  • Was eyeing this one off this morning, decided was worth it even taking into account it was a refurbished. Interesting to see if its even noticeable that it is a refurb and not a new one. ETA Next Weds/Thurs

    • What quality are you expecting for this refurb v10? Are you expecting it to run same as a new v10 or do you think it will be slightly worse than a brand new item? We're thinking of getting one and would like to get some more viewpoints. Thanks!

      • +7

I would honestly expect a refurb, especially from the manufacturer, to function as new.

        • +7

Yes pretty much this, Dyson to me is the Apple of Vacuum cleaners lol so if the apple refurb units are anything to go buy i would expect to look and work like a new one

i guess the 22 ozbargainers that have just purchased will all find out next week haha

          • +1

@Schumi5: Yeah that's what I was thinking too. We would have been more cautious if it isn't sold by the Dyson store. Though one would think it is a refurb because someone returned it due to defect? Anyway, we bought it now so we'll see in a week's time. Thanks cooni and Schumi5.

          • @Schumi5: A refurb Dyson is very diff to a refurb Apple. Trust me. I have bought a few products from both.
But other than cosmetic imperfections I didnt run into any prob with my Dyson refurbs.

            • @truetypezk: Time will tell, worse case can always return it i guess

        • Dyson refurbed my DC08 when parts guarantee ended. Was going to toss it but came up so good i kept using it. New motor, filters etc. Fantastic job, worked like new.

      • Don't expect it work like new, particularly a product running on rechargable battery. Even with a new one, the parts become like loosy after a few uses though functioning is still fine. Compared with an existing v8 like me it's worth the upgrade though.

  • hurry be quick, 5 sold in 10 mins.

    • 14 sold

  • Shame it doesn’t come with the stand.

  • +1

I would be more worried about the battery not the unit itself. Hopefully the battery is new

  • +1

Just ordered , upgrading my 6 year old dyson upright vacuum.

  • Ordered. Going to try my luck :-)

  • This or v8 for $450?

    • +2

From what we've read, V10 is a big upgrade from V8. I would say the extra $100 is worth it (assuming quality is similar)

    • +3

V10 worth it just for the emptying mechanism alone.

    • I got V8 animal for $390..

  • +4

Damn these Dyson cordless vacuums get superseded even faster than mobile phones.

  • +3

for those wandering, found this on the listing

How long is the Dyson Guarantee on refurbished Dyson machines?

Refurbished Dyson machines are stripped, cleaned, rebuilt and tested by Dyson to a nearly-new standard. Every refurbished machine bought from Dyson comes with a one year Dyson Guarantee that reflects the thoroughness of the refurbishment process.

    • Just one? Doesn't a normal new Dyson come with a multi-year warranty?

      • 1year vs 2 year.

  • +5

Feels a bit like a shark feeding frenzy, Ozbargainer's feeding off each other's excitement and snapping them up regardless… let's hope we're not all just a bunch of Lemmings :)!

    Thanks OP, fingers crossed!

  • +8

    $549 for a used vacuum cleaner…

    • +3

For one of the best vacuums with 1 year manufacturing warranty worth $899-$999. Yeah

  • +2

I can't even work out my savings. I think I got it for final discounted cost of $360.
    - Play100 @ $50,
    - Myer Amex credits across several cards
    - Flybuys Ebay offer at 2000pts (across 6 cards)
    - Paypal 20% off for last part of payment….
    - Velocity points ( I hope )

The soft-roller head got me. All our floors are wood and tiles

@Scotty You need a commission from ebay on sales produced from OZB!
@Global Nomad - your right, we are all lemmings. lol!

    • I didn't realise velocity changed their conditions with ebay purchases on October 29, apparently if you use any codes that are not listed on their website you don't get the points any more. Spent $$ last week on dashcams and still no email from virgin which is what lead me to check the website to see if anything had changed.

    • +1

Can you elaborate on the following deals?

Flybuys eBay offer & PayPal 20% off?

  • Tried V10 and V11 on the shop last black friday. It's definitely much heavier than v6/v8. For me the vacuum is not that portable anymore.

V11 is noticeably much quieter than v10

  • +1

    How much are Dyson v11?

Alot of stores $1199 but there's a store for $800 or so, was just googling. I only looked because most on gumtree were $850+

    https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/dyson-v11-torque-d…

Noticed, based out of HK tho

    • When Bing Lee ebay had 20% off their store recently, the Dyson V11 Torque Drive was $800 + $9 shipping. AU stock too.

  • I have had a Dyson repaired .. it came back in new condition.

  • +5

66 sold since the eBay listing went up yesterday and 61 of them since OP posted.
Is it a concern that Dyson have so many units available that needed to be refurbished?

    • They are probably returned units from the 45 day money back guarantee.

  • The $594 deal posted on ebay/kogan couple weeks back was much better for the v10 animal, brand new unit, 2 years warranty, only 1 extra head with the absolute.

    • But it's that head that sells it for some - like me. Ridiculous you can't get it separately.

