  • Very tempting to upgrade from the non pro version. The footage on these looks mint!

    • +1

I'm in the same boat as I'm still rocking the ancient G1WH that's on its last legs.

      • I have 2 of those in my car too. They've survived a lot but its getting time to upgrade.

    • Would prefer sth with local warranty since these uses battery, highly doubt if its gonna survives the heat.

      • Had mine since the start of the year, it's survived 42 degree days in South Australia better than the interior of my car, some of my car plastics have warped whilst the camera still runs fine.

  • I'm confused, ADAS (GPS) is mentioned here, but it's stated not included on DX and then further below it implies it is included?? Is it included?

    • The separate GPS module is not included.

      • Thanks for clarifying

Looks like another $30 to add it on (Amazon AU) so that's not bad.

        • +3

          https://www.amazon.com.au/70mai-Control-Parking-Monitor-140F…
This one seems to have that module included. AUD99.99. Technically same price. You might get more cashback with Amazon though

          • @Averell: What is the benefit of GPS module? Is it worth getting for an extra $30?

            • +1

@bashar20: For optional rendering of speed approximation & GPS coordinates in the recorded footage.

          • @Averell: If you look at the questions for this item it says no GPS included

            • @tds: I spoke to the Seller, they said it does include the GPS module. 😊

  • How do you install, can you DIY or better get it installed ?

    • DIY only takes a little bit of work.

      • Any tips on how to pass the cable to the cigi lighter in the front?

        • +3

Run along top of windscreen under trim, down under A pillar to get behind dash, then over to centre and there is usually a gap somewhere to bring it to the front. Check YouTube for your specific car as there might be some hints on there.

        • +1

The roof trim and the rubber seal between the passenger door frame and A pillar usually have a bit of flex. Tuck the cable in with the included prying tool into the roof trim, then down the a pillar trim, then depending on where your ciggy port is, either under the glovebox or under the passenger seat rails to the ciggy port. Always start from the camera to the ciggy port, that way if you're short on cable you can just buy a cheap MSY USB extension cable to fill the distance rather than restart.

Just bought it via Amazon Prime AU for $99 with the GPS module. 😊

GPS module isnt included with that

        • That's the one I bought and it does come with the GPS module. Thanks for linking it!

            @dave78234:

Weird someone asked on the listing

Does this include the GPS unit?

            Answer this question
A: The unit does NOT include a GPS mount, however SOME suppliers include the GPS in their package, just check what is included.

            • @Gomo: Weird cause the main photo of the listing says (GPS module included).

The Q&A section was answered by one person a day ago. And the first review talks about the GPS features.

Based on the main photo saying it's included, and it's a Prime item, I'm happy to take the risk and complain if it doesn't include the module.

              • @dave78234: The first review says

                needs the GPS mount

                • @Autonomic: From my understanding, the reviewers are not the seller. They my be giving answers w.r.t. the items they bought, not exactly same as the item being sold in that link

                  • @Averell: Confirmed with the seller that the GPS module comes with it 😉

Will the operating temp be an issue in Summer with heat? Impact Battery? Operating temperature: -10℃~60℃

    • I have the same question.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/493230 <<< this is for the non-pro version. Many concerns.

      • +4

Obviously I can't speak for this pro version but my Chinese basic version has survived many a hot summer's day including being left in the sun and then turned on when the car starts. I've had mine since January 2018 and it's still greeting me in Mandarin after all this time.

        • My non-pro Chinese version is going strong, but always loses track of the date/time which is frustrating. Anyone else have same issue? All I need to do is connect to the camera via the app on my phone and it’ll auto set correct date/time, but not long before it loses it again.

          • @Marty131: That's usually a sign that the battery is failing if you have a battery model.

    • I am using it from last summer till now in Sydney, no problem so far, and I parked the car on the open street most of the time.

Great review clear winner for me Viofo A119 V3 obviously higher price

Wow, thanks for the review. A119 v3 it is

Some concerns with this xiaomi reading licenceplates in motion

  • Is this the latest dashcam from Xiaomi? Or there is some more recent version available?

  • Paid AUD$88.04 (MasterCard, Inc gst) from aliexpress on singles day for this with gps. Missed out on one of the US$10 vouchers, but found a US$7 that worked plus a US$1 store voucher. The price before vouchers or gst markup was US$59.99

Anyhow, as it included the GPS module I thought that was decent. Have had the original barrel job for over a year and it's still working well - might try moving that to the rear window….

  • is it english voice or mandarin?

Does it only record when you tell it to or always record?

If you tell it "record this" then it starts recording? But it isn't always recording anyway?

    • *English
      * Always recording. Voice activation can be useful for “locking video” so It is not automatically overwritten (e.g. if you witness a crash, you want to mark the file as important so it doesn’t get overwritten).

      • when you tell it to record permanent video, does it start recording after you tell it to, or does it save what was already recorded up to that point?

In other words, do you have to tell it to record this before the event (crash for example) happens or after? If before, it means you have to anticipate it.

  • What is the point of a dashcam?

    • +10

Helps you dash faster. But only if your name is Cameron.

