        • Students also get some Adobe apps for free.

Yep, one of my kids gets that from school.

I've given him one of my Office licenses though, so he gets the whole suite…

          • @jv: This one, the description says 5 PC/Macs + 5 tablets… $28… very tempting…

            • @netsurfer: It's for 6, not 5. That was the old licencing before this year…

              That is an old picture…

              Don't Snooze

    Bought 3 :)

    • Me too, cost me less than 1 year subscription last time I bought it

  • +4

I'm selling my Myer shares before their auditor sees this deal…

  • Could someone please clarify, $129 per year for 6 devices is listed here for “Office 365 Home”. https://products.office.com/en-au/compare-all-microsoft-offi…

    The Myer one says 5 PCs/Macs + 5 tablets.

    • +1

As JV pointed out, it is actually 6 now. It's just the description is the old one. You also get Access and Publisher but PC versions only (coz. they are not available for Mac).

      • Oh cool. Sorry, I missed that comment.

        • They changed the licence type about a year ago…

  • Back on. Yay. Got two. Thanks OP.

  • Thanks for the update of stock.
    Bought 3.

  • Got two for $56 including shipping!

    • Same, OOS now. Hoping they restock again and might try and pick up another 1 or 2. If they do post them that'll be a steal for 3-4 years around $100.

I literally came to OzB earlier looking for a deal on Office 365 as my uni account was disabled only a few days ago.

  • Ahhh missed it again, just!!

    • Same. :( Hope they restock again.

      Back instocks now!

      • Legend, got it! Then realised my paypal credit card was expired. Transaction went through then updated card, I hope it doesn't bounce!

Why not just purchase a cheap lifetime subscription from eBay?

    • That's a scam. If you are lucky, you will be sold something that's an educational version (free for students). Maybe the seller has a way to generate .edu based addresses. Otherwise, once that student finishes school, that license expires.

Basically, if you don't have children, and you want a dodgy way out, you could consider it. I doubt it will be "lifetime" subscription though.

      • Just buy another when it expires though, still works out cheaper?

        • What happens to one drive contents if sub ends abruptly?

          • +1

@nfr: You will be given some grace period to download those files. After the grace period, the OneDrive space will shrink to 5GB (with everything above 5GB space allocated space deleted). If you are not the actual account owner, your actual grace period is 30 days. The account admin/owner can technically still access the files within 90 days (but good luck finding the seller and have the seller download the files for you).

          • +1

@nfr: The office keys you buy for $5 don't include one drive. They are for office only.

        • Some of the active sellers have negative feedbacks. Most likely, the sellers abuse the license(s). Most of those sellers don't keep their accounts active for long. Technically, they can block/expire installs / licenses later on to free up slots and sell those again. Rinse and repeat.

It's one thing to want a bargain, it's another to do something dodgy. If people want to pretend they don't know these are not legit, then I cannot stop them. Basically, those sellers didn't pay for those subscription(s)/licenses at all and basically resell something they obtained for free (either because they have children, or their work organisations paid for MSDN licenses or could be some illegal keys they obtained).

          • @netsurfer: In my experience, when they become invalidated, they remain 100% working as long as they're still installed. You don't get any notification that the key is invalid or anything like that. It continues to behave as an activated and legit product.

But you can't reinstall it because it will no longer be connected to your account.

  • So many people are now buying 10, why is that? You can't stack that many years…

    • I still reckon its a ripoff, they paid over $300 for ten years..

      • I am guessing they will resell them. They can at most stack 5 years at once. Or, they can progressively re-stack over the next 5 years.

It's not a rip off because it is legit and it's even better if you use both PC and Mac. If you actually use all 6 licenses, that's $4.7 per PC/Mac per year. Furthermore, if Microsoft actually release another 2-3 versions over the next few years, it will make this worthwhile. The old home use program, while great, still requires you to buy separate versions for PC and Mac.

    • I don't get this as well.
You can buy the professional edition for one payment only, instead of always having to renew subscription. I see no logic on this.

      • +2

Think of it as bargain online storage from a major company (not a fly by nighter) with office 365 tossed in for free. Go check out Google and Amazon per $/TB/year.

  • Bugger me - I just assumed out of stock meant out of stock. Not that it would be re-stocked later…… and then become out of stock again.. my bad.

  • Great post OP.

For those looking for a Office package, I would suggest https://www.g2deal.com/microsoft-office-2016-professional-pl… for $49.46
It has everything a 365 edition has. The only 2 differences:

    • Professional is one time payment. It will never expires or force you to renew the subscription like the 365 edition.
    • 365 has the latest apps which It is not a big deal. Most of you guys won't explore it 100% anyways.

I bought 2x Windows 10 licenses and 1x Office from there. Just perfect.

    • Office 2019 Pro Plus is the latest version. Office 2016 Pro Plus is the previous version.

Microsoft was offering Office 2019 Pro Plus home use for ~$20. However, they have switched to Office365 home use and increased the price so it is no longer worthwhile.

Also, with these "cheap" keys, it is hard not to think that they could easily abuse the licensing agreement and oversell the same set of keys. I guess with digital licenses, once the PC is registered, Microsoft most likely won't strip out / remove that license. However, someone posted in one of the forums:

I bought the key recently as I was going to format my computer and it only worked for about a week before asking me to "Activate Windows". The watermark has returned and cannot activate it anymore. Microsoft suggests I buy the license by going to the store.

If you must buy from one of those dodgy sources, then just keep that to yourself. Try not to encourage other people to do the same.

    Back instocks now!

    • Hm… now I checked Myer's feedback… I am wondering whether Myer actually have them in stock.
One of the negative feedback comment was left yesterday for the same product. Myer cancelled the guy's order without providing any reason.

