Decked my place out with this only a few weeks ago. Seriously good.

  • +1

Great price for an amazing product. This has improved the performance of my IP cameras

  • Can the router be used as a standalone?

    • Yep.

      • Awesome, thanks

    • Great wifi, terrible router features.

      • I ordered it. What does it do badly or what's it missing for you?

        • +1

QOS, I ended up just keeping my RBK50 for the wifi. Netgear have decided to hide some features despite the CPU barely getting tested.

  • +1

    Seriously awesome price

    • Bought. Unreal deal. Time to retire the fantastic ac66u

  • +1

NVm, lets see if Amazon matches

    • Yep the RBK50 pack is a router and a satellite.

  • How does this compare to setting up ubiquiti ?

    • Which Ubiquiti product are you comparing with?

      • in wall pro

        • In-Wall Pro AP needs to be cabled with Ethernet and powered by PoE.

Netgear Orbi uses wireless or Ethernet backhaul and a power brick.

  • +1

Awesome find OP…. was looking for this a long time

  • +1

This or the new Google Nest Wifi ($460 from TGG ebay)?

    • You can't go passed the Netgear Orbi at this price.

Get the Nest wifi if you want the integrated speaker.

  • I have an Asus AC86u and I still got this deal. RBK50 at this price is just too good.

  • I already have a TP-Link router C3150v2 but wanting to extend wifi. Could i plug this into the TP-Link router to setup another wireless network or whats the better approach? Ideally i want to keep the existing router as is but want wifi that reaches further.

    • +1

Yep you can set the Netgear Orbi in access point mode.

The better approach would be to replace the TP-Link C3150v2 entirely with the Netgear Orbi.

      • Thanks mate. As much as i want this i'll pass…. its just 1 spot that gives me grief but it's not a big deal. Everywhere else its good.

        • +1

Try moving the TP-Link high up on some furniture?

          Sometimes this can help.

  • +1

Awesome price. I paid $400 a few months ago and I thought I'd done well!

  • +1

    Hey all,

Opinions if this deal worth the extra $19 over the ASUS RT-AC68U AiMesh 2 Pack https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/501166?

Basically looking for wifi covering the best portion of 500sqm, just had the ASUS in my checkout.

    • Nevermind buying this!

    • From the reviews I’ve read, the Orbi is the Rolls Royce of mesh routers.

  • Awesome price for the AC3000. Had it for a couple of months and have been great !

  • I have this and it is the bomb. Best Wifi ever. I can fully utilise my 100mps internet from bedroom. Previously I was only able to get 25mbps from the crappy default Optus wifi Modem.

  • Thanks OP. Bought one.

  • So if I have a iiNet modem do I just replace it with this?

    • FTTN/FTTB - no you need both.

FTTC/FTTP/HFC/FW - yep you can replace the ISP modem.

      • really? im on FTTC, how does that work…

        • Connect the Orbi direct to the NBN box.

      • How can I check which of those I am? Just go on nbnco and enter address?

        • Yep nbn website.

          • @Twix: FTTP here. Was going to connect to my standard ISP provided modem, guess I'll try to connect straight to the NBN box then thanks

  • +2

Oh god! I'm returning the $340 RBK23 I bought the other day! Thanks OP!

  • Darn looks like RBK50 is out of stock now

  • Razer Blade Pro 17 $3899

    lol

  • It's been OzBargain-ed!!! Site barely working and the item out of stock! Well done guys… :)

  • +2

Rbk50 looks to be sold out :(

    • Yeah - that's a shame. Had a darn meeting and it cost me! Heh. Would have picked this up.

      • I was piss farting around trying to get cashrewards to work and missed it by 2 minutes. Devastated, my current WiFi is so bad

        • On a brighter side, I just noted how tall these babies are - pretty big unit. Considering the Google Wifi deal that's also posted - but not sure…

      • Its back :)

    • Its back now.. hurry

      • +1

purchased one, thanks so much :D will finally have more than 1 bar of wifi in my room

  • Site crashed - after the checkout process kept timing me out, and came back up to find the one in my cart was out of stock. Mega disappointed that the site doesnt reserve stock in carts.

