    The Quad DAC worth $250?

    • +18

this phone is worth 250 , and it has everything

      3200mAH removable battery
      dual sim 3g/4g
      microsd - 400gb no problem
      headphone jack
      quad dac
      .2" secondary notification display
      wide angle camera
      manual mode camera

        • It does, I used to have 1.

        • I still have one. Yes it does have a DAC.

          • +3

@scuderiarmani: The point of LGs DAC is it can power high impedance headphones most phones can not this puts it in line with some dedicated audio devices that cost as much and aren't a phone. For the people that want that this is absolutely amazing value.

So not the same as just having a headphone jack

            • @[Deactivated]: What does the hifi quad dac look like? hehe

            • @[Deactivated]: I think a lot of people never tried Hi-Res Audio.

            • -2

@[Deactivated]: I never said it's not better, but they all have something of that effect. This one obviously amplifies too, which is the real difference.

So calm down with the negs people.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: That sounds like a good headphone amp. Dac is there in every device with a jack.

      • +2

        .2" secondary notification display

I believe the correct term is 'Notch' now and you also need to bump up the display size and pretend it is larger than it is ;)

        • +1

No, it has a secondary display above the main one that runs the whole width of the screen.

It was missed by many when the v30 came out, as was the better camera [comparable to the G4] and [for some] the B&O earbuds to match the B&O tuning, however the v30's water resistance and even better DAC made up a little for that.

      • +1

this phone is worth 250 , and it has everything

        Everything except waterproofing.

      • Specs dont show everything unfortunately. Went from a note 3 to this, camera was absolutely useless, would take forever to load and take first image. Software had a few other issues as well but camera was the most annoying. Got 1 for me and 1 for wife, couldn't stand them and sold both. Maybe better now with much more recent software, this was a while ago

        • perhaps. I wonder if it still get security updates or whether it even got Android 9?

      • Don't forget the IR blaster

      • Manual camera is great, heaps of features other phones don’t have.
Manual Video mode you can adjust the direction of the microphone (say in selfie mode you can slide the direction more to you so noise in front is ignored/ slide the other way so it starts focusing on the sound in front of you… great feature)
As well as Gain, Filters and Limiters.

I’ve had my phone since JB first sold them years back and only recently been using manual, so much better than auto.

        Still a great phone.

    • I’d buy one just to use as a DAP, but nearest stock to me is 700km away.

      • Digital Audio Player?

  • +2

Great deal. I replaced a stolen v20 with a secondhand replacement for $200 not that long ago and I was happy with the deal. I just dropped a 512Gb MicroSD card in it from another Ozbargain deal.

What's the problem?. Time for a road trip!.

      • +9

Wish life was like the 7/11 APK and I could mock my location to anywhere I wanted to be instantly to get cheaper stuff.

    • I dont see North Sydney.

  • Loved the phone but hated how scratch sensitive the screen was

    • +4

I use tempered screen on mine. Solve the problem.

      • -5

hated how scratch sensitive the screen

Yeah easy solve the problem dummy

        • +1

Didnt neg you but cool story bro.

    • 2 pack of PThink Premium Tempered Glass I have used for my V20 and it's fantastic.

  • +5

may as well go to a V30 for a little more but I assume people love the removable battery?

    • +2

With the current deals, you'd probably go the G7 for $399. V30 is full price at JB.

      • Yeah I think you have a few choices to make. I have a V30+ and I dont think I want a G7 64Gb and yet a G7 6/128 is more than I want to spend…

        • I've also got the V30, would have taken the G7 if they were the same price at the time but they're both good phones.

          • -1

@whitelie: Why would you prefer the G7 at the same price point? SDM 845 in G7 vs 835 in V30+ but with OLED

            • @utsc: The G7 screen is much brighter and has better resolution, more ppi than the V30+ even though its OLED. It also has the notch (love it or hate it) so more screen real estate.
But the cameras are much better on the G7. The V30 selfie camera is a huge let down even for me and I hardly take selfies.

    • Agreed the second screen makes this phone and huge device for no extra gain.
Id personally go with an Xiaomi Mi 9 lite but that's also an extra $100 or so

    • +2

My wife just replaced the battery in her 2yo v20 last week with a genuine LG one for $40. It took longer for the phone to boot up than it did to pop the back cover off, "install" the battery, and put the cover back on. Man I miss user-replaceable batteries.

      • Haha both my mother and sister just did the exact same thing.

    • Have never replaced it though on a holiday it might be useful.

    • I’d miss the second screen more.

  • Serious question. This one is plagued with bootloops , right?

    • +8

No. Not on mine and I've never seen it mentioned on any forum.

    • No.

    • No

    • That was the G4

    • Yes, mine bootlooped 6 months in.

Sent it back to China for repair and it didn't bootloop after that.

      • Mine bootlooped just after the 12 month mark. Seller (Singapore?) wouldn't repair/ replace. Are they repairable?

