    Let the price jacking begin.

    • there have been good deals with futu. i just bought a 2070 super for 789 with free cod key.

      • Can you get the free COD key without installing the card? I've got the same card sitting on my shelf

    • +3

Whoops missed a word, got a bit excited.

      • Stop being so careless mate xD

G.Skill 16GB Ripjaws V (2X8GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Gaming Desktop Memory RAM Kit for $103.20 + Delivery (Free with eBay Plus) seems to be a great price for local stock :)

Single 16GB Stick is also $95.20

    • Damn gone already

  • +8

Yeah looking at a random assortment of items there's been a fair bit of price jacking already. after discount prices are similar to other stores relying on other regular 10% or $50 off promos.

    • What's the $50 promo?

    • +2

Note down prices / take screenshots and file to ACCC next time.

Kogan HAS been fined for this.

Priced up a new PC with parts from here and Umart - but wondering if I should wait for another Computer Alliance ebay sale as they are local to me for any returns if I have any problems. Have not had any issues with Futu before, but never dropped 1700 bucks either.

    Came up with the below

    CPU - Ryzen 5 3600 - $295.20
    MB - MSI B450 T/Hawk Max - $172.00
    RAM - G Skill 16gb Ripjaw 3200 - $103.20
    GPU - G/Byte 2070 Super W/Force - $756.00
PSU - Seasonic 550w Focus Gold - $118 from Umart
    SSD - 500gb Adata XPG SX8200 $109 from Umart
    Netowrk Card - Asus AC56 - $71 from Umart
    Case - NZXT H510 $135.20

    Total of $1759.60

Any thoughts or suggestions - I could get a PSU from Futu but I've always gone with Seasonic and never had any problems.
I basically want to eventually game at 1440p when I upgrade my monitor one day. But currently will only be 1080p at 60hz with this system until then.

Games played are basically a lot of sport/racing games
    CS GO
    GTA V
    Witcher series
    Ass Creed
    Skyrim

So figured for those games 1440p would look amazing. And assume the 2070 Super can handle that?

    • +4

Are you sure you want to pay for a network card? You could just upgrade to the MSI B450 Carbon AC and have it integrated on the MB. You could probably save around 50 aud.

      • +1

This is a very valid point. Didnt think any B450 came with Wifi - Would I be looking at a decrease in performance having oboard over a stand alone card?

Plus I'd be looking at BIOS update too I assume.

        • Really no noticeable difference either way

        • +1

Often the MB WiFi solution also grants you Bluetooth, which you may or may not consider an advantage. Just fyi =]

      • Wait, what? A $170 mobo doesn't come with an integrated NIC!?!?

        • +1

Ethernet, sure. But hardly any MBs contain WiFi without a price increase for it.

    • +1

gonna agree with misu p - network cards aren't worth the money since most motherboards come with good network cards inbuilt. spend that money on a motherboard upgrade, cpu cooler or bigger ssd.

      • but if you got a very high quality one, with WiFi6 support as well for example, you'd be able to use it over a several builds.

        • That doesn't change the fact that modern motherboards come with WiFi/BT inbuilt, making it an unnecessary purchase.

    • +1

2070 SUPER will handle it for sure

    • +1

      Ass Creed

Where do I buy this game from?

    • I personally ended up building nearly my entire PC using computer alliance and 20% off deals. I found they had nearly the best pricing or the best with free plus shipping, a good track record of handling returns and customer service, etc.

If you can hold out, I’d also wait for Black Friday which isn’t too far away now.

  • I want to build a desktop PC with the following option:

    AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU 12 Core 24 Thread 64 MB Cache 3.9GHzAM4 Desktop Processor $764
Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE WIFI AMD Socket AM4 ATX $359
Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER GAMING OC 8GB Graphics Video Card DP USBC $783
    G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB 2X16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Gaming Desktop Memory RAM Kit $199.02
Corsair RM750x 750W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Unit PSU $175.02
Corsair Hydro Series H115i RGB 280mm PLATINUM Liquid CPU Cooler Heatsink Fan $209.60

    Total: $2489

Could someone help me with inspection?

    Thanks million times.

