Telstra 12-Month Post Paid 60GB $65 Per Month & $500 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card - Port-in- In-Store Only @ JB Hi-Fi

1211

Looks like this deal is back on according to a banner I was just presented on https://www.jbhifi.com.au/collections/mobile-phones (https://images.ctfassets.net/i2qsnovxhn7q/59vYeF4YD6vvW0zcWH…)

My previous Telstra Family and Friends plan (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/342769) is up this fortnight so I think it's time for me to make the jump.

Does anyone have a preferred port out -> port back pathway that should work for me prior this deal expiry on 27th Nov?

Edit 12pm: Deal marked as expired as the offer is no longer a $500 JB Gift Card but $500 JB Gaming Credit.

>$500 credit towards any gaming products - consoles, games, gaming laptops, gaming chairs, accessories.

Update: 10Pm Monday 18 Nov

Deal reactivated again, and runs until 27 November 15th December

  • These deals are always hectic

I'm interested to know if people were able to switch plans after via Telstra live chat like we all did early in the year.

I remember how crazy experience was for me that I have successfully went from the 65 to 69 then applied to $10 discounts to bring it down 49 and I got the television if anybody remembers the deal.

Crazy part I have like $130 termination Telstra was like we will help with that and take off $30 but I swear my last bill didn't reflect that just the difference in the plans and the switchover days so I'm pretty stoked

I wish everybody the best when it comes to hunting these deals and dealing with Telstra

    • I did the 69 to 49 last time as well. Just wondering is this still available in some way? or what discounts can you get now?
      thanks.

      • Yeah I'm wondering the same

  • Any idea what’s the ETC on this plan? And how long does it take to issue JB card? Thanks

  • This is so much better than the 240 boost deal, especially if you can get port in bonus and reduce to 55 P/mth

    • +2

how does one reduce it to 55/mth?

      • Jump onto Online Chat and ask them.

I got the $10 port in discount before I switched to M2M by saying I was told instore I was eligible for it and to jump on chat to get it organised. YRMV

    • Assuming you don't get a port in bonus I'm not sure that it's really "so much better". $240 minimum cost v's $780 minimum cost plus a $500 gift card. What am I missing besides a bit more data?

    • No international calling though

  • +3

JB Hi Fi made a mistake and took down the ad off it’s website.

    • yeah afaik this deal is a mistake

    • It was pretty clearly uploaded overnight see the timestamp in the URL :(

    • But yes it is no longer present on the page I saw it on

  • I think it was $400 last month and now it's $500. I purchased an S10+ for $699 with the voucher I received from a sim purchase (managed to get $500 then instead of the usual $400). The store however waits for the port out to take place before they hand over the voucher to you. It was a good deal, though I miss the Unmetered Netflix and higher GB data I had on my earlier Optus plan. I've retained the other Optus sims in the household to use on Netflix at home.

  • here we go again.. whos here from the s10e deal :P

  • -1

can I port out after join the plan?

  • +1

They’ve removed that banner the $500 isn’t a gift card it’s credit off gaming products and it’s being fully enforced

    • +1

      ew

    • Not doubting you at all, but where does it mention that it's only off gaming products? I buy enough games for this to still be a good deal to me.

      • +1

In store there’s vouchers and flyers posted up saying it’s off gaming products
Head office are strictly enforcing it
It’s similar to the $500 phone credit on the 24 month $65 plan

        • How does it work? Do you have to spend it all at once. Do you get a gift card that's limited to gaming products… How does it work. Can get a $400 jb hifi card at my store as an alternative.

    • :(

    • Seems like a strange offer. $500 gaming credit? How many people do they expect that to convert?

      • +1

Parents who want to get their kids consoles for Xmas

  • did this happen like 2 weeks ago with jb hifi as well and got ton of negs?

  • Damn, LG V30+ is back up to $799 at JB otherwise would have been great to combine with this offer.

  • Hi All,

I just have some questions for people who have signed up recently.
I did this deal a few months ago with the Huawei P30 $199.
I'm existing customer, signed up new contract under existing account. So 2 contracts 1 account.
At the time Telstra was also offering $49pm 60gb 12 months.
Online chat - told them I would have just signed up with that deal. Asked me if I received any coupons or whatever. I said no. Plan was changed to $49 a month.

