago. It's a flawed argument. I got mine at launch and haven't regretted it one bit. That's nearly two years where I've been able to enjoy all the new games at their very best on console.

My advice: if you want it and have the money, just get it and enjoy it. When the time comes where you want to upgrade to the Scarlett, sell the X, buy the Scarlett and enjoy. I didn't get the OG Xbox One for 2 years after its launch as I was still playing and enjoying games on the 360.

  • awesome deal!

  • heads up, Outer Worlds will be on Xbox Game Pass as of the 25th!

  • Does the deal apply to the Xbox one X white version too?

  • A small thought - the $1 upgrade from XBox live to gamepass is still valid, yes?

So i could buy this bundle with MW, get an xbox live card for $70, then upgrade it for $1 for an entire year of gamepass, correct?
If so, seems like the obvious choice to me, as you can get the other games on GP anyway.

    • what is MW?

      • +1

        Modern Warfare

    • How does this work? I'm confused as to the suggestion…

      • +1

        https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/live/gold/upgrade

Buy 12 xbox live pass and activate, then use the above link to upgrade said live account to gamepass ultimate for just $1

        • Then $15.95 per month after that for Gamepass. I just tried.

        • Do you mean buy 12 months Xbox live sub then pay $1 and get ultimate for a year?

          • @k3nnis: Yes - i did this on the weekend and it worked a treat. I now have ultimate up until July 2021.

  • Is this a permanent price drop?

  • Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i click the link on the catalogue, see the $379 deal for the One S….but i don't see a $459 deal for the One X….all i see is "$619 the lot"

I see the catalgoeu starts today, now, 24/10, despite MW releasing a day later, too. Haha. If it IS $619 - this is no deal, it's $20-30 off full price console at maximum AUS RRP…either I'm doing this wrong, or this has been JB Nerf'd.

    • +1

If you can get the catalogue to load the One X deal is on the front page for $459!

      • Yes but click on the Xbox x bundle in the catalogue and it loads the website to purchase but the bundle is still $600+ and no MW or Outer Worlds.

My guess is this bundle actually starts Friday (which is the release date for both MW and Outer Worlds)

        • It might go live on website when stores open??

You can get the game early and predownload waiting for the servers on the 25th. I've actually got a delivery coming today of MW from
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/489418

        • Maybe they won't let it go live on the site till MW is released?
Though I do see you can pre-order MW.

      • Did you care to check the actual website where you end up ordering?

        • I checked the catalogue and then the website and neither the One X or One S deal was listed on the website. So I figured when JB Hifi staff get to work they might update the website then..

Rather then just assuming 'JB Nerf'd' this deal at 2am!!

        • Ok so tomorrow the price will go live correct?

          • @CheapOjoe: Yep,

Makes sense the date correct. COD doesnt even come out until Friday!

  • Do you think it’s safe to get this deal on Saturday instead of Friday? Don’t have the time.

    • Probably will be available online for click and collect

        • Both

    • Sale ends Wed 30/10

      • +1

Thanks. Just worried it will go out of stock.

  • Looks like the standalone console price has dropped online, but no sign of the bundle yet:
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/xbox-one-x-1tb-console $459
    Looking for the bundle here:
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/xbox-bundles

    • Bundle is now showing online at https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/xbox-bundles for $459, but the price increases to $667 when adding to cart. Has anyone had any luck buying online?

      • Discount now shows for the COD bundle.. Don't know how to get Outer Worlds instead of COD though.

        • Thanks, yes it only seems to be working for COD now.

  • Please note that EB are offering a similar deal, for $249 with trade in (Xbox One s + 2 games) .

    • -1

Where your console becomes the value of two new release games. Meh, I wouldn't encourage them with that offer. Trade ins are always rip offs.
