better be safe than sorry.. i'd rather grab the Jb one physically in store. in fact just ordered the neon one and picking up tomorrow

        • same..but at the same time i am thinking if i am making the right choice? what is the prices got lower? and EB games havent release their deal

          • @kwf: Any idea what time EB and Amazon will release their deals?

  • Thanks for the update OP.

It says the game code must be used before 24 Dec 2019… Does that mean if I want to give this switch to my kids for Xmas I will have to open it up and install prior o 24 Dec?

    • yep most likely

    • Where does it say that? All it says is the offer is valid until 24/12, or until stocks last. As in, the Switch + Mario Kart promotion will run until that time.

      • looks like the switch promotion will end tomorrow midnight or until stock runs out.. just got a newsletter email from them

        • Nah, the $389 price is for Black Friday only, after tomorrow it’ll go back up. The Switch + Mario Kart promotion is available until 24/12.

Bundle is currently cheaper from The Gamesmen eBay - $374.81 Delivered

Unless you have JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards.

    • That was me haha paid $339 for pick up at JB Hi-Fi tomorrow.
      Happy Shopping Ozbargainers!

  • +1

    Thanks bought one online.

Pity EB won’t do it until 9pm tonight. The lady in my local store even refused to do price match.

    • I don' t think EB Games matches console prices anymore.

      • do u guys reckon if i just order now from jb? or is there better deals tomorrow

        • +1

Most retailer has revealed the prices of their Switch for Black Friday. Only wild card would be Amazon AU, which has only price-matched JB Hi-Fi (without Mario Kart 8).

          • @RichardL: The Gamesman listing says "Nintendo Switch (Original)" does that mean it is the old model?

      • ah, good to know. Thanks.

        How about games?

        • +1

Depends on the retailer you're trying to match and the employee.

  • if someone has picked up their bundles from JB HiFi , please confirm if the actual console is the new model?

also apart from the model number on the back of the console, is there any other way to check ?

    thanks

    • It should be the 2019 model from JB Hi-Fi, since it just the standard console + a download code on the receipt/email.

      • another person said he just picked up and his model number appears to be old model so I was just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue..

        • Did he get an old box or the red box. All red box are 2019 Model.

    • It’s the new one. I just picked up mine. Going back tomorrow to get the Mario Kart code. I also bought Spyro Reignited Trilogy for $39.

      • So i got mine today but no code. Do you have to go back in the morning for it?

        • Yes. The codes apparently will only generate on 29th.

  • Thanks bought one online, will collect in store tomorrow. Not sure why the continued conjecture about model as the listing itself says 'New Look Packaging'?

Been hanging onto Telstra gift cards for a year just for this :)

  • Deal has started. Just bought a Neon with my company's reward program so 5% cheaper…will pick up at store tomorrow :)

    • +2

      Started 3 hours ago.

  • Bought 2 switches from JB within the last week. What do you think the chances are of getting mario kart off em?

    • Worth a try, nothing to lose.

  • Just did the click and collect for this deal - saves having to line up. $389 is a good deal.

Now I just need to download Mario kart and give it a solid test before the kids get it for Christmas 😊

    • Did you get the code on the spot?

      • I picked mine up via click and collect tonight. They didn't give me the code, but I didn't ask as the listing says "Online purchasers will receive the download code via email 48 hours from order completion." I bought a ps4 from them last year that had 3 months of free Stan, and that was sent later in a separate email without any issues.

        • Thanks for letting me know I can relax then!

  • -1

This can be ordered online now for either delivery or pick up in store tomorrow!

  • Ordered from click and collect last night, still haven't got the nod to pick it up yet, is it worth going in the morning to ensure I pick up the code, or just wait till I receive message to pick it up?

  • +1

Will JB Hifi match the Amazon $349 price in store?

    • I asked when I went picked up mine at lunchtime - at that time it was $359.10 - and the staff told me they can't match with Amazon on Friday :(

  • +1

For anyone wondering I bought from JBHiFi last night for $389 saw the Amazon Au deal when I woke up ($349), went into JB and they were happy to refund me the $40 difference. Couldn't get the MK8 code last night as the offer didn't go live yet. Added bonus was with the refund the MK8 code printed :)

JB confirmed the Amazon offer to be the new switch

    • Did it take much pushing to get the refund or did you just mention that Amazon are doing it for $349 and you would like a price match if possible.

      • +2

I was able to get the refund as well. Didn’t take any pushing, just let them know at pickup that I wanted to do a price match, and they took care of it at the counters after I’d collected my stuff. The longest I waited was for the guy to confirm it was Amazon AU selling, and for a manager to come to the desk to do a drive-by sign-off.

    • Did you buy it in store last night?

  • The store rep told me I need to email them to price match an online order. Did anyone else encounter this when asking to price match?

