        And now got rejected anyway..😖

    • Try clicking the link again. Happened to me first time it just opened up a general page. I clicked it again, it came up with my reference number

      • just goes to a application submitted page… no links to add documents or nothing… wtf…

        • I am also having this issue. It looks like they haven't tested their application page. Can someone from Kogan Money please address this?

        • Try on a computer or something different

          • -1

@Danstar: Why give advice on a page that you have never visited? The page and their signup process is broken.

            • @watwatwat: Ummm if you have read any of my comments you will see I have visited the page from the exact email nurseboucher would've received!

And it worked fine for me after a few clicks!

    • Got this too. Gonna bail.

    • Bloody painful doc requirements after attaching all doc…

      • Got another email that they need more docs. I m done with this now…Already submitted salary slips, bank account, medicare, rate notice….

        • FYI I spoke with their support and they said the system sends requests for info even if you submit all documents, so you can ignore them. So dumb.

          • @watwatwat: Thanks. I have given up on this…My home loan bank did not ask for all the docs that kogan is asking for…

          • @watwatwat: So nothing changed with Citibank.
I applied for a fee-free-for-live signature card in 2013. I applied from overseas, online, without submitting a shred of documentation. Got approved, then received requests for documentation (which I ignored).

Then, 6 years on, they needed the secondary card holder to submit certified copies of ID in a letter before they'd activate her replacement card after the old one expired. So we tried a few more call centre REPs until we got one that just activated it :)

    • Have you gotten any further? I have the same problem.

  • Will I still be eligible for the $500 voucher if I have a Citi Signature VISA Card?

    • yes, why not?

  • I got this with a recent CBA card as well. Ended up emailing payslips through.

  • They want my employers phone number… I want to sign up but don't wish to put that in.

    • put your own one in :p

      • They dont contact your employer right?

        • Never that I’m aware of.

        • St George did for me apparently. Just put your own number in.

          • @tunzafun001: Amex actually called my missus’ work when she applied for that one of those cards. I think they only call if they aren’t 100% confident with the documents you’ve uploaded

            • +1

@Danstar: They want proof of income and proof of employment. What can I upload for this?
This is the hardest credit card I have ever applied for.

  • I was also declined, not too sure why.

  • -1

Can $500 kogan.com credit be used to buy anything on kogan's website, e.g. airpods etc?

Or is it only usable for Kogan home-brand items?

    • +2

It can be used on anything on kogan.com including mobile plans.

  • Upvotes show that there aren’t many takers of free $500? Or have people been too busy with Black Friday deals?

    • Plenty of people getting knocked back by the looks of it. Myself included.
We bank 50% of our income, easily serviceable mortgage, permanent full time employment with same employer for over 10 years, no dramas ever with late payments, bankruptcy or anything that would set off red flags.
The only thing I can think of is we have a citi issued coles credit card?

      • I have that coles card and recently got the qantas premier card.

  • I got an sms and email confirming approval earlier today, then received another email just now asking for Employment and Income Proof lol!

    • -1

When the unreliability of kogan-manufactured garbage meets financial services. Going to be amazing!

      • +3

        Lol yeah ;)

My plan is to spend the $500, get the $500 credit, buy 2019 Nvidia Shield with credit, then bail - grab the popcorn!

  • Applied. Got some chrissy presents and regular shopping to do in the coming weeks. Should blast by the $500 spend without any dramas. I'm not so sure that's a good thing. Haha.

I also have a top up for the old man's phone credit in the new year so the credit will come in handy.

We have a great credit score and very manageable income so can only assume we won't get knocked back. 🤷‍♂️ No harm in trying.

    Cheers OP.

  • Just got denied, my first
    pikachuface.jpg

  • +1

Got denied as well, even though my credit score is 760. Glad I missed the boat, they sound very dodgy.

  • Denied… hmmm hurt me .never got rejected :(

  • Denied, look like they issue limited quantity and now it is reached.

    • I just got approved yesterday though

  • When have people applied to when they found out if they were approved or denied?

