      • Might give amex chat a go then

        • And you can cut and paste a copy of the conversation.

    • I had no issue with them. But the local chat was disappointing

    • amex chat experience is a hit and miss

i find you may get more better experience non local centre response. however chance you need follow up calls to confirm getting your credits or charges sort out.

local are relative little more arrogant attitude towards handling customers. sometimes you can hear from the accent. however again, some rare case is different

  • Pyrmont bridge convenience store (19 Pyrmont Bridge Rd, Camperdown NSW 2050), $1 surcharge

    Kingswood NEWSAGENCY- No surcharge

    Rooty Hill NEWSAGENCY- No surcharge

    • All OK with multiple cards today. Thanks for sharing them.

      • No worries

Mount Druitt newsagency is also listed but they don't do Opal top ups.

        • Just to add to this St Martin's Newsagency in Blacktown also does not do topups on Amex although they are on the small shop list

An update, Pinewood newsagency does not accept Amex for miki top up.

    • Wow really. I managed to get 4 in early Nov.

    Done my myki Melbourne run:

    1. Wattle park pharmacy (Amcal) 1123 Riversdale Rd Surrey Hills
    2. Armadale Mini Mart (IGA Exress) Corner of High St and Orrong Road Armadale
    3. Prahran Central Pharmacy 229 Commercial Road South Yarra
    4. Prahran Convenience 196 Commercial Rd Prahran
    5. The Summit - southbank

All were without issues, no fuss, no surcharges. surprisingly efficient and quick.

Only one that wasnt correct on the wiki was Pinewood, as reported by others - they didnt accept amex for myki topups.

  • Coogee village newsagency (180 Coogee Bay Rd, Coogee NSW 2034) 3% surcharge (60c) for opal top-up

  • Newspower Go in Top Ryde City shopping centre has iTunes gift vouchers through their ePay terminal (and other gift cards in general) and happily accept Amex/Shop Small with 4% surcharge.

Apparently the physical cards with withdrawn for some reason. The woman working there was nice but she didn't know how to work the ePay. The man was very amiable and helpful.

So that's me setup for discounted Netflix and Disney+ for the following year.

Nextra in Chatswood only charged 2% surcharge as opposed to 5% in previous years and as stated in the wiki.

is that the Westfield's one or the chase one?

      • +1

Sorry should have stated. It’s Westfield.

        • Thanks. I did top up there.
What about nextra chase. Did you try your going there too?

          • @bashar20: No I already maxed out my 5 allotments.

            • @uggugg: I maxed up today utilising the Roseville and Lindfield ones.

              • @bashar20: Are there Nextras in Roseville and Lindfield?

                • @ihbh: I meant newsagents there.

                  • @bashar20: Good to know they are small shops. Did you get it from the spreadsheet or map?

                    • @ihbh: Comments on OZB. Roseville just outside station. Lindfield inside station as you go up stairs.

Today I received a manual adjustment credit of $10 from Amex.

Description was Dummy Level 8/Hierarchy Re-Structure.

    • +8

What a coincidence. I got a similar performance review feedback today

Did not receive an email nor a credit for a place listed on Shop Small and confirmed in the Wiki as a GoCard top up.

On checking the Amex site the Shop Small offer has disappeared as a Saved Offer from the cards. I'm not sure that this is the problem as it seems to have disappeared from all cards.

I guess this requires an Amex chat to sort out.

I talked to AMEX chat and they confirmed my offer was still valid and I had 3 more to go even though all traces of it had left the Offer areas.

    • An update on Myer News for topping up the Go Card, the credit took three days to come through and the email never arrived indicating a successful Shop Small.

    No surcharge. Multiple cards.

    Also sell iTunes gift cards.

    • did you get the credit for this one? It's not on the official map so just wondering

      • Initially it wasn’t on the map.
I contacted Amex and they have manually processed the credits.
The have now included the merchant on the map.

  • Did my opal top-up @ Darling Harbour View Convenience Store in Lime St, Sydney next to City Cellars… Multiple cards and no surcharge, received confirmation emails

Pretty sure they dropped off last year. Wasn't game to check then, but good luck!

      • I contacted Amex on chat. They are listed in the spreadsheet but don't currently appear on the map. The city outlets do appear on the map. Amex said there was an issue with the way Yayoi in Chatswood were registered and said they would make a manual credit.

  • My mom tried to use her DJ AMEX card (Shop Small offer saved in the card)
at the Laurent Bakery at the Glen Shopping centre, in Melbourne.
But the staff said that their credit card terminal does not accept DJ AMEX cards ?!

Has anyone had problems having their DJ cards accepted ?
I went to the same bakery a few weeks earlier and had no problems using my Velocity Platinum AMEX card.

    • +1

I used my Amex Reserve Card at the Laurent Bakery (@ the Glen) during 2019 shop small, there was no issue - I even got the $10 back. Surely this is a misunderstanding, ask your mom to contact Amex and explain the situation and they may credit the $10. I have done this in 2018 shop small where I had a similar encounter.

  • Should i pay these shop small spends with points as 30% off.

    • Got the same offer. Funny stuff from AMEX!

    • 15,310 points equals $100 off Shop Small Merchants.
20,000 points gets you a $100 Amazon, Coles etc. gift card.

I think if you are into the Frequent Flyer game then that's still probably better value.

      • So i should still leave it for QFF…