Started another chat, transferred my numbers from old to new contract. Closed old contract.

I didn't port out or get charged any extra fees.

Just wondering is this method still possible and what is the discounts we can attempt to request via online chat?

  • +1

This deal is so frequent it feels like its regular price to sign up

  • Anyway of getting or adding on a 5g service with this?

    • +1

JB Plans recieve the 5G service from the get go

  • OP can you please edit the title or classify this as expired as it’s for Gaming Products

  • Hey guys! Just wanted to know what exactly is the idea behind this deal.

If i port can i move to a cheaper plan or port back to another service provider and still keep the $500 GC? And how exactly is it done?

    • +1

its not a gift card anymore — JB keeps changing their minds.

      Annoying as hell.

      • +1

Thanks for your reply. Yes it does suck!

  • Do they have any smaller deals going? Like $50 a month with a $400 gift card?

  • +1

I've always been attracted to these deals, until I realise that I barely use more than 2GB per month.

    • +1

Current deals at the mo are absolute rubbish…I'm with Optus, at the end of a $59 Iphone 8 20GB deal (sold the phone sealed for $900). Current deals are ridiculous. Iphone 11 4gb for $66 (not enough data) or 60gb for $89…not too mention now 33 month contract (36 month but first 3 are free). Who uses 60gb of data on the phone???….crazy. Iphone 8 and Iphone 11 both cost circa $1100 new. Such a rip, I will be going elsewhere.

      • +2

I’m in the same boat, at the end of that great $59 deal (well $69 for me as I paid extra to get the larger capacity phone) that suits me well and there’s nothing out there that comes close at the moment. Think I might just grab a prepaid sim and roll with that for a while until a deal comes along

        • +2

How is there nothing between 4gb and 60gb? Unreal….I spoke to them, told them I think their plans stink….offered me a discount but still no decent deal to be made. Told them I'm going elsewhere. I've been with Optus for 20 years btw so I'm no blow-in just having a rant….I've always been able to find a decent deal up until now. Anyways…Good luck with your search!

          • @whorishmouth: Yeah same actually I was with Virgin(RIP) for my iPhone 6, but had a look around earlier this year and decided that going prepaid boost was by far the cheapest, especially if you buy the phones outright with minor discounts and TRS.

  • +1

niiiiice - I missed everything but at least this post was a reminder to churn out of Telstra and await some magical christmas offer =)

  • waiting for the $600 GC … not long to go! Lol

  • The deal is published again.
Went to my local JBHifi store and they honored the deal.

    • which store was this? Bondi wasn't offering it.

  • Wasn't advertised in the Bourke Street store in Melbourne.

    Is this deal active?

  • any big bois know if this is active?

  • Went to JB at Albert St at Brisbane CBD yesterday and was told ony $400 gift card applies. Very weird.

  • Just signed up yesterday, JB Hifi explained the $500 was a price error and was removed form their website within 20 minutes etc
Got the $400 deal which is still pretty good - the gift cards can be used online, just waiting for black friday
Proting didn't work, so i am stuck without a functioning phone until Telstra can fix their problem… of course I'm setup for the bill within minutes
    In summary - Deal expired

  • Churned out of Telstra to Kogan mobile today (in anticipation for Telstra deals down the track) - super quick port out process.

-Received SIM today, went online to activate
-Hit submit on Kogan's portal —> got an SMS from them asking to confirm.
-Replied SMS with confirmation —> got an SMS from Telstra advising port out request
-2 mins later got "Welcome, your account is active" email from Kogan. Port out of Telstra completed

Whole port out process took a few mins to complete from request through to active service again!

    :O

    • Yep had the same experience last week. Just tryig to decide what to port back into

      • I am wait for some decent sub $50 and >45GB per month deals to pop up? probably wishful thinking for a telstra one though

  • +1

I am assuming they deleted my post about this deal today cause they are reusing the old deal to tell people about it. Hope people do not miss out on seeing this. But all stores have started this deal again as of this morning. I posted a deal about it with the flyer they gave me this morning, goes until 2nd of December!

