To buy this or hold out for black friday…

    • +14

Hold out, either way storage will still continue to become cheaper.

    • +10

Wait till black friday next year.even better

      • Wait til it's about to be discontinued, maybe cheaper.

    • If you need it now buy it. BF won't be any better than these regular 15-20% deals.

  • Would this be on par with the performance of the stock 512GB NVMe SSD in a XPS 9570? I'm thinking of upgrading to 1TB

    • +1

Speeds seem quite low, I think it's a DRAMless ssd. Dell usually uses good NVME's like high grade HP or Samsung drives but it's a bit of a lottery I think.

      • +3

        I wouldn’t call 2100MB/s read 1600MB/s write slow

        • I'm afraid writing a single large file into a small unspecified amount of SLC cache tells you basically nothing about an SSD's actual performance.

      • According to Device manager, mine has PC601 Hynix SK, so pretty generic.

        • +3

That Hynix is 3400MB/s read 2500MB/s write. Faster on paper but you wouldn’t notice much difference real world

    • I would recommend the HP EX950 from Amazon for about $220 for 1TB.
Probably the best value/performance drive on sale at the moment. Gives the Samsung's a good run at a much better price.

A cheaper option is the Silicon Power drive for $179 which will run rings around this.
      (SU001TBP34A80M28UA) model.

  • Will this be supported on MSI Z170A Krait Gaming motherboard?

    • yes

  • Will there be better pricing for 5700XT during Black Friday Sales?

  • Damn you OZBArgain !@#$!#@ Just spent $79 that I did not plan on spending.

  • Does Ebay plus price match apply to this ?

  • +1

That's a good deal for 500G NVMe Solid State Drive! Thanks for sharing.

  • Lexar NVMe?
Their USB stick sucks with bad speed, I would spend more for something you can trust.
Also, the promotions you see a week or so before Black Friday or Boxing Day, for the last years they hardly ever change.
The main difference is stock, right now there is stock, during those period there is no guarantee of stock so you might end by waiting and adios.

    • Seems similar speed to the crucial P1 but with 500TB endurance vs 200TB on the P1

      https://www.cnet.com/products/lexar-nm610-solid-state-drive-…

      • Apparently it's TLC and not QLC like the P1 though, so it's likely much faster after the first few gig of writes, though I can only find real benchmarks on the older model.

Appears to be DRAM-less so it's still pretty slow under any real load.

P1 and Intel q660 is even slower than most SATA drives after the SLC cache is filled.

        • Re P1 in practical terms though that slc limit is over 100gb? Who's ever hardly going to hit that… I know I won't as a game drive

          • @4foxache: The drive has a fixed SLC buffer capacity of 5GB on the 500GB drive and 12GB on the 1TB model.
There is a secondary dynamic cache that can come into play when its empty, otherwise its going to take 4 x the free space capacity to expand it.
In other words, a 500GB TLC is likely better unless its only up against a 5400rpm HDD :P

        • Yeah but basically no 'regular user e.g. gamer' does writes of multiple gigs constantly.

It's only a benchmarking thing that highlights the slowness, otherwise the QLC drives are really good bang for buck.

    • Can confirm Lexar USB have a bacterial issue

  • Is this good deal ?

Here's the only review I've found for the NM610, in Russian though. https://3dnews.ru/995006

    • That was a handy link, thanks. Had not been able to find a good review elsewhere.

In summary it seems its good drive for the price at $129 for a basic gamer or everyday user.

  • Hi all, does this 5700xt qualify for the free| game deal? The ozbargain AMD deal page reads "includes but not limited to" with regards to sellers.

    Are eBay shopfronts included?

Also would prefer an alternative brand to GB

    • +1

Sapphire has rated really well in relation to the 5700 series

      • I would agree, general consensus was the sapphire pulse being the best bang for buck. I had my eye on one for $629, but hte ad disappeared:( in any case i closed my eyes, crossed my fingers and pulled the trigger on my first GB card. upgrading from a Asus 970, so a big upgrade for me!

  • Can I put 2 x SSD's in my PCIE slots?
