      • That’s not how it works…

Um no Vodafone don't even have double digits in marketshare. Telstra have about 50% marketshare.

Telstra adjust the CVC accordingly to maintain faster speed.

    • Thanks, I rang online chat and threatened to leave, so they offered me the 100/40 plan and waived the fee.

Just an FYI - I am a current Kogan nbn user, paying the $65.90 for Silver (50mbps) due to my FTTN getting about 65mbps max (about 350m from the node) which put me in an awkward spot of paying extra for not much benefit. Upon calling, they gave me the deal even though I wasn't a new customer.

  • I get 116mbps from the wall on Kogan NBN100 FTTN. Pings are comparable to when I was with AussieBB before. Maybe I'm just an edge case but I've been pleasantly surprised

    • The problem isnt usually when signing up, it's when they eventually oversell or you need their support that you get screwed.

Does anyone know if Telstra Smart modem Gen2 work with Kogan nbn?

    • +1

I'm switching from Telstra cable to superloop (kongan should be same) HFC and I'm going to use the Telstra smart modem gen2 for my wireless router as it has a WAN port. I rang superloop and confirmed and the girl was super knowledgeable and very polite.
I'm so tired of talking to India technical support with Telstra it's been driving me bonkers.

    • +1

      Yep the G2 works.

      • Once your account is activated, do you have to change any settings on the Telstra smart modem? The house which I have just moved into previously had Telstra fttc and I was left with this modem. I have arranged to be connected to Kogan and received an email today at midday that a welcome email will be sent once my nbn was activated. No welcome email yet, how long does this usually take?

        • +1

No settings needed to be changed for Kogan.

Every ISP varies. It can take 24-48 hours with Kogan.

  • Cheering signed up few days ago 75 for 1st month with free modem … 1 month commitment.. Can change plan after

Im confused they keep aaying NBN prices are going down.. But kogans base plan went up. Parents signed up for 58 months ago now more

  • I called to change my plan to this one (currently pay $75 pm) and the rep flat out refused saying it was only for new customers.

    • i had no issue.

      Got my confirmation text also.

      • I didn’t receive any text. What does it say ?

I was told since I’m sort of in the middle of my billing cycle they’ll do a pro rata calculation and it will be reflected in the January invoice.

Current user on silver 50/20 plan. FTTP. Called them up around 5.00 PM today to avail this upgrade. Was done no problems. Just checked speed 140/40. Not Bad….

  • Would this work with the Gen 2 NBN modem Telstra provides? Obviously without VOIP and Backup.

Telsta are reeming me a solid 95 per month for 50/20

If no, whats everyones recommendations on a replacement?

    Cheers

    • I am using Telstra gateway max…

    • Yep the G2 works.

  • Someone earlier mentioned churning in as little as 20 minutes.

Just spoke to customer service with Kogan and the rep said it would be 24-48 hours/2 biz days.

My Superloop connection will cutoff at midnight on Friday, so should I be ordering the Kogan connection on Wednesday afternoon to ensure the smoothest churn?

  • Looks like this offer is extended to existing customers… I'm currently on Kogan NBN50 and received an email about the offer!

Now the question is, how much of a headache will it be to roll back to NBN50 when the 6 months mature, hmmm…

  • This one or Vodafone? Same?

  • static IP?

    • Search?

      Static IP address.

Kogan is unable to offer static IP addresses at this time.

Superloop have 100/50 deals now for $68.95 a month (for the first 6 months, no lock in/BYO modem) - basically the same deal but $3 more than Kogan's. Might be worth it for better performance and vastly better customer service?

I was on SLoop's old first month free deal, so I think I'm not eligible - unless I will become eligible after being disconnected for X amount of time. Would be nice to know the value of X in that equation but I guess I'll find out the hard way.

  • I have moved into a new house which previously had Telstra FTTC connected. I signed up for kogan this morning around 8.30am and still waiting for connection. How long does this usually take? I assumed we wouldn't need a technician? It is a Sunday, would this impact?

    • I think because its Sunday. Wait til tomorrow and see what happens.

  • Just signed up this morning around 10am. Still no email regarding activation. Did anyone managed to get it activated during the weekend?

  • Just called Kogan Customer Support and requested an upgrade to my existing Sliver Plan. Straightforward and quick process.

  • signed up this morning at 9am, service was activated at 7pm. It is on Vodafone NBN.

then called ABB to cancel, and they agreed to end the service as of today. No strings attached.

Kudos to ABB for being fair dinkum.

  • Signed up. Their explanation of the supply technologies is a little lacking (non existent). I signed up without the request for a modem anyway. We have FTTC available at our address and my understanding for it and FTTP is that the NTD/NCD does all of the "modem" work and all I require is a router on the end of the NTD.

Time will tell anyway. The price is good for NBN100 so I'll reassess in 6 months, but I'm more looking forward to the natural speed bumps during the connection phase. I work closely with the industry and I have very little confidence in the people that are involved with it and/or are installing and rolling it out.

    Cheers OP.

    • Which plan have you signed up on? I tried the 'gold' plan which is 85 a month and clicked through to see if it reduces to 65. It doesn't. So I tried the silver plan for 65 to see if it upgrades up to 100mbps. It doesn't. Not sure how to proceed so wondering how you did it. Appreciate if you can let me know!

      • Not showing up for me either. Seems like the deal has ended.

        • You guys must have just missed out. I signed up around 2pm this arvo, I definitely left it late as I suspected it was due to finish some stage today.

It definitely showed it on the splash screen during my sign up. You could try and contact kogan support and plead your case. Worth a shot.

  • signed mine up on the 31/12 as well, only got the order confirmation from email and that's all.

    what am i expecting next?

  • Just got billed $74.42?? Anyone got billed more than the price mentioned above?

    • Hadn't got my bill yet.

Is it a pro rata charge?

    • Kogan cycle is from 1st of the month

The extra is prorata from whe you signed u

      I've got the same
