Kogan Mobile 365 Days Flex Plans - 80 GB ($150), 158 GB ($205), 243 GB ($275) 486 GB ($335)

160

Just got an email from Dick Smith with these new 365 Flex plans from Kogan Mobile

I think they are similar to Boost Mobile.

Hopefully, they will launch some offers also to make it even sweeter deal.

Boost mobile has an international call, does Kogan has it?

Also big different between Telstra and Vodafone

    • +1

i don't think Kogan has international calling included in their plans. You are right about the Telstra and Vodafone network coverage. But I did use Kogan for a few months and it seems ok in the city areas.

      • I used Kogan too and has no issue. This plan is for 1 year and I may travel a few time a year so should stick with Telstra better.

    • +6

Add VoLTE and VoWIFI with Boost, none of that with Kogan. This is not a bargain?

  • +5

The 150 is Worhtless compared to Boost.

    • Agree. Kogan only really shines in the areas boost have no respective plans.

For example I don't know if boost or anybody has a plan equivalent to the 158 GB ($205) 365 day one.

80gb 12 months is not enough for me now so the next one up is looking like a snack right now.

  • I'll be switching to Boost mobile when my Kogan 12 month subscription expires in Jan. Tired of the Vodafone network.

  • +1

It's identical to the Boost plan, except that Boost also includes unlimited international standard calls & text to 25 selected destinations +1200 standard mins & text to 30 selected destinations. Also Telstra network.

Kogan has visual voicemail, Boost does not. But I can't remember the last time I received a voicemail.

So, basically the same. If you're already on Kogan and happy with it (like me) here is your reason not to port your service to Boost.

  • +3

The 240gb plan use to be cheaper when it was 20gb per month.

    $152.30 in Jan 2019
    $254.30 in April 2019

    • +1

Holy shit you are right. They raised the price by like $100.

That would have been perfect for me honestly.

I tried boost and realised I don't find any uses for the international calls maybe might call some overseas numbers tonight to see how it is on the other side but honestly I never use it so Kogan looks like it the next one for me will be aiming the $204 plan unless they make the 20gb plan cheaper again.

I've been doing the Kogan & Catch Connect 3 month sim slut plan for 2 years now, best decision ever. Works out $60 or less per year.

Embrace it, understand it, love it and tolerate it and it will do all those things back to you this I promise you.

          Class over!

        • Was looking into this, and just decided to start the journey. Quick question though… If I already have 4 Catch Connect services on my email address (used the cashback offers to get some sims/data for free) and all are out of credit, can I still use that email address to get the 3 month plan when the Kogan one I just purchased expires? Or do I need to keep rotating an email address too? Cheers

          • +1

@smifter: I'm pretty sure you can use the same email because you are starting a new service. I've never had 4 on the one account though.

I'm actually moving to Belong before the end of the year, 6 months 85GB data for $15. Trying something different, plus cheaper but less data. I'm spending too much time online so hopefully this will help.

            • @Arthur Dunger: Yeah that sounds pretty good too. Out of interest, do you know if the Belong offer just gives the full data allowance from the beginning and if you use it in month 1 then you have no more data? Am wondering about this for my daughter but suspect without the data capped each month she might will just burn through it in the first couple of months. Yes, it might be a good teaching moment, but I'd still have to get more data at some point I'm sure lol.

              Edit: formatting

              • +1

@smifter: The link to my comment says that you will get 80gb to start with. Then depending what plan you move to on the 2nd month you will get more data. My suggestion is to move to the $10 plan on the 2nd month which is 1GB.

    • +1

Haha, and the deal for $254.30 actually got more votes than the earlier identical offer for $152.30, go figure lol.

  • Boost has roaming

    • But not everywhere - Iceland was a notable omission for me.

  • +7

Boost smashes this. Up your game Kogan

    • +1

Not if you just need local and data then Kogan wins.

The 158 GB ($205) 365 days is a great sweet spot.

Now I just need to find out if Kogan stacks prepaid plans so I can get maybe three years worth all in one go and get the headache over now instead of once every year.

      • i gotta agree with that last line. 365 day plans are definitely my thing, set and forget.

Did notice that kogans performance got worse in my area as more people jumped on the deal, 4g download speed when I signed up was blazing but slowed after 6 months.