  • So to the people getting rejections.. did you get a message when you sign up saying you were provisionally approved?

  • +1

applied today and got approved within an hour. Filled the application for less than 10 min. Seems a very smooth process for me.

    • Any other cards / loans / debts?

  • -1

Denied. For reference I've got a 28 degrees plus fee free and rewards Coles Master cards. Most likely the citi bank restriction

    • I've got a Citi card and got approved for this.

  • +1

I got requested to provide 'income proof' and 'employment proof' despite providing pay slips earlier. Anyone know what else they could want? Employment contract is confidential so I won't be taking a risk providing that…

    • Happening to me also, I’ve submitted a couple of times

      • +1

lol jokers at kogan… I'm starting to think I would be better off without this deal. Who would have thought that?

        • I have a credit rating of 840/1000 too…

        • I'll be thinking the same if I get rejected and it goes negatively against my record. I'm in the 800s also.

          • @db87: I just checked my credit history and citigroup is on my credit as a credit 'check' :S

            • @carbunkle: I'm not overly fussed. Not planning to buy anymore property any time soon and we always pay our debts before the interest period.

I'll just be a bit shitty given that they have a very basic outline of who qualifies to apply. It should be more strict from the get go if they're just going to blanket reject a tonne of people.

Other than a couple of mortgages. We only have 1 CC that's been attached to my account since I qualified and the 2nd is attached to our home loan accounts.

I daresay any rejections these days would have to be with banks tightening up on their lending.

    • +1

In the same boat - provided exhaustive documentation and a day later got an email asking for "employment proof" and "income proof"

  • +3

    I had received:

Important Information from Kogan Money Credit Cards: Reminder that we need more information

So I did nothing and then later on got:

Important Information from Kogan Money Credit Cards: Your Kogan Money Black Card application is approved!

    Happy days. Touch wood.

    • Same here.
Kept getting reminded for 4 days to give information but I never got round to it. Now I'm approved :)

    • Same, got approved without providing the required info.
I asked on chat and they said I need to provide it.
Not sure if you really do.

    • Same here :)

  • +5

Finally approved 2nd Dec, after initial application on Friday 29/11
Had multiple emails requesting same info documents again and again, linking to the card application for employment proof etc
Called Kogan yesterday and they said sorry, the system may automatically send our new requests, but they checked and they had it all and this facilitated the approval of documents and finally approval

Edit -I have had a citi signature around August, now cancelled.
3 credit cards currently, with Kogan the next addition

    • What number did you call them on?

      • +3

        Try 1300 415 445.
That number is listed for "Complaints" according to their website.

However, when you call that number, there's actually an option for tracking current application.

      • yeah went through complaints and they transferred

  • +1

Got my card approved. Took about a day.

  • I got my credit card approved yesterday!

  • +2

    Got approved yesterday.

Oddly they first contacted me to say I needed to provide employment info (despite providing latest payslip), when I logged into the link they email you (sms-code protected) there was no where to upload the docs. I contacted them via their webform and the next day my application was approved.

Edit: that is, after contacting them via the webform, I heard nothing back and then magically I got the application approved messages.

  • Got my card today. Tried to use payWave and it didn’t work. Tried at 3 places….

    • Dumb question - did you activate the card?

      • Yes. It worked by inserting it. Spoke to love chat, said it might be faulty magnetic strip. Sending me a new card (same numbers so don’t need to wait, although few minutes after chat got sms saying card been deactivated) lol

Must be a automatic thing as a result of a new card being sent. Will talk to chat tomorrow to confirm it was done automatically

        • A faulty magnetic strip that prevents payWave from working? I seriously doubt Paywave uses the magnetic strip.

          • @Make it so: I dunno. Something is making it not work. Hopefully new card does

Maybe she meant NFC chip or what ever tech pYwave uses

        • +2

A few credit cards need to be inserted for their first use. Paywave etc works after that.

          • @tunzafun001: Oh really? Never heard of that, and nor did the rep. On chat lol

        • +2

          Spoke to love chat

Hope the premium phone charges weren't too pricey for you :)

Btw I've had a similar experience with other cards as tunzafun001 too.

