      Liberal use of "invention" there…

      A comment nobody asked for?

  • thanks op purchased :D

  • Thanks OP got one too

  • +1

Officeworks already price matched @ $68

  • +2

    I have one.

Like it except its odd needing to 'talk' to it to do everything. My wife thinks im nuts !

    • +16

It's nice to have at least one thing that will do what you tell it!

    • There's no way to do everything with an App?

    • It's the one thing about talking to it that bugs me. Wife is always like "sorry, what was that?"

  • These will be everywhere as gifts this Christmas.
I just wish I had a need for one, but very tempting.

    • You mean everywhere as being on the streets for kerbside collection

  • +3

google will recored all your bed-time noise and send to their data center for analysis how offen you have sex and with who.

    • +12

      whom?

      • who is his girlfriend/boyfriend

    • +18

Are you worried you won't have anything to tell them?

    • +5

Well that should take whoever is monitoring me about 30 seconds…

    • +2

If you are quick enough, they wouldn't notice it…

    • +3

I am like batman, you won't hear me coming.

    • Do we get to see the neighbourhood high scores?

  • This one or new google mini second gen?

    • This is an alarm clock radio, the other is a speaker. Do you need a screen?

      • Which one sounds better?

        • +1

          The Speaker?!

        • The mini by far. The Levono is for bedrooms and has a low-quality speaker.

          • @Yorkshire-Man: Ok thanks. I will pass. Was looking for a reason to control my temptation hehe

    • -1

      Neither

  • +1

Have one myself next to the bed. It'll tell me the weather when the alarm goes off in the morning, and I can tell it to set an alarm for the following day when I get home. It's an alarm clock, I don't need a photo frame or a music/video streamer. Recommended if you are after something simple but efficient.

Also the brightness can be automatically turned to very low where it won't bother you at night.

    • How low is 'low' in terms of brightness?

      • +2

It dims to very low in the dark. Fine for a bedroom.

      • +1

I bought one to replace an old school radio/dock/clock and the Lenovo is much lower in brightness than the lowest setting of the old school device. Also, it goes brighter when there is more ambient light around.

      • Low to the point where you can't see any screen glow, plus there is a setting where it can automatically switch to the monochrome clock face during night mode.

    • Why is this better than my phone?

      • +1

For starters I don't need to touch the clock at all to look at the time, in fact I have not touched the clock at all since I set it up.

Also a phone screen on the lowest brightness is still too bright when you're using it in the dark, believe when I say this clock brightness can get REALLY low.

It all comes down to convenience really. I don't really want to be fumbling for the phone when I wake up, nor do I want to physically set up the phone everytime I go to bed.

  • +3

I'm thinking this would be a good idea as a smart alarm. Really need to get rid of the phone at bed time since OzBargain is addictive at 12am.

    • +3

Ozbargain is addictive at all times of the day.

      • +7

In my office I have a monitor dedicated to OzBargain 24/7. My colleagues are always complaining about it.

        • +1

Do the same on my office and now the monitor is the most popular always attract crowds

  • Prices are all over the place. JBs email blast this morning stated $78 and HNs catalogue states $68. Probably drop further Friday you think?

  • Wait and see if we have better deals on Friday?

  • I got one of these at this price recently.

It's a good device for the money - perfect for the bedside

  • This is just a low powered tablet in a bigger box without the ability to move it around? What is the point over a cheapo tablet and a stand plugged in? Does it run other software?

    • +1

I'd say the microphones in them. Think the tablet would have trouble clearly picking up your voice commands from the other side of the room.

Depends what your looking for I guess, but if it's not an alarm clock with Google assistant built in then this probably isn't the device you need.

You are psychotic if you set the design to that of the thumbnail! ARGH

  • +1

HN were first with this @ $68, OfficeWorks soon followed, now JB.

    • Waiting for Amazon so I can get cashback and free delivery..

      • Won't happen, you'll find plenty of deals on Alexa devices with Amazon however. You're better off with the Bing Lee EBay deal if you need delivery.

Purchased one in TGG for $78 last month
Pretty good as a smart alarm
Confirm that it can stream my reolink cam
But cannot show as digital photo frame from google photo

    • +1

Are you sure? The description says

      'Ambient photo with time
When you’re not using your Lenovo Smart Clock, the screen can now turn into a digital photo album, displaying pictures from your Google Photos account or featured photos provided by Google.'

      Hoping someone can confirm?

      • yeah it certainly displays photos. i have it linked to a google album that auto-adds new photos, it works great.

i wouldn't know how to make it stream from a cam though

        • How? In google home app when I click on the Smart clock setting page there’s no Photo frame option at all

This option appears in my google home hub 7” but not in th Lenovo smart clock

          • @[Deactivated]: i think you just select it from the smart clock not from google home. you can choose the clock face / screen saver etc and one option is photo albums

For those who want this device posted, it's $69 through Bing Lee eBay with free postage if you have eBay plus. Use the eBay app and promo code PAPP100.

  • Just checking may be a silly question. I'm an apple fan boy and embedded deeply in the ecosystem, can I use this with my iPhone? or do I need an android device?

    • yeah, i'm using iphone to set it up now. already got homepod, ipad etc bla bla. But the price for this is irresistible lol anwhow, homepod doesnt have screen, it would be good to see the time lol

      • It's amazing how technology has advanced so much that we forgot the basic things in life… the time.

Just glad to know that might finally be able to make full use of these things for those of us with GSuite accounts..
Got a beta notice the other day.

Hope it's going to include bringing back the features that used to work, like settings reminders and inviting other accounts to the home.

    • Glad I’m not the only one!

      Thanks for the heads-up

  • grab one at 68 . Pretty decent

  • Interesting that this is only $34USD in the states as part of their BlackFriday sale.

    Sorry am I missing something?

I get it has a screen to use like a clock but the alarm function is available in the Google mini and you can use it as a small speaker. I think Google mini is more useful

    • I'd like a screen to see my alarms.

  • Btw, did everyone miss this one when it was cheaper a few weeks back?

  • Does anyone know if you can turn off Philips Hue lights via buttons on this? Don't want to use voice when it's late.

    • No. U need to buy the hue light button

Just so everyone is aware, there was something called the Lenovo Smart Clock Starter Pack. It was a promotional pack that had the Smart Clock plus Lenovo Smart Colour Bulb and Smart Plug. I actually found one of these at my JB. While it's listed as full-price, someone had put a ticket for $68 along with all the regular ones. Still scanned up as regular but they adjusted it for me.

Thought it's worth pointing out as you're effectively getting another $50 or so of stuff for free. Worth checking if you plan on getting at least.