    • +5

Pop all of the data into this site and you will not only get compatibility but also the lowest prices (may exclude ebay discounts)…
      https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/

    • A ssd.

    • +1

What will you be using it for? mostly work with slight gaming?

Just make sure you get a RAM kit that can be pushed to 3600.

Just for gaming, you could get a better GPU while saving on the CPU.
For productivity, it is probably fine.

    • Storage? Case?

    • All looks fine, the only thing that stands out to me is the RAM.

Ideally, 3rd gen Ryzen is better suited with 3200C14 or 3600C16 RAM when it comes to latency and performance.

  • +1

Is there a easy way to search their ebay store? (Or any way at all?)

  • +1

      • +5

Then, the effective discount is ~1.3% (or 4.4% if you compared against MSY price), far from 20% off.

  • Can i use gift card with this discount code??

    • yes

  • +14

    3900X Retail Price $789

TP-Link TL-PA9020P KIT AV2000 2-Port Gigabit Powerline Passthrough Starter Kit $95.20 is a pretty good price.

  • $295 for a Ryzen 5 3600 is decent. It's not 20% less than the standard $315, but it's good.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Picked up the Samsung CJ791 Ultrawide monitor. Not a super duper saving, but one none the less. Thanks!

  • +2

managed to snag one of these SSDs for $36: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/362734587958

although I think it's a stuff-up by futu online as they have the exact same SSD listed at the jacked price of $62: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/240GB-SSD-Crucial-BX500-Series-2…

(since this is such an obvious and transparent example of futu's price jacking, despite me being able to take advantage of their carelessness in failing to take down the cheaper product first, I'm still negging this offer).

    • +2

      geez your hard to please

    • There has been no jacking for that item.
Neither listings were jacked according to Ebay Revisions.

      • +2

They clearly run both and take one or the other down depending what promo they are running. Why else would they have the same item with a different price? Or do you work for Futu Online?

        • Damn xyron, yeah, I'd love to hear the offical story on that from a Futu rep…

        • Not sure why the ad hominem attack. No, I don't work for Fuji Online.
I am not speculating (unlike yourself) I simply stated a fact (ie. neither listing were jacked).
My fact may be irrelevant (ie. Fuji Online may well be manipulating their listings) but it is certainly the case that neither listing were jacked.

          • +2

@Eeples: It is completely irrelevant that neither listing was itself jacked. That would be exactly why they would maintain two separate item listings for the same item, at different prices. Can you think of any other reason why they might maintain two listings at vastly different prices for the same item?

            • @xyron: Of course I can. New stock. New stock from different suppliers. Listing error. Incompetence. Who knows how Fuji Online makes listings?
But certainly, I can also see the jacking reason too.

          • +1

@Eeples: The way they list hides the price jacking for each listing but it is none the less price jacking for the item. your comment is not just irrelevant it is wrong as manipulating the system this way is still price jacking. you don't price jack a listing, you price jack an item.

        • The cheaper one has $14.95 postage for some reason and the more expensive one is listed as free postage.

The $62 listing actually works out cheaper for non eBay Plus users.

        • It's part of eBay's rules when running the 20% promotion. You can't increase the price during or shortly prior to the promotion.
To get around it sellers simply stop one listing and start another at a higher price

  • +4

    Can’t support blatant price jacking.

  • Suggestion for the Ozbargain army: Add line in title of post where price-jacking has occurred? Eg.: *BEWARE JACK JACK JACK

I think this will be very helpful.

  • +1

Thanks for this. Got some decent bargains for a build.

  • Any good budget graphics cards?

  • +1

Even if after the 20% the prices on these are a dollar or two better, it still puts me off as you are encouraging poor behaviour. Sellers (not just ebay) are getting screwed.

Shouldn't be rewarding someone whose prices are ONLY competitive after a fake discount.

  • +1

I'm not sure I can call this a 'deal' when clearly the prices have been jacked up. You might be getting something slightly cheaper but its far from a 20% discount and these sort of stores should be avoided during this so called 'sale'

  • 20% off a price jacked up 21%?!?!?! (512gb microsd). That's a no then!
