All the Sony IER IEMS are already 30% off, and this can be stacked with the 10% off code BFCM at checkout to get some pretty great prices on these headphones. Not sure if the codes being able to stack is intentional or not.

The Z1Rs in particular have gotten quite a bit of praise, even from those like Crinacle who are well known for speaking their mind regarding over-priced or bad-sounding headphones.

Holy eardrums! That’s some expensive earphones.

    • +7

And I thought smart phone prices were ridiculous… I think we just hit 'Ludicrous Speed'.

  • +73

    thanks got 3

  • +2

I've had the M7 (could not justify paying more for the M9 as I'm not a muso) for almost a year and they are just awesome so I can only imagine what the others are like.

    • Agree. Same for me too. Had the M7 and it has been the best IEMs I ever purchased. Its even better when paired with Dragonfly Red. I used to own Campfire TOTL stuff but the Sony M7 changed the whole perspective for me.

  • +13

Holy moly, I think I can hear color with this earphones

  • +1

    Bargain!? Hahaha that's funny!

  • +36

    I…thought they were shower heads…

    • Okay. Glad it wasn’t just me.

I had to scroll back to wonder if I’d misread something…

    • LOL Imagine Sony showerheads.

  • +21

Thanks OP got a few spare pairs of the IER-Z1R, you know. good for when the kids break their other IER-Z1R (leave it on the bus, at a friend's place or just accidentally stand on them) You know what kids can be like.

    • +21

When my kids lose their Z1Rs I usually just make them suffer through having to use M9s for a few weeks (poor things) so they can learn their lesson. Harsh but fair :P

      • +4

If you don't mind me saying so sir/madam. You are a monster. I've called Child Protection Services on people for less. Your precious little angels should be donning at least a pair of Focal Utopia by Tournaire (RRP $120,000 USD) Though I'm certain given its Black Friday you might get 3% to 5% off.

  • -5

    Thanks! Got 10 😁

    • +16

      How original

  • +4

    My ears aren't worthy.

  • +6

OP they are earphones not headphones

I will fight this injustice wherever I see it until the world changes and gets it right

    • +9

I mean technically canalphones or IEMs are both more accurate terms than just 'earphones', but meh I'm happy to use them all interchangeably honestly

  • Great price OP, addicted to audio are great.
How do these compare with the Shure KSE1500?

  • Ok…earphonese for Bill and Ted.

  • +1

At this price, people should look at custom iem's.

  • +3

Ozbargain: REEE these are too expensive!!!!

Also Ozbargain: I should buy a third pair of identical sounding Senn mid-fis because Massdrop

    • Honestly, why would you? I mean, don't get me wrong, I've got multiple headphones myself, but never multiples of the same type.

    • Yes. This. So much.

  • +6

Don't forget cashrewards for another $2 off. /s

  • +5

Just wondering, um will Michael Jackson appear in front of me when I listen to these?

    • Theoretically this is the idea, close your eyes and he should sound as though he's right in front of you. Watch this Michael Fremer YouTube that outlines his involvement in the Quincy Jones vs. The Estate of Michael Jackson on the Anniversary release of the BAD album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qHvOaUYwWQ

  • These are good, I didn't think they could top the XBA-Z5 till I tried them.

    • Which model did you try?

  • Really need to “addicted to Audio“ to buy these

  • Very cheap.

imagine if you were need to made this from scratch

  • +6

Kind of shit if you don't have a good cassette player

    • -3

You jest but many of these people are listening to vinyl instead of CD still :D

      • wait, you listen to CDs still? lmao

  • Will the Z1R work well with my sony cassette player?

    • Only if it's an OG Walkman.

  • +4

I know people might find the price of the z1r comical, but if they fit you well they are the beat earphones I’ve ever owned - I had to change to a smaller shell equivalent and had to pay substantially more for it

    • +2

Agreed, I'm by no means a audiophile, but Sony IER-Z1R is my favourite top of the range IEM that I've tried, a very fun V-shaped sound signature that has one of the best sub-basses I've ever heard. I prefer its sound over many of the higher end 64 audio/shure/empire x options in the $3k-$6k ranges, so in a way, these have pretty good 'value' for the price if you are after a top of the line IEM.