          • +1

            @forrester:

Hope the premium phone charges weren't too pricey for you :)

Hahaha. She was free and her name was Debbie too…….. LOL

I've never had a Visa before, it's always been a MasterCard. They've already sent me a new card so I guess I'll just have to keep inserting it…….and hope that the PayWave just decides to work

  • Got approved (after 2 days) despite holding a Citibank Signature card (and another card).

  • Personal question but I wonder what peoples liabilities are. We have a bit but service our loans very easily and credit cards are always zeroed well in advance. I got a phone call today to confirm a couple of random details and about 30 minutes later, a rejection email. :s

  • How long does approval usually take?

  • Just some feedback, application process was painless. Online + one 5min phone call. Approved in 3 days start to finish.

    • Was the 5min phone call that they called you?

Applied on 29/11. Haven't heard anything from them yet.

Online chat 2 times, kept saying it will take 7-10 business days.

      • Yeah, just confirmed basics like previous address, other liabilities, property status.

I think my answers matched that their checks had already told them because they didn't ask any details and though they said something like 3-5 business days, approval was basically immediate.

  • How much does simply applying for a new card affect the credit score? I assume it should negatively impact only if the balance is overdue?

    • -1

Applying and getting approved doesn’t affect. Applying and being rejected can affect. Not paying balance by due date affects

      • Wow, giving other people advice must mean you think you know what you're talking about. So where did you hear this information? Citation needed.

        • I’ll give
You a citation when you reply
          To this one ;)

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8064820/redir

Always love a good ozB stalker

Can you not handle someone who gives an opinion / says their experiences about something you don’t know about ?

And your reply doesn’t even make sense… literally
Just trying to stir up. Maybe Try harder next time

          • @Danstar:

You a citation when you reply

Sure, I'll reply. It probably wasn't the same page you were seeing. Perhaps your application was in a different status. The page we were on did not allow any progression.

Just trying to stir up. Maybe Try harder next time

I'll try again. You claimed that applying for credit does not hurt your credit score if you are successful. Please provide documentation supporting this claim.

            • @watwatwat: It would be the same
Emil everyone gets when you apply. I had the same experience where it didn’t work the first few clicks, but for some reason it eventually did. It was my
Experience with the application and I was just trying to help others….dunno why you would be upset with that

My Citation is a senior bank manager at one of the big 4 banks
So taking my opinion/advice is up to you to believe. I don’t come on here to lie

              • -1

                @Danstar:

                It would be the same

Awesome. You must work there as a programmer.

"Does applying for a credit card hurt my credit score?
One application for a credit card is not likely to hurt your score, but making multiple applications in a short period of time could. That’s because numerous applications can be perceived as desperation for credit, or lenders could feel that you’re taking on too many accounts, potentially making it difficult for you to afford monthly payments.

When you apply for a credit card or loan, an enquiry is recorded on your credit report. Your credit report shows a five-year enquiry history, which is factored into your credit score."

                • @watwatwat: So applying and getting approved means your credit history is (most likely) ok. Applying and not getting approved would not reflect as ok and look bad on your credit score….. As i stated….

                  • @Danstar: Actually, you stated "Applying and getting approved doesn’t affect". In fact, it can affect.

                    • +1

@watwatwat: It really doesn’t affect though. Cos yo Igor approved. Meaning the credit checks and info provided shows you aren’t a risk. That’s why you got approved …
                      What’s not to get ?

  • The last citi card I got approved for was a coles card in 2017. So I was super surprised to find out I got approved for this one. Submitted the application on Sunday with conditional approval, sent in docs on Wednesday and got approved fully today. Pretty seamless experience.

  • -1

Does anybody know if you were to link this with a PayPal account and do a direct transfer to a brokerage firm such as IG, CMC, Interactive Brokers etc etc would consider it as a purchase and qualify for the bonus ?

  • +1

Just tried applying and got a message saying: Based on the information provided, they were unable to approve my application. I assume this is a decline?