    • +1

Just try a different store. Most just accepts an image, but it also depends on where you're matching with.

  • Went to collect my Switch from my store and was told they wouldn’t price match as the one advertised on Amazon was the gen 1 version.

  • Anyone been able to get a price match on the 339 EB eBay price at JB?

    • +1

I doubt it, since it required a coupon code.

But at the end of the day, it up to the discretion of the staff/store manager.

      • So best case Amazon 359 (unless you already got in with the earlier 349 price)? Seems to be hit and miss on this price match going by comments

        • +1

Yep, it up to the discretion of the staff/store manager.

Could always try a different store/time.

  • I went to collect my switch from jb sunshine, tried to price match and get my partial refund back. They wouldn’t let since it’s eb games online with using the code from ozbargain, so I refunded and got the $339.15 eb games deal instead with code PILGRIM :)

  • Hi,
Just wondering if anyone lucky enough to get JB to price match the Amazon price would be able to upload a receipt as I'm getting nowhere!

  • +1

Has anyone received the MK8 download code? Is it to be sent via email?

    • +1

Online purchasers will receive the download code via email 48 hours from order completion. In-store purchasers will receive a separate receipt with code at time of purchase.

  • +1

This 'download code via email in 48 hours' is just silly. How do they expect people to have a new switch and no game to play for up to 48 hours?!

    • +1

How do they expect people to have a new switch and no game to play for up to 48 hours?!

You can play around in the settings while you're waiting.

  • +1

    Anyone got a code yet?

    • +1

Nope. Bought on thursday night so technically it hasn’t been 48 hours. Getting impatient though, haha

      • +1

Yeah same, I was a thursday night as well.

Hopefully it comes through soon and it's not something we have to chase.

        • I'm in the same boat… Came here to check and see if anyone else got it yet…

Tbh I get the feeling we ain't getting it in the 48hrs .

I gave the email in the order but if its sent direct from Nintendo I don't know how it will work?

          Guess we will see..

  • +3

Well that's 48 hours lapsed, and still no code for me.

    • The website says 48hrs from order completion so maybe that means from when we picked up the C+C order? In that case it could be tomorrow morning. And when I picked up my Switch yesterday I was told there might be a delay and worst case I would have to wait until Monday. It's pretty bad but hopefully we should all get our codes soon.

      • +2

I picked up my order Thursday night. The EB games ebay offer said 2-3 business days so maybe JB screwed up and wrote 48 hours rather than 2 business days. I'll email them tomorrow if I haven't received it by then.

        • +1

Still no code yet? Not sure why it takes so long. Surely it would be automatic. I could understand if there was a human at the other end going through a backlog of orders. I bought online Thursday night and picked up Friday afternoon.
Luckily I picked up Mario Odyssey too but want to play Mario kart before the weekend is up.

  • +1

No code either, tbh not surprised

  • Yeah this sucks I need Mario kart to distra t me whilst I wait for smash Bros to arrive… Only so many sea bass I can cat h on fishing universe simulator… Best 37 cents I ever spent though

  • Has anyone rung jb hifi yet?

    • I just emailed support. Calling up might be more effective but I'm bad on the phone and didn't want to be thrown off my game and make ill-advised concessions to superior linguists.

      • I went back to the store and they call jb hifi support. After that they print out the code for me.

        • Yeah I think that might be my next port of call. Did you need to bring the Switch back in or will ID and the order number suffice?

          • +1

@fovean: Not really. I just have my receipt (the one sent to my email)

    • +1

I just rang the store where I did the Click & Collect. Was told that the 48 Hours is business hours and does not include Sat & Sun. He told me to wait till Monday/Tuesday and if the email still hasn't come through, come in and he will sort it out.

  • I just got a reply email from support stating 1-2 business days. They're going to keep fielding this query if they don't change the website. 48 hours and 2 business days are not interchangeable.

    • I got replied yesterday saying they will be sending out the code yesterday, obviously they were lying…

      Thanks for your email

The codes are being emailed out to customers today.

      Thanks for your patience.

  • I bought mine click and collect Thursday night. Haven’t been emailed the code. Rang the store, they wanted to email head office and get back to me. But after some more question they generated a code for me.

    • I rang the store I also bought Thursday they told me wait until Wednesday..

  • Guys if you no received the code after 48h
You will need to go to any JB explain the situaton they will generatr new code for you…. you will need the receipt number.
Go directly to counter on click and collect area.
    Cheers

  • I rang the store I collected from (Canberra) and they are going to follow up. The guy basically said he has taken a stack of the same calls…

  • I called up two stores and apparently they are unable to generate the code. Ended up getting a refund, and re-purchasing on the spot to get the code in the receipt.

  • I just got a code sent by email.

  • I sent JB support an email saying I hadn't received the code and they sent me one.
