8th gen core i3 according to their website. Probably the 8145u then.

      Found this:

2.1 GHz (TurboBoost up to 3.9GHz)

      i3-8145u specs match

    • I confirm that it is the 8145u.

Good specs for the price. 1.7kg a little heavy, but ok.

    • Yeah i agree.
I was torn between the Lenovo e495 (1.75 kg) that TA posted which is great and the one school recommended Acer spin 1 (1.6 kg/ 11.6"/ 4gb/ 128ssd).

Good device to take to school.
    FHD Touch screen.
    but
    Weak but good enough CPU
    Only 8GB RAM.
Great price though, for what you get

      Hmmm..
Not sure what kind of school subject needs 16GB ram and greater than a quad core i3-8145U.

I paid $660 a while ago (16 months?) for a similar setup except 7th Gen. It's done me fine with whatever statistical software packages I use.

    • I get by with 8GB for work, and I'm a pretty heavy user.

  • Lenovo flex with a Ryzen gets down to like $730, makes this not really worth it imo.

    • any links to this?

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/470590

You'll need to wait a bit but worth it imo. The GPU in the Ryzen is actually competitive to some dedicated GPUs & CPU is slightly faster.

Edit: also the pen is a bonus if you care about that…

If you're in the US at all this is basically a weekly special at various shops over there, but limited warranty locally then.

    • That's an amazing deal, i wish if it was available now and i was good at upgrading and making fine ajustements on electronics.
But i genuinely appreciate your input and hope the more tech advanced ozbargainers can benefit of this.
      Cheers
Edit: would also have loved to have the stylus Pen as it's not included in my deal.

I got $655 with PILGRIM applied, not $639

    • +1

Oh my God, i am so very sorry.. I don't know how i stuffed the calculation up!😢
It's $647.1 after 10% off non ebayplus discount.
I will update the post, thank you so much.

Looks like a great deal. I got the 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD version at JB for $559 a few months ago. Great laptop for my needs.

    • I set up this one last night and i am very happy with how fast it is and the quality build.
I realised it has backlit keyboard and finger print scanner ha ha Bonus!
My daughter should be very happy with santa this Christmas :)

      • No backlit keyboard on mine :-(

  • Anyone know if this works with a stylus?

    • +1

Yes there is a sticker on the laptop itself that says "rechargable active stylus".
You have to buy your own Stylus pen as it didn't come with the package.

Thanks. I'm close to buying this for my 12yo starting high school next year. Just doing a final look around to see if there's a better deal anywhere.

You are welcome and i hope that you find a great deal.
In the mean time if you do decide to go with this one, make sure you buy it before midnight tonight as the code PILGRIM will expire.

@HJR: Bought on my 28 Degrees card for price protection. Also, if another better option appears in the near future I might be able to return this one for a refund.

            • +1

@RangaWal: You did well getting it.
              Now it's back to $899 :)

              • @HJR: Crikey - never realised it usually costs that much!