Vowed no more LG after that…but this deal is giving me an itchy trigger finger.

        • What is the model?

          • @utsc: The notorious G4…

          • @utsc: Mine was the v20. Bootlooped after 6mths

    • No.
I am still using one, had it since they were first released.

  • +4

    Omg blast from the past

  • Dont bother with Erina, I grab it from em already. Road trip to Central Coast YAY!

    • Mine got transferred to Parramatta. DOUBLE YAY but road trip no more. :(

  • Stock in Bathurst for C&C

  • +9

I still use my V20. Changed battery twice. Still going strong. Last of the great phones with a removeable batter

    • +3

The only best & true V series too. I wont touch anything after V20. Using one currently and going strong. This will be my back up for the next 5-10 yrs.

      • The V10 was the most beautiful phone I've ever had for it's time, the build quality real like nothing else - that is the true V series to me. V20 was nice and I do really like my V30+ too.

  • +5

Only issue I have with it now is the ghosting (screen retention) problem on my screen. But its still useable.

This is a common issue with the LG V20's.

  • Perfect for trapping.

  • Good

  • Closest to Melbourne is Bathurst lol.

  • It was a great phone. But instantly slowed down after an Android version upgrade. I could have tried a factory reset but usually don't need much of an excuse to upgrade! A good phone!

  • Great price, no NFC tho right?

    • It has NFC. My old phone was a LGV20 before finally upgrading if peeps have any questions.

    • +7

It has NFC, removable battery, FM radio, Band 28, B&O tuned Quad DAC, Quick charge 3 via USB C 1.0, rear fingerpring scanner and I.R blaster.

Mine is still lasting 3 days after 2-1/2 years…

      • Mine is still lasting 3 days

        3 day bettery?

        • +1

3 days is much bettery than 1

        • Better if you have spare bettery. It will run like smooth better. Or you can deep fry it tempura better.

          • @Yummy: Must be from south island

          • @Yummy: It last the day with decent use. Not as long as my Nokia 1520 but different res screen etc.

      • What's the ram.. I find my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X with 4gb ram getting hit at the ram limit from time to time now will probably be good for another year or two but I can definitely see the ram being a limiting factor for my use case scenario.

I flood my phone with apps sometimes then do a purge but there is a lot of apps sometimes.

    • It has NFC.

If people keep mentioning the bootloop, then Samsung's explosive IEDs should be in the same conversation.

People are hilarious at beating dead horses, especially certain weird ones.

    • +9

Because the LG G4 was the most bought phone on ozbargain which was plague by bootloop

They did not recall and no official response from LG itself.

Many people got burnt by grey imports.

      Enough said

It takes one phone to damage reputation which takes years to build

Ever since then I don't trust LG

Samsung different story they admited their faults refunded customers and acknowledged the issue publicly. They then delivered, promised results not to happen again. Much more positive way of handling it

      • It's one of MANY big LG problems. LG look great on specs but pretty much suck at reliability.

        • LG v30+ user for two years no issues. Many more like me as evidenced on these forums

          • +1

@Jackson: I'm not talking about phones. I'm talking about everything they do.

Recently I've had good experiences, owning an oled and v30+. But I've had massive horror stories in the past for many phones and home theatre gear.

Buying LG you need to do research else it's like playing lotto.

            • @justtoreply: Phones usually the only LG product I recommend. I might be coming around with TV, but yes a lot of their stuff was garbage back in the day. Microwave probably OK if you want a cheapy

              • @Jackson: Lol. Funny you say that, until the last year the microwave was the only LG device we had that wasnt faulty.

Previously a tv, DVD player and three phones had design faults.

  • My V10 is still going strong after almost 4 years. Changed the battery once. It's 2:45 PM and still rocking at 66 percent. Love it.

  • This or the samsung a20?

    • You might need to take a long trip to collect it

      • heh, yeh you're right. Closest store to me is Bathurst…..I'm in Sydney

  • +1

    How do the xdadevelopers kno???

  • none in sydney. ah well..

  • +1

Very good phone. Im still using it right now. Has been 2 years own it. Start show ghosting on screen.

    • Mine is 2 years too… Bought for 400 dollars. Just ordered a spare battery from aliexpress with recent 15% cashback deal. I never updated the software to oreo ..so still going smooth.. Sometimes i get ghosting too.. But not that bad.. Plus the guys over at reddit know of an app that solves this issue.love the phone.. Love the ir blaster.. love the removable battery .

      • yes IR blaster the reason i dont upgrade to V30 yet. sometimes useful, you won't know when u need it

        • Prankin' patrons in the restaurant.

  • The reception signal of this phone is very flaky. Don't know if it was because my one was a grey import and isn't fully supported in australia. Very fustrating sometimes.

  • These are way cheaper on AliExpress for the refurbished Korean units. Like $150ish, not $300.