    • +1

that 'only' extra 1 head is a big inclusion - making the vacuum quite a bit more effective for hard flooring, worth about $200 alone and is quite difficult to find

      • Absolutely this. All our floors are wood/tile and we have a choc lab!

        • +7

Damn, chocolate laboratories must be very messy!! :0

  • +3

I know that this is a great vac and all…but cant justify a 500+ spend when the crappy wired vac is still working ….

    • +2

It's just really convenient without the wire tying you down. I thought the same until I tried this.

      • 500+ convenient :p just get someone else to vac it HAHAH

  • Great price. I paid $599 last year for the v10 absolute.

    It’s a great vacuum.

    • Not sure why you got downvoted.

Yours must have been that hourly deal where there was 50 to 100 stock which sold out in seconds. I can see why people would be jealous.

I ended up paying $699 for mine through price protection refund but I did get the free Dok with mine.

      • I got the V10 Animal last year from Amazon possibly during the cyber weekend for ~$585. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/420375

As Crawfish mention, it's a great vacuum.

Just purchased this one for mum as she likes my one. Might swap with her if there's much of a weight difference.

  • There is no wrath like that of a scorned ozbargainer, let alone dozens of them, imagine the negative feedback worldwide if they all suck, badly.
Dyson, you have been warned… :))

  • -2

    I paid like $800 for a v6 absolute

  • +1

Not as good as the Miele Cat and Dog, but definitely holds it's own compared to a decent corded vac. Emptying mechanism super easy

  • It says official dyson guarantee - 1yr and refurbished guarantee - 1 yr. Does that make the warranty 2 years?

  • Buy now, think later. Typical ozbargain response. First Dyson purchase, let's see if it lives up to it.

  • Do the tools from the V8 fit ? And are the tools for the v10 new or are they also refurbed ?

    • They should.

  • I have a V8 and is it worth upgrading ?

I have not tried it but might be able to sell my V8 for $200

    • Missus prefer to keep our V6 as V10 and V11 are too bulky and too heavy for her

      • I bet you are the one who empty the bin for her.
V8-11 is a lot easier to clean

  • Thanks OP! Bought one! This should be heaps better than my V6 animal haha!

  • Upgrading from a DC59!

  • -1

Anyone know what improvements over a V6?

I don't mind my V6 but I find emptying the dust container isn't a great experience.

Plus I'm finding that I have to constantly clean out the head as dust blocks it. Might be cause I've had it a few years though

  • I did a comparison when v10 came out.
V6 is enough for a small 1-2 bed apartment.
Sunction power is similar or at least enough for most vacuum.
V10 has a much bigger bin and easier to empty.
Battery is another big improvement: (60min vs 20min) or (8min vs 4min at max).
    Also v10 is quieter

  • Anyone else having the issue that Play100 doesn't work?

    • Worked fine for me just now.

  • +1

    Sold out all 240 units

  • +3

Got mine today. Scuff marks on the unit and dents on the wand. Expected near new not second hand.

    • Darn. Sorry to hear.

      • That's a Bummer…maybe return it!

        • +2

yes. Getting it returned. Even my 6 year old DC59 isn’t that bad condition. The refurbished units are very banged up.

          • @gunso: Still, it's a bitter disappointment and one would definitely expect/hope for better!

  • +6

I got mine yesterday. Condition is mint. Didn't come in original box and packing(doesn't matter a lot). Attachments are clean as NEW. Very Minor scratch on plastic part of the attachment. All-to-gather looks in a very good condition. Tested the vacuum cleaner for few minutes and worked fine. Going to do rigorous testing today. All the best to others :-)

    • Looks like your luck of the draw was better then others. Will wait to see how mine is when it arrives this week

      • update your luck when it arrives.

  • +2

Mine arrived today. One of the attachments even has hair @@@. Quite a few tears and wears around the main body and attachments. The battery shows red for a while, then with 2 blue bars, after a few minutes, it shows red again. I am considering whether I should return it. Gerhhh, not a good experience and bad luck.

  • +2

Got mine today. Haven't used it yet but other than some visual imperfections, looks good so far. No tell-tale signs of dirt, hair etc. Not in original box, some attachments look to be new.

  • +1

    Got mine today.

Light dust in the dust bin but otherwise looks brand new! Super happy.

  • +1

Vacuum Arrived today. Visually brand spanking new overall with no dents or scuffs on the product.

  • Well so far I'm reading nothing but high praise and positive recommendations for these refurb's on Dyson's eBay store feedback…

  • MM, still yet to receive mine. was also one of the first to order. Anyone else in the same boat? Delivery initially said Dec 11-12(Melbourne here)

  • Just received mine today, refurb box
Condition is okay but carpet roller head doesn't work..

  • Just received, brand new apart from some dents in the wand.

  • +1

    Update to the order
Received this reply after asking what is happening, needles to say not happy.

Thank you for your patience in this matter being resolved.

While we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that may have been caused, we can see that there has been an issue with this order being sent through to the Dyson system and as a result it has not been finalised.

Unfortunately we no longer stock of this machine available and as such we have cancelled your order to make sure that a full refund is processed for you.

We hope this has answered your query.

    • +2

That's a bit poor from a big player.