  • The wifi range on this gear is awesome. We live on a large bush block and I can now get acceptable wifi speed at 40m from the house. With my previous Nighthawk, 3-5m was the maximum distance.

  • Site is back up and show RBK50 in stock!

    • No it’s not, check cart

      • Yeah. Congratz to all who got it in time!

  • it says in stock until you try and add it to your cart.

  • can't add to the cart

  • Arlo vs Eufy vs???

    • +1

Arlo is all over the place at the moment since the ios13’updates… georeferencing not working too well at the moment

      • Eufy appears to be better…but you need to pay for Cloud recording per camera…so $30USD per year per camera….i.e. $120USD to 'run' for 4 cameras…whereas Arlo is free for 7 days…this would be a big factor for me..

        • i thought EUFY was free local storage?

          • +1

@tagin: Yes, you can use microSD card for local storage and the cloud recording is optional.

            • @waverock: yep, there is local storage…but my concern is if someone steals my local storage! I guess it just depends if you see this as a risk or not and then weighing and time and costs…definitely a great battery life on the Eufy…so perhaps the time saved on recharging Arlo's would make up for the cost of cloud storage if you chose to use this feature…

  • NETGEAR Orbi is gone?? Can't find it fml.

    • FML too

      • +1

Literally had it in my cart but was being a stingy ass and tried to do cashback then missed it…

        • +1

I really wanted it too but took too long to decide, ended up saving $299!

    • Get it now..

Good news for those who missed Netgear Orbi RBK50

    NETGEAR Orbi High-performance AC3000 Tri-band WiFi System (RBK50)
back in stock, just bought one, thank you OP!!

  • Looks like there still some stock for the RBK50, was able to purchase a set.

  • Bought RBK50 thanks OP better be good, I got ASUS AC88U did a good job at coverage most of the house though speed sometimes slow down because I got so many wireless devices, going to stick one of Orb in the Garden on the Deck

    • I'm in exactly same situation. ASUS AC87U. Have so many devices, yeelights and Google home minis… Notice a slow down sometimes with the wireless where devices connected to ethernet have no issues. Finally ordered :)

  • anyone just looking for the router(RBR50)? I only need the Satellite (RBS50)?

  • Orbi might be out of stock again. The page says 'In Stock' but when i add to cart it says that quantity is unavailable (Quantity=1).

    • Same, no stock for rbk50

  • Arlo pro 2 pk available for $462.77
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B075P84FH2?th=1

    • its not VMS4430P (Camera 4 Security System)

  • BA can you ask for more RBK50 :D

    • +3

Haha.. Sure.. I will give a try again tomorrow but I am not sure if this time I get lucky :D

      • Thanks for trying!

        • Back in stock and the offer code works - I just checked out :)

          • @Loriden: damn.. i was too slow. out of stock again.

  • +1

    @Being Askhole

My man! Have been trying to get the Orbi's since the Father's day sale which I missed out on.
Was looking to cover around 500sqm (its a small house on 250sqm land) but build with concrete and re-bar, so I bought 2 sets just to be sure.

  • I got it last time when the orbi was around this price from W1. Simply amazing, set and forget. A lot of people will have different judgements to whether to turn on/off beamforming, daisy chain, MIMO etc etc. some of those are defaulted to off from purchase.

  • Called wireless 1 just then out of luck on the router, completely out of stock

    • Still showing stock on ebay

  • +1

How good! Made a price protection claim through my 28 degrees mastercard for the Orbi RBK50. Just got approved! Bought from JB for $479 a couple of months ago. $179.40 paid back into my account. Cheers OP!

  • I just paid $300 for a second hand set

  • Thanks again OP. I'd been watching for this to come up again for a while.
Managed to get an order in just before the second batch went OOS. I'd feared I might be waiting too long, but just got an email that its shipped today.

  • Orbi arrived, brilliant system. If anyone are having difficulties setting up their 2.4GHz equipment with it, usually smart plugs etc, set the wifi power to 25%, connect the device and then power backup to 100%. Left me head scratching for a while as there's no dedicated 5GHz and 2.4Ghz channel on the Orbi.

  • new Orbi deal please!