Makes it easy to film porn on your bonnet.

    • point of a dashcam

      You asked!
      Answer: For YouTube videos ;)

    • One can work out the focal point of a camera with a little math.
You need to know what sensor you have, aperture, etc.

Without the complexity, you can learn how to find the focal length here: https://sciencing.com/calculate-focal-length-lens-7650552.ht…

  • Aliexpress has the GPS module for $20 AUD delivered (+GST)

  • +1

FWIW The GPS module is used for parking monitor/lane departure etc. With the latest firmware it can show speed and location on the screen when played on the dashcam or via the app, although weirdly does not save that to the video. Some have reported issues after updating, so if the dash cam comes with firmware older than v1.0.5 it might be worth avoiding updating until the next version expected in a month or so. https://na-bbs.70mai.com.cn/?thread-66.htm

    • Ah. V1.0.6 is out apparently. Seems to be stable…. Will wait for my dashcam to arrive, and will probably update.

    • Parking mode still works without GPS.

  • How would this compare to the street guardian 9665v2(?) I have?(full HD and capacitor over battery).

  • Not sure why this is marked as expired. It's still available with either the $3 or $2 off coupon.

Just ordered. Happy to go sans-GPS module since most of it seems to replicate the Eyesight functionality of my Subaru Outback. Here's hoping I can find somewhere to install it without interfering with either my tollpass of the other 3 cameras which come as standard with the Outback. Thanks OP!

Second time DX have changed their expiry time. I'll just keep it as active now.

  • i have this for a while now about 8 months,i bought it with a gps module. In my opinion the dash cam itself it really good, the gps module is useless waste of money, the adas is kinda slow on only work on 80/km and above other then that the GPS module don't do anything else. So if anyone thinking get a gps module dont get it.

    • With the latest firmware the GPS module will track your location through the app but doesn't overlay it on the videos. Hopefully it will soon.

      • hope so, i turn off the adas for awhile now as seen useless to me, hope they got a good firmware update soon.

        • how does the parking mode work? doesn't the car need constant power to work? meaning if its in the cigarette lighter won't it cut power when car is off so parking mode won't work?

          • +1

@Blurem: The dashcam itself got backup battery in it. It activate when it notice Movement of the car. Otherwise the dashcam is off.

            • @Lamie: thanks mate, looking forward to getting it

  • +1

can i put this on my boat?

  • Been using it since it was on indiegogo. Loving it, the phone app is surprisingly well made.

  • Link using 12% cashrewards to get the GPS module for today.

  • Great deal thanks. Never seen it this cheap.

We had one, loved it, then it got stolen out of our car!!! Thankfully they left the gps part. :S
Ironic how you get one to avoid foul play, then it gets stolen lol. :(
This will make a good replacement, and it's good as it's easy to disconnect and bring inside with us. Thanks dude.

But Paypal charging a $5 conversion rate??!!!???!!! That is stupid. TOok it up to $72.50 for me :'( :'( Still buying thanks.

  • Anyone get this?
They just sent me a refund.

    • was gonna post the same…. just got refunded but i think i lost $$ due to ex rate hahaa

      confirmed
      $72.22au charged
      $68.85au refunded

had no reason why it was cancelled… and its still on dx website for $49usd +$3 voucher…

      • Very strange as in the orders page it says Fully Shipped.

    • I just got a refund a few minutes ago too

      • Me too!! What's going on??

        • Same for me.

  • Same here… very frustrated as this was for a gift :(.

  • Expired? Or out of stock? We are all getting refunds.

    • What did they say when you asked them?

    • I only ordered mine 4 days ago, but it's marked as shipped.

      Bizarre…

    • Got this explanation on my order.

"We regret to inform you that, since there is no airmail to send your order, we help you cancel this order and return the money to your payment account. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your support and understanding."

      No airmail ???

  • strange they still have it 'for sale' on the same link…

oh well guess im going to mark dxextreme as a bogus site…

  • Has anyone got theirs yet???

    • Nope, not even sent out. They're out of stock apparently…

  • Hi guys. After msging them a few times they finally sent mine out and actually provided me with a real tracking number. Only got sent out on the 6th of Dec even though I ordered mine over a week ago.
I ordered one for my mum too but they refunded hers. Weird.
Let's hope mine actually arrives haha

  • FWIW Mine arrived today (ordered a week or so before but from Aliexpress, not Dealextreme). Was running 1.05na, used the app to update to 1.07na (released 13/11). I think that 1.06 fixed some bugs in 1.05 plus allowed you to change the length of recordings from 1 to 3 minutes, and the extra bonus that 1.07 seems to provide is the ability to toggle the logo on/off. Sadly gps info (speed, etc - I got the optional gps module) is not saved onto the video itself…. hopefully that will become an option in the future.

  • Mine said shipped with some shipping number that wouldn't resolve, have asked them where it is after a long time with no updates and they say i need to pay $2.5 for remote delivery charges??? (I live in ACT metro)

    • And then they canceled and refunded me (obviously not this extra amount I payed), won't be using these guys again.