        • I forgot which provider allowed you to extend plans up to a certain point like xbox live game pass subscriptions but am hoping I remember or somebody knows what I am talking about.

  • +1

I just transferred from a 365 day Kogan plan to a 365 day Boost plan. I do have slightly better coverage with Vodafone in certain places (e.g.when I'm at my desk at work) but having the Telstra network in general (especially when I travel remotely) will make it a much better option.

The costs and data allowance were virtually identical. I paid $270 with 240GB for Boost (though I have seen it a fair bit cheaper on here).

  • +1

We are moving all our Kogan / Vodafone services to Telstra / Boost as they expire. That's at least 6 phone accounts.

Every interaction with Telstra / Boost just feels more professional, more polished. The coverage is also far superior in the bush. (countryside that is)

It helps of course that Boost pricing is now super competitive with these VodaFone backed brands :)

  • Does boost have any similar plans like Kogan that offer 40 GB/ month for a yearly plan?

  • Boostmobile is no doubt a game changer since May 2019. Kogan is second though, as I am happy with vodafone network 360 days of a year. But with same price, I don't hesitate switching to Boost.
I have switched 4 services from koganmobile to Boost mobile in the last 6 months, and next will be on Feb 2020, unless Kogan makes a suprise.
Well done boost and good luck to Kogan.

    • What plan is your favourite?

I might try the 158 GB ($205) 365 day plan with Kogan next recharge as 80gb over 12 months won't cut it for me next year.

Now that I am working I use a lot of data on the train trying to get what little he time and rest I can on the blue mountains trains.

From YouTube to music the data does add up especially if you keep tapping on those suggested recommended videos.

  • Telstra or Vodafone for blue mountains area.. There is not much coverage on the train I know with boost atm so wondering if maybe switching to Kogan might be better for using data on train rides.

    • +1

There is no need to speculate. Just buy a kogan/vodafone starter kit and give a test on your train.

  • I suspect this will go on sale at some point, which is when it will offer good value. At 40% off, these would fly out the door.

    • Amen.

I got four months to find a juicy data plan over 150gb 12 months.

Maybe even more if I'm lucky.

Those cornhub videos cost a lot of data.

    • Around end of Jam IIRC

There was a heap posted on 28 Jan

      E.g. $153.39 for 20gb/30days
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/434872

      • Butter do you think they will do it again this beer?

        • Nest 6 pick I thanks

  • Good idea actually what is a good starter Telstra one?

  • +2

Remember those days when Kogan did BOGOF on their plans.. then jacked up the price after the 1 year has ended.. and everyone switched to Boost? lol

  • I used to be with Kogan for 365d 20GB per month plan. All good.
But early this year I switched to Catchconnect when they were doing their 365d plans at 50% off, so got their 375GB plan for 205$ instead of 410$.
Hope this time of year someone offers something similar or BOGOF …

    • Yeah me too.. except I came from the 13GB Kogan plan. I find that the Optus connection on Catch is really unreliable compared to Voda on Kogan. My streaming radio would frequently lose connection when I'm driving around in Sydney. It's annoying af having to constantly keep pressing play every so often! Won't be staying on Catch even though I got it at 50% off with a further 10% off using a code as well as stacking with discounted gift cards.

      • I get disconnections with Circles.Life too, happens when I'm stationary - just randomly disconnects.

  • I'm helping out a novice user.

Can one buy this Kogan Mobile | $14.90 for 90 Days | 20GB Per 30 Days | Unlimited Talk & Text (Porting Australian Number to Kogan Required) deal first and then use this deal?

Can you add both recharge codes at the same time?

    • no as they are not recharges but for new customers only.

      • This deal isn't for new customers though. So do this second.

Sorry I wasn't clear: the novice user is now with TPG.

  • Further 10% off by buying Kogan Gift Cards

Get further discounts now by buying 10% off Kogan eGift Cards @ Kogan - OzBargain

For those already with Kogan prepaid 365-day and close to expiry, they will send you an email to offer the Small Prepaid 365-day plan at $164.20 for 97GB (8GB/month).

    • +1

Do you know how close to expiry? I'm 15 days away and don't want to leave it too late for sim delivery/porting etc.

EDIT: nevermind, I'd prefer the cheaper 365 flex 80gb plan for $150.
