  • This or Samsung Q75 55 inch for 1499?

    • +8

well OLED is OLED and QLed is just another fancy term of Led that Samsung's marketing department advertises to be as good as OLED

      • +10

No QLED is just standard LCD/LED technology with improved contrast and blacks

        TLDR Get the OLED

    • -6

Neither. Get a LG C9 for around ~$1500-$1800 on sale?

      • +15

LG C9 for $1500? Good joke.

        • +2

Wasn't sure on the lowest price, thus the range.

          Here it is for $1,712:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/496766

Seriously if you are talking about a $300 price difference between the Hisense OLED and the Q75, just spring the extra $200 for a massive bump up in quality.

    • +1

I'd go for the Samsung, but i value the longevity of LED and this is better for sports. The Q75 has decent blacks, not as good as OLED, check YouTube reviews comparing a q75 with an oled

  • "Hisense Series X"
    made for
    "Xbox Series X" ??

  • +2

Reviewers say it doesn't handle quick motion very well. Is this a problem with OLED technology or this particular TV model?

    • +7

      this model

    • And the screen saver they use is all slow motion/ black picture in store. Definitely jittery.

    • +1

I brought one last month. And they are right, it doesn't. But so far it's not taken anything away from the experience and for me personally it was worth putting up with to save 500 bucks on the LG.

      • +2

I'm not finding any issues once i turned all the stupid processing off. Smooth motion etc sucks on this tv, but i hate that soap opera effect of fake frames introduced anyway.. always turn it off on any tv i own

    • -1

      this brand

  • Please fix title. Model is 55PX.

    • fixed - thanks =D

      • Not quite.

  • Was this the one that turns itself off every so often deliberately? Or a previous model?

Can recall a cheaper OLED doing something stupid…

    • +3

That was the Kogan one I think.

  • soooo did anyone manage to get the LG sm8600 for $1200?

  • +1

Ive had one since March and its been great.

Also have had an LG oled since 2016 and a Pioneer Kuro before that.

For $1200 you cant go wrong.

  • Same price at Betta if anyone has a preference for them.

  • Bought one last week for 1650 after our 50N7 died and we received store credit to replace. JB were happy to give the difference back today in store credit.

Excellent TV, loving it at home. Just needs to be set up well. After turning off all the extra processing options and going through the Xbox screen calibration app it looks epic. It handles fast motion totally fine.

    • I saw a demo and the weird artifacts on any fast motion turned me off buying it. Did you notice a significant difference after calibration?

      • Turning off the smooth motion, judder / blur correction, noise reduction etc made a huge difference. My biggest criticism of Hisense is the default settings are basically all of their software interfering - once you turn it off, the TV is great. It's still an LG panel, just gotta spend 5 mins turning the junk off.

Gave it a test drive with The Last Jedi and it looked fantastic, and playing games has been great. I'm sure side by side to the latest LG it doesn't compare, but it's an OLED in my lounge and im loving it

        • Does turning off smooth motion help in the same way for Hisense r6/7/8 models?

      • Yeah the artifacts are a result of absolutely useless judder reduction etc. Thankfully i hate all those effects (even when they work as they should) and once you turn them off its perfect in fast Action scenes etc. If you like the additional processing and the soap opera effect then dont get this tv!

        • can you comment on 1080p to 4k upscaling?? and is there any lag in menu? any issues with burn in??
does it have 5ghz wifi and bluetooth?

          • +2

@striker5950: 1080p looks good, FTA looks horrible but that applies to all big TVs. The menu isn't particularly snappy but it's not awful - the tv guide is good and dedicated Netflix / YT / Media buttons on the remote are great. Can't comment on burn in but the general vibe online is that burn in is no longer an issue for current oleds. No BT afaik

For those interested, Good Guys managed to better the JB Hi Fi. We managed to get it for $1,110 for the Hisense 55PX. If you need copy of receipt PM me.

    • damn well ru7100 ($950-985) vs this for $160 dollars more?
      65 vs 55
      led vs oled
tizen vs what ever hisense runs
old remote vs probably better remote
probably more reliable vs idk how reliable hisense OLED is

can anyone comment on ru7100 vs this for the processor and menu speed. 4k upscaling, hrd or hrd10+ support??

      • To make mention on reliability - my Hisense 50N7 died after 18 months, however the Hisense service was unreal. My call was answered locally and quickly and we had a new TV in a week with multiple updates along the way.

        • damn, so 24 months warranty covered it?

          • @striker5950: 3 years warranty - just had to send through some photos and video of the issue. They organised a replacement unit, it got shipped to a 3rd party to install it but they couldn't make it out till mid Jan. I called Hisense and let them know, so they organised store credit on return to the store we purchased, was there the next day.

            • @Skollapse: well 3 years is good, but if it happens in the 4th year lol ur sheit out of luck, i bought my last tv in 2012 lg led 3d full hd lol so this would be an upgrade but at the same time what im trying to say is i would keep it over 3 years so thats a risk.. also im reading comments about crappy motion blur which is putting me off. as much as i hate the low spec Samsung ru7100 like no bluetooth, it really does give out some cool features at that price range backed up with quality

    • +3

For those interested copy of receipt. Purchased 26/12/19 at Maribyrnong 3032 (Victoria)

  • Anyone confirm how slim this one is once mounted on a wall?

