Make sure you check your cc fine print as there is usually a minimum price difference required. My Amex states $75 which imo is unlikely that these will drop by that much.

The problem with WF's is you can't disable the noise cancelling when you first turn them on by default. It is always enabled when you turn them on which means if there is wind or you're outside walking you get a lot of wind noise, and turning it off is a process.

Yes switching modes is a single tap. Or can let it switch modes automatically based on actions like walking.
It is a tap, but not a single tap. You have to tap - then the lady says "Now in ambient mode", then tap again and she finally says something like "disabled noise cancelling" and then you're set. This takes like 10-12 seconds, and if you tap too early with the second tap you have to wait a moment and tap again.
Why it doesn't remember the last mode just doesn't make any sense at all.
I bought a pair of WFs back in August (Amex Sony $150 credit deal) and can confirm wind is annoying. The auto switching between modes is great but doesn't really deal with that.
The noise cancelling is not OTT - as you'd expect it wouldn't be with earphones; but it really does help. I love my WFs, great sound, pairing (after initial pair) is instant. They're comfortable; and the app is really useful in keeping an eye on battery life (which is huge) and last month's software update even lets you see the charge level for the carry case. For reference, I mostly use mine in a commute (bus, train, walk).

How are they for phone calls? I found the Galaxy Buds unusable, using a pair of Jabra 65t but would prefer something with USB-C charging
Phone calls are ok (well, I've had no complaints), but when on the phone outside the wind noise comes back (even when noise cancelling is off) and you're speaking with a bunch of woosh and shhh sounds which is annoying.
You arsehats jacked up the price of the NW-A100TPS from $599 to $649. Screw you guys. I'll take my business to Minidisc.

Bought some Ultrasone Pro 900’s 7 years ago from A2A and they’re looking a bit worse for wear. Contemplating just replacing the pads but also thinking about an upgrade.
I do like Slogic and do like the 900s for gaming - I listen to rock and a bit of edm, but primary use would be games.
Paired with a Schitt stack but really unsure what I can ‘upgrade’ to. Tried the 820s and while they sounded pretty good (plus were super comfy and light) I don’t think they’re worth the near 2k spend.
Happy to look at opens as well as I’ve only really used closed - I’ve got my own study so isolation isn’t as big an issue as it once was.
Obviously the best thing to do is come in and try things out, but do you guys have any recommendations?

Thanks OP - unfortunately I couldn’t buy it from A2A in person due to my location - but local JBHIFI store (DFO Canberra) matched the $311.40 deal. I head overseas in a couple of days (TRS ready) so effective price is $283. I was not sure if JB’s could/would price match A2A’s offer but worked out well in the end - go other fellow deal hunters and get a good price. And I would have definitely bought from A2A if I lived in one of the big cities, they sound like a legendary business with good deals.

I would have bought the headphones in-store instead if I knew the deal extended to the 6th. Have to wait a few more days because of weekends, them not open on Mondays, public holidays and slow dispatch of goods. My non-express ebay package arrived faster than it. The delivery stars didn't align unlucky for me.
