  • Great price on the 4xl I think. I guess 64gb isn't much space these days though, my 2xl has the same.

    • +1

Depends if you even store anything on your phone. I've used around 16GB on mine.

      • I mostly stream but I do a lot of international flights so it's nice storing a lot of tracks in high quality.

    • +1

I mean with the unlimited full quality backups on Google Photos, 64 is plenty on the 2XL. Unfortunately that's not available on the 4XL so 64 could be a tight squeeze.

  • +2

Great price but tbh better off to go for Pixel 3a XL 64 GB at $577 at HN. I bought one from JB recently and battery life is great

    • +2

I agree. The pixel 4 lineup has been a disappointment. You should consider the pixel 3a, or other phones like samsung(s) at a similar price range.

      • Wouldn't the midrange processor of the 3a show it's age during the life of the phone? I'm also not sold on the plastic build.
I know the pixel 4 has bad battery life, but what about the 4xl?

        • I've had the 2xl 3xl and for 1 month the 4xl and the battery life is similar to the 3XL. Remember the battery is almost 10% larger than the 3xl. It was the Pixel 4 that had the small battery. Though i do like the suggestion of buying the 3a xl. I have no problem with a plastic instead of glass for the back of the phone. And unless you're planning on heavy gaming video/photo editing I think the CPU speed/power would be fine for at least a few more years. Also the Pixel 3a xl has received many accolades and good reviews, the Pixel 4 xl, not so much, and you save almost half your money!!

Is this Australian stock? If not you are being dishonest and misleading.

    • +2

It's a suburb in Melbourne, and the listing says 24 month Google warranty, so should be OK. An alternative would be to price match at Officeworks if they have stock, which is what I did before, but it tooks 3 times calling up to get someone who would do it.

      • +7

They are a legit local business and I would support them rather than going officeworks saving a few bucks.

    • They come in only two versions , US and global, these ones are global versions for sure.

      • +1

        AU charging brick?

        • +8

Yes these are global versions for Aus market with google warranty claimable in Australia.

    Excellent Shop, shit phone.

    • -3

Wouldn't go so far as to say that it's a shit phone. It does what it needs to do at the price point it needs to be at. It's main competitors are the like of the Galaxy S10+, which is consistently more expensive.

In terms of features, it ticks the boxes - good performance, stock Android with timely updates, very good camera…etc.

      • +8

Bad battery life, no wide angle camera, still terrible video recording, dodgy implementation of 90Hz, no 4K60 recording…and its structurally weak and bends in the middle.

Definitely the most disappointing and overpriced pixel to date (I've had all the prior ones).

        • Arguably best smart phone camera on the market at the moment tho

          • @bringbring: that may have been the case when the pixel 3 had just come out
            but pixel 4 is debatable,
I'd much prefer the camera on Iphone 11 or 11 pro or the note 10/galaxy s10

        • +1

Never said it was the best phone, just that it has reasonable features and a few things that are unique to Pixel phones, namely stock Android and unlocked bootloader for root access. Samsung and Xiaomi do this weird thing where you have to wait 2 weeks for bootloader unlock. The only company consistent with this is Google and OnePlus, so the Pixel 4 XL and OnePlus 7T are the only phones I'd consider.

I have a Samsung S9+ and Pixel 3XL. The Samsung S9+ boot loops all the time with custom kernels, needs different weird hacks to keep root access. The Pixel 3XL and my OnePlus 6 before it (which I dropped sadly) both just work and the software is so much better.

Most people don't care about the benefits of a Pixel and that's fine, it's not really a phone that's marketed and/or designed to be a mass market run-of-the-mill phone. The Pixel lineup was never popular and it's a testing ground for Google more than anything. It's a niche phone and the sales numbers reflect that.

        • My Pixel 4 (small version) lasts all day with 45% remaining 2hrs screen on, just force 90Hz and works a charm, 4K60 I would never use as it would consume a ridiculous amount of memory and you can't share it anyway, just get the black one with gorilla glass on the back and done no bend issues.

        • +2

This is the hallmark "Google Experience" (from hardware, features point of view).

From software Point of view, Pixel has the best experience out of any Android phone to date (except for software bugs). Samsung is lag, lag and then some more lag. Pixel 2XL, a 2yr phone is lightening fast even when compared to the latest Samsung Note 10 Plus! I've compared them side-by-side. So, when it comes to phones (just like anything in our lives), it's always a compromise.

          I'm a Samsung S8+ & Pixel 2 XL owner.

          • @vrsac: @vrsac: My note 9 has been good with no lag up until a month ago. Been more and more laggy lately and I don't know why.

My guess is that it's the updates.

MKBD awarded this phone the winner of bust of the year of 2019.

Purchased this deal back way back on the Black Friday sales this year. Can confirm this is 100% Australian stock with 2 years warranty and a amazing step up from the pixel 2 Xl. Cheers for the great price and phone.

    • +1

Worth mentioning that phones not purchased direct from Google do not qualify for advanced replacement. If needing to be replaced under warranty, Google will send a replacement once they have received your faulty device.

  • +4

Worth mentioning that replacement phones from Google are refurbished. It may take a few replacements to get a good one.

  • Hi store rep.. how come you are giving 24 months warranty when google store itself says one year warranty ?

    • +2

Google AU store gives 2 years as well. I think it's an Australian phone thing.

    • Flagship phones have 24 months manufacturer warranty.

  • the biggest flop of 2019
