Hoyts Movie Vouchers 10x Adult $100 (Must Purchase at Cinema)

420

Went to Hoyts Northland yesterday and asked if they had any specials on tickets. Lady pulls out a plastic tub full of Adult Super Saver booklets. Said they have plenty at $100, but will revert back to $125 when they sell out. I bought 2 booklets. Called Hoyts Chadstone out of curiosity, and yep they have the same deal running. Haven't seen this special advertised anywhere, and it's not available on line. Only restrictions are no entry after 5pm Saturdays, and valid for 6 months (mine expire end of Feb 2012). PS: You can use these vouchers to watch a 3D movie by paying a few extra dollars.

  • good find, do you know if 3D screenings included?

    • +3

Not included. She specifically said you pay a few dollars more if you want to see a 3D movie.

    • +2

      add $3 for 3D

      • I believe it's an additional $2.50 for 3D.

    • -1

The extra $$$ is for the 3D glasses. So, in a sense, it does include 3D screenings.

      • Aren't 3D glasses only $1?

        • +2

Just get a free pair in the recycle bins where people throw away their glasses.

      • +1

Its $2.50 extra for 3D plus $1 on top if you need glasses. I know because I used one of these tickets the other day.

  • lets home event do the same thing…

  • Yeah would be useful if my local hoyts showed 2D version of the big movies but they don't. And you can't book online etc.

    and valid for 6 months

    deal breaker for me… :(

    • +6

10 movies in 6 months can be done easy… and if you go with someone thats only 5 movies

    • +1

Deal breaker for sure.. lucky if there are 10 movies a year to see at the cinema these days.. ;)

I went over once but was saved by the fact that the tickets were stamped for a years validity. Second time I only just squeezed in the 6 month period. This is with 3-5 people going at a time.

Hollywood produces a lot of crap and paying $20+/ticket is a worthless joke. Finding enough movies in 6 months, for me at least, to watch is risky at best and, invariably, you wind up with too few cheap tickets for the group you're with and you're either stuck with another book or buy at full price.

IMO they're pricing themselves out of existence. I stopped going. I'll wait for a DVD or BR release. It'll cost me a tickets-worth at most.

        • The thing is, with these vouchers, you aren't paying $20+/ticket.
In fact, I've never seen any cinema charge $20+. Except Gold Class or Imax. Which is understandably more expensive.

        • I have. Add up all the bits for vmax, 3d, etc and it easily hits $20+ (if I'm going to go see it on a small screen I may as well see it at home).

As for buying a book of 10, see my post above.

        • Or… Use the rest of the vouchers and buy the 1 or 2 tickets you need at normal price (they aren't that much more than the $10 each this costs).

How funny, I was at Hoyts Northland last night as well and bought these tickets by chance. It's $2.50 extra for 3D movies. But nothing extra for the Extreme Screen cinemas. Should be easy enough to use it all up within 6 months if you go with friends.

  • Great, was looking for this and just bought it last week from alwaysonsale for $110 + $4 shipping

  • I'd love to neg this because my local cinema still only charge $8 for movies, but for people who only have a Hoyts movie cinema in their area don't really have a choice so I guess this is a good deal for them.

    • Weird, I don't know how people can consider $10 such a bargain when some cinemas only charge $8 or $9 for a standard session, no discounts. How can I give a positive vote for something that is $2 MORE than I already pay? Are people in Australia just getting conditioned to paying exhorbitant prices for movies? I didn't neg the deal, just saying it's really not a bargain. It's cheaper than Hoyts normally charge, but that's like getting a $10 mouse from HN when you could normally buy it at MSY for $8. If I tried posting a deal like that, people would neg the deal out of existence. Why is a movie ticket different?

  • Hasn't this been going on for a while? I bought mine for $100, two months ago.

    • Yeah I bought some about 4 months ago for $100. I think it's quietly an ongoing sale they just aren't advertising it anywhere. A good deal, pretty much half price esp if you see the 3D movies (only $12.50)

Deal breaker for me would be the Saturday restriction. I buy these from work's corporate rate for 105 but doesn't have that restriction.

Tickets at my local are $9, no vote.

  • +1

meh, my MBF tickets are only $9 each.

    • Hmmm, it costs $10.50 ea for me from MBF. Are you sure Devok that it's $9?

I can bought this voucher from my uni lol

    • same, unrestricted adult tix at my uni are $12, students are $10.

      • WHAT? HOW?

      • WHAT? HOW?

  • there are always available from all hoyts not really a special

  • Oh, just checked wtf they changed it?! Lucky I bought heaps when it was $9….

  • +1

Only reason why this might be considered a 'deal' is because they rip everyone off in movie prices anyway. Australia pays about twice as much for films then America or even New Zealand.

  • They didn't have this offer at chatswood :(
