LOL i was about to post this as well.. saw it at ratemybuy.com.au. This is what they said:

HopShopGo is a freight forwarder that i use when buying stuff from the US and every thing i've bought through them has been pretty good. They sent out a new offer today where you can buy and ipad from the US where the retail price is cheaper. They will then waive the usual delivery fee. The savings aren't huge, but considering apple very rarely discount.. its a pretty good deal. There are only two models on offer.

    Ipads have international warranty

    Prices are:

    16gb WIFI = $504.68 (Aussie price is $579 - Saving is $74.40)

    64gb WIFI & 3G = $836.83 (Aussie price is $949 - Saving is $113)

So if you're buying the 64gb.. its obviously a better deal

Make sure you use shipping code: SHIP36OFF

    • Also got this email.

    • I agree…not a big saving, but considering an apple product
      its not a bad deal.

I have used HopShopGo once to order a Panasonic FZ100 Camera from Amazon and
ended up paying $450 (incl Shipping) for a camera that retails for $650.

I think one of the biggest problem that people have with this service is that they
blow up the shipping cost based on the size of the box. However that would obviously not happen in this case.

    • BigW has the 64GB WIFI & 3G for 898 http://www.bigw.com.au/Offer/iPad2
So 898-837 = save $61 but you will have to go to the store to get it.

      Edit: 837 is in USD isn't it ? In that case 898aud - 780aud = save 118aud ?

      Just FYI

    • Ipad 2 64GB WIFI+3G in Target =$899
      Buy it with 5% giftcard = $899-$45=$854
      Take overseas, claim GST=$854-$81=$773
PS. can't claim GST if bought from US

    • You're comparing USD with AUD aren't you?

      USD 504.68 = AUD 470.46

Aussie price: AUD 579, so the saving is 108.54, not 74.40. (for 16GB WiFi)

    • How much is shipping though?.. thats the question.. don't they charge around 20-30? This deal includes shipping

      • +1

Based on this page, USPS is what Price USA uses and that would cost around $48 minimum for shipping.

        http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/ab_012.htm#ep1572941

        • my order from them only cost usd$21 delivery for shoes, wouldnt be much more than that. $48 is for express.
I'm just offering an alternative if people want to shop around.

        • +1

Just checked with PriceUSA's shipping calculator. According to that the minimum shipping will be $43. You cannot use the cheaper option in this case as the value of the item is more than $150.

  • Would I be charged a $47.60 customs and quarinteen fee?

    • +1

I've imported a lot of items from all over the world and never been charged a fee by customs and I purchase all my macbooks from the US as prices in Australia are a joke and the warranty is international.

    • +6

Moreover, I think based on the price being less than $1000, I don't think customs come into picture at all … Can't confirm this, though.

nice discount, waiting for someone to comment about ipad3 coming out soon

    • I was thinking about that myself but to be honest what more can they really do with a version 3 thats not an bump update rather than a radically different change. Sure you can get more memory or a retina screen but in the end its got all I really wanted that the 1st gen didnt and thats a front facing camera :)

      • to my knowledge Apple has not done a bump update on iOS hardware before, only yearly releases, did not think they will change that strategy this year and supplier rumors have debunked this altogether.

      • Double the resolution on a vertical and horizontal measure is a huge bump update. Front facing camera in comparison is a feature all too likely to have been withheld from the original purposefully to give the illusion of progress later on.

Any chance you can use this to get a 7" Galaxy tab deal?

  • Good price, especially with fast shipping too.

  • Would you then need to fork out for a mains supply plug converter?

    • Good point!
Might need to purchase an plug adaptor at the same time

    • You can charge through USB, and thankfully they are universal (except for micro and mini, but you do not need to worry about that.)

  • :O Good deal!

  • I'm having trouble purchasing! never used this website before. Does anyone know what you need to do to purchase this?

    • +1
      1. Go to this web http://www.hopshopgo.com
      2. find tab at the corner of right top — my account
      3. create your account and log in with your paypal account
      4. use "hop to" search bar and enter "apple.com"
      5. pop up their purchase system, and choose "BUYFORME"
      6. order your ipad2 from apple store until the step of "check out now", copy the address link
      7. complete buyforme details and paste this link to the column "URL (why we need this?)
      8. add to order and log in and process payment from paypal
      9. confirmation letter from hogshopgo if payment cleared, then just waiting for the item ships to your US address ( It has been generated when you open a new account from them)
10.they will send you email when item arrives, then you can use this promotion code and request them send to Aust.

Done and Enjoy. BTW, you will get around 5% of item price rebate as H&G dollars and can be using in the next order.

      Cheers

  • can the discount code be use for other items?
e.g not fir this ipad deal?
thinking of buying a headphone, might be the right time to buy it if this discount code for shipping works also

    • Want to know this too as I want some other items.

  • will any sim work here in Australia for data on the 3g model?

    • yes.

    • That's a good question. I thought that the iPad was locked to Verizon or AT&T in US.

  • I use myusa as there is no surcharge for petrol. What USA store is selling this ioad for $454?

  • Price in USD?

Does this company offer shipping insurance? For $50AUD more you can get it from BigW…for the headache of getting a broken unit delivered I am not sure its worth the saving. Anyone bought one that can confirm if insurance is available or what the total cost is if you do?

    • $505USD = $471 AUD… I will jump in with BIGW if it is selling at $521

    • +1

If you had bothered to click on the link you might have noticed the part where it says "Insurance $3.48/$5.63" which is included in the total price.

  • mannn any chance they would do asus transformer deals as well, aussie retailers are such rip offs :/

  • Hi All,
Why they need to send to US address first?
    Thanks

  • This price of $505 is this a USD price or an AUD price?

Apple will not ship the iPad to an overseas address from the USA store. This is to ensure that local retailers are protected from the price differentials in different countries for the same item.

    • If you look at the comparison table closely, you will see in the title that the prices quoted are in US dollars. So, I believe that the actual price in AUD will be slightly lower than quoted.

Can someone who has bought it today, please verify this?

      • Yep.. i think this is actually the case. That table is in US dollars.. so it will be cheaper still.

  • Aldi to the rescue for power supply http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_18550.htm

  • It equals to $483 with PayPal exchange rate as for today.

    • Paypal exchange rate sucks, it equals to $469.83 AUD with 28 degreescard exchange rate as for today. Also $9.08 USD rebates as H$G dollar, which make finally price down to around $461.39 AUD.

  • Oh man, it happens just as I get my tax return…. Bad timing hahaha.