  • So is it a deal or too many catches ?

    From ready to fire @ $28 .

    • Well, a big question mark is whether Myer will actually deliver them or do a mass cancel.
A guy bought one yesterday and Myer simply cancelled it.

      • Have like 230 there now .

  • I've been checking throughout the workday with no luck, but I get home and voila, it's back in stock.

    =D

  • Back in stock. just grabbed one Thanks OP

  • do these have expiry, as in need to be activated within a certain period? or would I be good to keep these in a draw for a year?

    Edit: Bought 5 anyway

  • THEY ARE BACK!

and I'm last to point it out.

  • Because this deal feels quite fishy.. I decided to call Myer. The support staff informed me that they don't have these in stock.
If you must place orders on these, make sure you are okay that Myer could very well cancel them.

Trying to get my order cancelled. Cannot cancel it now due to the staff doing them are not available after 6PM…

  • Gone @#'s just setup SB app attack and gift cards : (

  • Prior to gone still had over 100 in stock .They pulled the plug .

    • They are aware of the listing error now… A lot of cancellations coming up. Knowing Myer… there will be no compensation of any sort.

      • I'm going to punish myself with a Bulmers instead of enjoying a Frothy this time .

      • Hopefully we will get compensated with the new industry standard of $250 🙏

  • BACK IN STOCK!!

    • Surely it can't be a price error if they keep adding stock and don't correct the price, right?

Edit: Oh, they pulled the listing. Uh oh.

  • Tried to buy it yesterday but it was sold out. Checked today and was able to buy it. Thanks for the post.

  • The link is now showing.

"This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available. "

  • Just receive the refund from Myer..

  • Yup refund as well, no explanation.

  • Yep, another refund my way also

Must have run out of stock - terrible inventory victim

  • Refund here too. :(

  • Refund just appeared as well with no other communication received, only 'bonus' was the refund was for the full amount, including postage, which was free with plus so ended up with an extra $11.10 in my account. Still would of preferred the product :)

    • +1

No, you don't get any extra. The transaction item total amount might look that way, but check the actual break down. Some of the refund components were voucher and discount. No compensation basically.

Sorry to disappoint you. While Myer can screw up, feeBay and PayPal don't screw up refunds.

      • Yer, you'll see the refund is broken up, with the portion that would've been the discount off your purchase being a separate refund. This will be sent bac to eBay/Paypal to refund the "voucher" cost.

      • Bah, logged into paypal and see what you mean…

        Thanks for letting me know!

      • -1

No, you don't get any extra.

        Actually you do.

I now have a tax receipt in my name that I can claim a tax deduction for…

        • Damn it. I was hoping you would be paying for some of these given that you are a shareholder. :)

        • Dodgy

  • Refund as well. But they are now back in stock.

    • Don't bother re-order. I talked to a customer support staff yesterday. The main issue is the eBay Myer store stock level can be days behind actual stock level (don't know exactly why). There is no stock whatsoever.
This happened before to my other Myer eBay orders.

  • Myer just cancelled and refunded my order :/

  • +2

Pretty bad form to repeatedly restock the item over 24 hours, only to cancel all orders.

  • +4

Don't forget to leave them negative feedback everyone! Terrible communication. No apology

  • refunded… :(

  • paid with ebay gift card, anyone knows will it refund back to my eBay account? or a gift card? thanks

    • It'll go back to your gift card(s).

      • can I see the transaction history at all?

  • Mine still hasn't been cancelled. Has anyone had their order cancelled recently? Looks like the cancellation wave ended just before lunchtime.

    • Mine neither. But no shipping confirmation either

    • Mine just cancelled. I was one of the first orders too

  • Has anyone actually received confirmation that their order has been posted? Maybe allocating on a FIFO basis!

    • I doubt it. The reason I decided to check with customer support yesterday was due to finding a negative feedback on the same item but one day BEFORE the deal was posted. The buyer was p*ssed and left a negative feedback saying Myer cancelled the order without any reason.

Support also indicated the stock level in eBay for Myer eBay store could be days behind the actual stock level. We also had past example of another merchant suffered from the same issue due to auto relist feature in feeBay.

      • I called and they said they aren't stocking Microsoft products any more. :(

      • My order cancelled

  • +3

Surprised its being cancelled since they kept restocking it…

  • I just received an email from PayPal.

MYER PTY LTD has sent you a $77.95 AUD refund for your purchase on 22 October 2019.

    :(

  • Also just got refunded.

  • got refunded :(

  • Got refunded too!

  • +1

    Received this email
    Hi,
Thanks for shopping with Myer Online.
We’re sorry to advise we are sold out of the Office 365 product nationwide and your order has now been cancelled.

We have initiated a refund for you via your original form of payment. Please allow standard banking timeframes for the funds to be returned to you.

Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused. We thank you for your understanding and we truly hope you have a better online shopping experience with us next time.

    • Same here. Lame excuse as I would have happily waited for stock but they never gave this option. I left negative feedback on eBay to this effect. When I ordered their eBay site said they had stock, but they blamed me for ordering when they had no stock. Myer deserves to go out of business.

  • I was going to leave negative feedback, but I might first contact them and ask why they were (and still are) selling it as per normal if it was sold out nationwide?

Not expecting the order to be fulfilled, but it wouldn't hurt to ask a question or two before leaving negative feedback.

    • +1

why bother - they could have sorted out but just relisted it to raise the amount ordered so as to justify total non supply because of cost.

the fu approach to covering your arse…

  • Once bitten, twice shy for me. Won't bother with Myer if it looks too good to be true…

    • I'd do it again tbh. A deal is a deal, and refunds aren't huge problem. But if they keep doing this it's more negative feedback for them I guess.

    • yeah time wasters