    • Can't comment as mine is on a swingout arm. Its scary thin though, you can't move it by holding the panel, you have to hold the thick part down the bottom

  • This a better bang for buck than the LG B9 for about double?

  • -1

Would this be a good computer monitor?

    • -1

Have been using mine as a pc monitor for 9 months.

      • How long do you use it per day? any burn -ins from the taskbar on the bottom? Could you turn your screen in red color to test? as per rting test it could be somewhat noticeable after 40 weeks and very noticeable after 90. you are almost 40 weeks thru

        • No burn in from task bar and it probably gets used between 4 to 6 hours a day.

Will do the red test today.

          • @Noddy Doldrums: thanks mate. please see if you see any clouds below of the screen i read or in purple

  • Just saw it in store in JB Perth CBD, $1195. Build quality looks OK.

  • +1

I have the 65" version and the tv is great, use it mostly for netflix and movies. Picture quality is amazing, dont do much gaming. It is very thin and light for a 65" tv.

Only issue I have is that the hisense os is trash, youtube and netflix work fine but it doesn't have many other apps. Might be worth picking up an nvdia shield/roku or similar.

    • +1

Agreed. I have the 65" as well.
The picture quality is amazing. I use it with Xbox One X and PS4 PRO and Xiaomi Mi Box S.

With little changes on the picture setting (smooth motion, blur off etc.) 4K and HDR content looks amazing. However, 1080P or lower resolution picture does not look at good as the upscale is not too good.

      • so the upscaling is not so good as you say? have you had experience with Samsung up-scaling in comparison?

        • Sorry, I have not had personal experience of using Samsung to compare. Looking at reviews of Sony A9G or LG C9 it seems that they do a lot better job at upscaling.

All I can is this - you can definitely tell when lower a lower resolution content is played. As loses a lot of sharpness.

Maybe a take normal Blu-Ray to JB and request the salesperson to play it for you and you will see what I mean. Hope this helps.

      • how long do you play per day? How long do you have it for? any burns in if you turn red color in the screen?

        • +1

I have an 18-month-old baby girl so obviously do not get to play every single day. I have played up-to 3-4 hours of the same game and no burn-in so far.

What does happen though is if you stay on the same screen for too long (say pause menu) oh PS4/Xbox home screen and then started playing again, you will ghosting of the previous image for few seconds and then it will go away.

The TV has some preventative measures to stop burn-ins. When you are using any of the building in apps like Netflix/Youtube and pause any contents within in 30 secs it will turn on the screen saver and also when it is in stand by mode it does some preventative things as well (the power led blinks when this happens.) The user manual recommends not to unplug or completely turn off the TV during this time.

On top of that what I have done is set up a timer of 2 hours on my AV Receiver. So, In case I left the same image on the TV for too long it turns it the source image off and saves me from screen burn-ins.

  • I was able to get them down to $1120. Also quoted $565 for the 5.1.2 Hisense Atmos which I nearly purchased as well.

  • Walked into The Good Guys Tingalpa and told them about the VideoPro price on eBay. They sold me the 55PX for $1015. :)

    • Could you share the receipt, that's a great price. does it include shipping?

No shipping — I managed to fit it in the back of a CX-5 even tho you aren't supposed to ship TVs flat.

    • receipt plz? didnt they argue the added shipping??

      • Tingalpa is 15 minutes away from the VideoPro pickup location so maybe not.

        • idk how well that will work in nsw, its like the longer you wait the lower the prices get lol, lets see if he uploads the receipt

      • +1
        • thanks mate, have you turned it on yet? let us know how it is

          • @striker5950: Already got a 65PX a month or so ago — I'm hoping it's going to be similar quality.

Software mildly sucks, but once you turn off the video processing junk off and game mode on, it's perfect for Netflix/YouTube, Switch gaming and as an external monitor for work. Fairly reflective, but in a dim loungeroom I don't notice the reflections much, and the OLED is incredible.

            • @voidboi: yeh i kind of want it for Netflix/movies/tv so for netflix does it supports hdr or hdr10+ or dolby?
and what do you think about its up-scaling capabilities from say 720p to 4k

              • @striker5950: Stuck on a shitty 12/1 ADSL until next year, and HDR isn't supported under macOS, so unsure about HDR 4k Netflix. Haven't tried playing any 720p content natively on the TV either, all upscaling is done via my Mac and it all looks pretty good.

                • @voidboi: oh i see so you have not tried the native netflix app

                • +1

@voidboi: Hey Void, I bought one off the videopro deal but 50/50 about picking it up. How did it compare to the LG/Pana models instore? I went to have a look but it was hard to tell as they were apart and playing different demo discs lol.

                  • @maybeamacy: I'm sure it's not as good as the more expensive ones, but to my eyes I couldn't tell that much of a difference since they weren't right next to each other and playing different content

The difference between QLED/LED and OLED is night and day to me, though.

  • Bought them at JBHIFi price matched to $1100. Does anyone know what the firmware situation with this TV is?

    • Confirm that the latest firmware installed. Bought on boxing day

      • The one I got had a firmware update when I got it home. Remember that installing that latest firmware turns off the fastboot. To toggle that, settings -> highlight balance (at 0) and key in 1-9-6-9, then it's under the Design tab.
