This is an original and unique game and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

Don’t listen to the negative reviews!

Same here! It’s not quite a ‘walking sim’ as what other beg reviews are saying.

I’ve done hardly any walking after progressing into the game. I’d say 15% of my time is walking

      • I think those people are still stuck in the tutorial areas… I'll admit I was there for awhile and got bored until someone gave me advice to advance the story.

        • it is a good game, but not UNIQUE , feel very similar to MGS2+ MGS3+ MGS4 + MGS5 :D
If you have never played any kojima game, this is a game that you MUST play.

    • I can see why this was a tough game to review if you were on a somewhat tight deadline.

If you were trying to 'mainline' this game and get through it in a week, you're probably not going to get the upgrade rewards for completing side content and not going to put a ton of time into building infrastructure - both of which make life so much easier in the mid-late game. If you hadn't built much and/or were still rolling really basic gear, I can absolutely see some sections of this game being a terrible slog.

Reviews, especially game reviews, should always be taken with a mountain of salt. I'm really glad I didn't let them scare me off.

Finished this game a couple of days ago and loved it.

I was worried that it would be something I 'appreciated' but ended up bouncing off of as a player when life got busy and it struggled to hold my attention. But that didn't happen at all. I found the whole thing oddly compelling and satisfying in a way that's hard to describe without spoilers, and I ended up putting 90-odd hours into it to finish the game and most of the side content.

I decided to take a chance and preorder the game, knowing that I have price protection and the option to just sell it if I hated it, and I'm really glad I just went in fairly blind and didn't let the mixed reviews scare me off trying it for myself. It's definitely not for everyone, and I think there are perfectly fair reasons why someone wouldn't enjoy it, but it's a very well made game that does something different and there really is something to love here.

I won't tell people what to do with their time or how to spend their money, but I will say that if you were someone who just watched the Dunkey "review" of this game and thought "well, never playing THAT piece of crap!", you're really doing yourself a disservice in writing Death Stranding off.

I heard this is the first "Strand-type game" can anyone confirm this? And I am of average intelligence, so I may not be fully capable of enjoying this, correct?

    • Nah, you should be right.

  • This game is based on multiple fetch quests, and using rewards to build roads, bridges networks.

It's certainly a unique game, killing enemies will have dire consequences, so you cannot go guns blazing, but it's not like good old sneaking game (MGS) either.
Wondering and avoiding BTs are tough but rewarding too, if you know how to go around them.

Best part of the game is to interact with objects/infrastructures that other players have left and connected to your world via online. (I dont think you need PSN Plus for this to work)
using someone else's car, bikes saved my ass on few occasions.
I've played over 20 hrs and only on about 40-50% mark (thats not covering entire side quests but taking slow paces)

I quite like the slow pace game and makes me to think how I can improve the situations, but it's definitely not suited for "everyone", some may find them boring, no action.