    • of course it's going to fit…they supply around 100 different size ear buds.

      • +2

It's not the fit per say, it's the seal. I just couldn't get a good seal, though i do have retarded ear canals

        • i would assume the seal is related to how it fits and size

        • That's what comply foam tips are for

  • +1

I listened to the m9s recently and they are absolutely fantastic, but not enough bass response for me. I ended up going with Weston's w60, but if you're not into hip hop or EDM the m9s would be a solid choice at this price imo.

  • ask sony to price match then use amex.

  • Ill give you 3 crayons and a milk…

  • +10

    Pending loan approval

  • +3

Typical comments from the peanut gallery that know nothing about decent sound.

    • I'm perfectly fine with the earphones that come with my phone.

  • I’ve got the IER-M9s and I honestly much prefer it over my CA Andromeda S. Much more comfortable to wear for long periods of time but it’s the sub-bass that absolutely does it for me. The highs are just as good if not better imo (even with that favoured Andro “sparkle” at the top end). Pretty underrated pair of IEMs and overshadowed by the Z1R hype.

Z1Rs are a good price, you could probably earn a hefty profit if you can claim TRS and sell them locally in another country lol. Pretty sure this is way cheaper ($300 USD or so) than used prices across the world.

They’ve also got Focal Clears (a TOTL pair of headphones that some much prefer over HD800s) and Elegia bundle for pretty good prices as well after coupon.

  • Will broden these! thanks OP

Long time stalker, but with this post I just had to sign up for the lulz

  • +1

For those that have BT super products, you can go on Sony and get Sony IER - Z1R for 1,499.25. It is a partnership price. I did purchase one. I enjoy signature sound from Sony more than my Shure SE846. I mainly listen to KPOP, EDM, and sometimes hip hop. It really shine when you use 4.4mm on Sony NW-WM1A, particularly, female singers on pop songs.

    • -1

Thanks for that, it is an awesome price. Do you know if the $1499 is a black friday deal price or an usual price? Also love the Sony signature, currently using an EX1000 to listen to kpop :)

      • Ex1000 and the z1r would have totally different sound signature though.

      • +1

Hey, it is actually usual price on Sony Partnership website.

    • +1

      Kpop and EDM with these?
      What a waste…

  • +1

Is it pointless buying the IER-Z1R if using with a Galaxy Note?

  • -1

are these targeted for millionaires ? is there some gold leaf inside driving the tweeters lola.. the price is absolutely bonkers.

    • +2

What are these? Speakers for ants?!

  • +1

I just got the Blon BL-03 IEMs yesterday and they're blowing me away in terms of clarity, sound stage and bass response. They're currently $41 on Ali Express with the Black Friday sale.

If anyone has one of these super premium $1000+ earphones I'd love to meet up and do a comparison.

    • Great first purchase, the BL-03 are awesome sounding iems if you can get the fit right. If you want to compare with >$1k iems, many audio stores like Addicted to Audio (Mel/Syd/Per) or Minidisc (Syd) will let you try demo units out. The Sony IER-Z1R (in this deal) & Campfire Andromeda are two very well known iems around the $1.5k-2k range that I recommend. But be warned - it may be a better option to not try them for the sake of your wallet, I certainly have massive regrets entering the audiophile world.

      • As someone with like no experience in this area and not a musician, is getting a set like the BLONs a good idea for general listening? What are the pros/cons of getting a set of IEMs vs. any other set of wired earphones in the same price range?

        • +1

IEM (in-ear monitors) and earphones are terms that is used pretty interchangeably now, so its really just about researching and finding something that meets your sound quality, price, fit, comfort, build, level of sound isolation etc requirements.

  • +2

Ear phones that’s are worth more than my car 😫

  • Are these much better than Shure SE425?
    Or should I save money?

    • Most people generally start with the 215 and go 535/846 if you like the shure sound signature. The 315 and 425 has generally be known as not much of an upgrade compared to the 215.

      • 535 Red was probably my favourite. Just a well made IEM.

  • No Bluetooth?
    Or NFC?

Didn't know Gina Rinehart's, Andrew Forrest's, John Gandel's kids are using Ozbargain. 93 idiots have + the deal.
