Ordered last night to pick up in Melbourne today, this morning got an email that there is a delay and they will let me know later - no detail on when it can be picked up. BS
Went into store and they said that they had sold out yesterday early afternoon even though the website still showed stock in the evening when I ordered. Said it should come through Monday or Tuesday.
FB customer service responded to my message too:
“We've had a look into your order and can see that it is in the process of being sourced in another nearby store to be sent over to the Melbourne store.
Typically, if an item is showing in stock it should be ready on the same day or the next business day however collection timeframes are subject to changes in circumstances. This could be that there were a large number of orders placed for this item at your nominated store has sold out before being able to complete your order.
We can confirm that your order is currently in progress and once it is ready for collection you will receive an SMS/email to let you know it is ready to collect.”
I bit the bullet and got one. Last night plenty of stores around me had stock but when I checked before most stores around me all had no stock… Ozbargained?

I have emailed in, the excuse of no stock is flimsy, it's not a scarce or unique product, and they are due more in. They are an international company and failures of the stock systems are not our problem and shouldn't be a an excuse to impart bad customer service. I am guessing business is so good enough the can afford to alienate customers.
I agree. It doesn't make sense for them to cancel orders, if they didn't want to sell too many at a cheaper price I shouldn't have been able to buy it in the first place (although I wouldn't be surprised if their inventory system was slow and sucked). If they are due more in they should honour the price. Pretty dodgy that my order went to "under review" like wtf.
Although if I don't get it it'll be $379 saved for the time being, and I will go to another company with my cash if there's another sale. Does leave a bitter taste in your mouth though (sort of like the wireless Sony earbuds with Qantas).
Just picked my order up from plenty valley in Vic. The lady said there was a few left out back still on pallet.
Bad Customer Service by Target. Purchased last night with still showing stock online. Order processed normally. After half an hour received email with delay in order processing. Received email today for order cancellation. called customer service as I just purchased Gift cards to buy this. Now I am stuck with $379 gift card which have no use for me. In a way my money is stuck and have to sit on it until next promotion. Advised buy target team so sorry item is out of stock. Searched online few store in Queensland still have stock. Even I called one store and put console on hold. Informed the customer service there is stock and on hold for me put my money towards that store for order pickup. There response sorry refund is processed nothing we can do. WTF there is still stock in stores all over Australia and Target is cancelling orders for no valid reason. So please if anyone received cancellation email don't try to waste your more than half an hour time waiting for inline customer service. Even if you tried and get hold of them there answer will be sorry

No stores seem to be showing stock at all. I've searched stores near Moe, Wagga Wagga, Kalgoorlie and even Alice Springs LOL. No stock in any store. Either this was Ozbargained like crazy (I doubt it) or they did some bait and switch. So weird.

For those who had their online orders fulfilled (delivery), I’m curious to know when your order was placed. I ordered at 1:47pm and just had mine cancelled, yet I know of others who ordered long after I did who had their orders fulfilled.

Well mine was maybe around 7:26pm, 31st October according to my e-mail confirmation by target…. and my switch was just delivered at 8:30am this morning….
Edit: I like how someone negged me, some people wanted to know the times and details of successful purchases, I hardly rigged the system.
My email confirmation came through approximately 6 hours before yours, yet my order was cancelled due to insufficient stock. It’s frustrating that they didn’t process them in order, or at least cancel them in a timely fashion. There was plenty of stock available in store when I ordered, but by the time I received notification of my order being cancelled (over 36 hours later), they’d all been sold.

Was told they have to send from another store and now it's cancelled all together. Load of bullshit. I paid with 3 gift cards and the rest on card. They better not give me gift cards no use to me.

Ordered the Neon switch on Thursday, 24hrs later they cancelled the order.
Ordered the Grey switch on Friday, order showed as "confirmed" website Friday evening, showed as "In Progress" on website early Monday morning, and now late Monday morning they've cancelled the order again (almost 72hrs after payment).
Both times with no communication whatsoever.

I'm a little concerned, ive ordered it on the 31st and is still stuck on 'created' status, its not looking good :(
Order cancelled as well. Placed order 10am on 1/11 with stock saying same day pick-up (Status = Confirmed). Stayed in that status through the weekend and changed status this morning with 'In Progress' and then to 'Cancelled' with stock being the issue. Even more annoying is customer service. By phone, the usual 'we have longer wait times than usual'… with estimate staying at 20 minutes even when staying on the call for 20 minutes already. Chat is even worse, for 3 times, when I was next in the queue, chat will go 'offline'. So perhaps Target is not quite there yet with regards to doing online orders.

Received the cancel order email today at lunch time.
Ordered on 1st Nov evening, was told pick up on 8th Nov which I'm happy to do so, I am also ok if I have to wait till December.
I received an email that mine was cancelled but managed to ring a store and they have 1 left in stock. So I have organised with the customer service to get that item sent to a closer store for me to pick up. Spoke to the store to confirm it was the Nintendo switch in a red box and neon. So I’m hoping I can get this sent out.
I was in a same scenario. Got mine order cancelled. Find 1 Nintendo Switch left in my nearby Target. Called them to keep it on hold for me.Rang customer service explained everything requested them to transfer my order for that particular store for pickup where I was managed to find stock. Customer service response Sorry that's not possible as upon sending cancellation email there refund process start. F___ U Target. If you are able to get one Mate I will surely say Lucky you.
Just got confirmation just a moment ago that they have a Nintendo switch for me. I told the store manager that I have already been refunded my money. I asked if it was still possible to get it at the $379 that I paid for and they said yes. I also confirmed it’s the 2019 model in the red box and they said it was.
So I’m looking forward to picking it up tomorrow. It really bugs me that they will have stock next week and can’t just honour the orders they accepted. No harm in going back and see what you can do.
My money was refunded and I called up and asked about the gift cards I used. They said I could have it back in gift cards or cash so they are refunding the amount I used in gift cards to my bank account. I went down to jb hifi before and got them to price match Harvey Norman for $399. Extra 20 bucks but at least I have it now and better service than target and their bullshit.
My order got cancelled too, and paid with gift card, then I contacted customer service they said refund was unsuccessful they will organise a EFT refund for me.
I picked up a 2019 Switch at Target Redbank Plains yesterday… the Target website said the store was out of stock but there was a single unit left on the shelf when I called to check. So ring around and check with the actual store and you might still be able to get this deal, and the 50OFF code is still usable in store :)
Target just told me that if the website says that your item is "Ready to Collect" (in your order history) that the item isn't actually Ready to Collect in store, it's just that's it's ready to be sent to the store for collection lol wtf!
Guess I got pretty lucky, my order was fulfiled in the end. Ordered at around 10:40am and the store I ordered at said it had a few units left or whatever. Order went to hold the same day (Friday) then the following Tuesday the order went off hold onto processing, then the Friday after that my order went to Ready to Collect in the morning and that afternoon I received an SMS and email advising to pick up (for Target you need to receive the SMS and email because "Ready to Collect" doesn't mean ready in store).
Pretty happy with the Switch, it's an amazing console. Love the fact that I can play games on the go and take it with me!