    • Or they think you work for jb hi-fi, being that you've been a member since an hour or so ago

      • True but as I mentioned in the deal I posted I have been a long time viewer of the site and never had the need to post. Grabbed a load of deals from the site, was on my way to do the Broadband $100 gift card and the sales people threw this deal at me. Snapped a pic, upped the deal. Just was trying to make sure people didn't miss out.

  • +1

Signed up earlier today and got the $500 GC.

  • Also signed up today @ Pitt St mall. $500 gc

  • Signed up yesterday and received the $500 GC. I also paid for a casual data only SIM card for $15 and received another $100 JBHifi GC.
So $600 in total minus $15.

The sales rep mentioned that the $100 GC it will expire soon i.e. most likely today. Ask them and see what happens.

    • Which store?

    • Hey I believe JB gift cards don't have an expiry. But good effort getting that deal.
      Ive just finished the $49 a month 25gb Samsung s8 $200 gc 2 year contract. :D

      • I think he meant the deal with $15 data plan.
I have just checked with a store. Deal expired on 23rd

    • do you get the $500 gift card when you sign up?

  • Brilliant perfect timing. Have done my 30 days of service with Kogan.

  • OP here… can confirm this is on for real this time, with a $500 gift card no questions asked.

  • Is it still possible to downgrade to the $45 plan after signing up for this one? From what I saw in previous deals some people did just that.

    • should be possible after 1 month.

    • I have tried, they are making it difficult.

      • Just through live chat or are you going in stores and asking?

        • Just through chat so far.

          • @SiliconBased: Thought I'd check back, any luck on downgrading plans?

            • @FormulaWon: Yesterday I messaged again, specifically asking to change to the black Friday plan (same plan, 50/month).

The rep said they couldn't as that was only for new customers, BUT them he offered to change me to the medium Telstra 'plan' (same as the JB Hi-Fi plan, but $5 less, and month to month). I confirmed multiple times there was no cancellation fees or any other fees, which he assured me there wasn't. We went through all the terms and conditions for the medium plan; he also gave me a reference number. I made sure to screenshot everything

So far nothing has changed on my side (on the app or website, no emails either) but they basically locked themselves in to changing me…

I'll update when I know for certain.

Hopefully I don't get a message from JB Hi-Fi asking for their gift card back 🤣

              • @SiliconBased: Oh that's interesting, I'll try to give that a go, sounds like a dream if it doesn't go wrong.

Edit: Seems like the black friday deal is off, unsurprisingly, so not sure what else I could try to ask them about ha.

  • Just checked the website its not there

  • Please help me clarify this and correct me if my calculations are incorrect….

So if my prev 2 yo Telstra Family & Friends $59/m minus $10 (value cust bonus, ie. $49/m) has expired and I want to do this deal and get a new phone, in essence I am really only saving $308 plus more data but I have to first "try" to port out and back in to be eligble for this?

    Retaining old plan $49/month

    This deal $65/month.

    Difference $16/month, ie for 12mth = $192 extra

$500 gift card minus $192 = $308 savings if only I can use the gift card say to purchase a new phone?

I am just wondering if the effort of porting out and in could be worth $308 savings or even maybe I could find the phone I want cheaper than at JB HiFi…. (iphone 11 pro 256gb)

    • +1

      FL,
      Worth the effort :)

    • +1

It sounds complicated, but its minimal effort.

  • Can this be done at the same time as buying a phone?

eg Walk in to the store, port a phone number and buy a phone in the same transaction, or one after the other?

Or do you only get the voucher after the port has completed, eg 48hrs+?

    • +1

The card does get allocated after port into Telstra is complete. Took about 15 mins for that to happen for me yesterday from Kogan

  • Is there a minimum port out period?

    • I want to know too - i remember reading like 28-30 days somewhere as minimum period though

    • -3

Ported in from Circles, downgraded plan and ported out to Vodafone all in one day. No Etc generated so far and my next bill has already arrived.

      • when downgraded plan did it say ETC for changing plan is $390???

      • Why neg the deal then?

  • Does anyone know if TGG is also running this deal? I preferred TGG GC

  • 4 failed attempts to change plans without ETC.
Have managed to get $10 discount p/m

    • did u do on app or online chat??

    • is this $10 p.m port-in discount? would be keen to see if this still works. would be worth considering for myself (coming from a lower $ plan)
