  • can it be rebranded ? or unlocked ?

    • Network Lock Unlocked

So according to the ebay info on the posting, it's not locked to a carrier

      • But from my previous experience with optus branded oppo they are missing few band if you use other carriers

  • Any reviews from OzB? Thanks

    • +3

Wouldn't you just search YouTube for better, more in-depth and somewhat independent reviews?

I had one for about 2 weeks, what do you want to know?

      • +1

some general feedback, pros, and cons would be nice.

        • +15

Well it is a great mid-range phone, decent performance, not much lag for general use. The biggest draw card for me at the time was the 1080p AMOLED. 6GB RAM, Hardware was overall pretty good for the price.

Software was where I didn't like it. ColorOS felt too skinned, it's primary colour was white and at the time absolutely no dark mode which was what I wanted especially on an AMOLED screen. This is a pretty good price IMO.

Please don't take my word, https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.gsmarena.com/oppo_r15_pro-amp…

@baldur: Oh I will add it was a great looking phone, felt premium and very…pretty and charging was super fast.

Would be a great backup or for mums and dads that doesn't care about branding.

          • @hippo2s: Thank you!

          • @hippo2s: I found amoled with true black wallpaper and dark mode really make a difference to battery life compare to ips lcd etc.

            • @Jammar: That's why I got rid of it when I learned that ColorOS was going sticking to white base colour. Completely happy on a K20 Pro now.

          • @hippo2s: Why not just use Nova Launcher FFS!?

      • +10

No, I like comments from real users rather than some pro who reviews things for a living..

        • +1

No problems, I am the other way around ;)

The expectations from everyday users tends to be at opposite extremes. Are either easily satisfied or nick picky about stuff thats irrelevant small stuff.

Anonymous users are definitely the best source of information for your future purchase. Nobody on the internet ever lies.

      • good to mention the nes you thing are better sites or subsites. hard to tell who is best

I have a R15 which I've had for a year. It came with ColorOS 5 and cost about $550. Hands down the worst phone I've ever owned. I'll never buy another thing from jb hi fi or oppo because of it.

However, for $300, an upgraded model, and ColorOS 6 this would be an ok deal.

Why they keep pushing their os fork is beyond me. My Galaxy S6 ran circles around oppo's latest offering.

      • +3

Had mine since launch. Default interface is rubbish. Installed Microsoft launcher and it fixed most my problems.
Not the best phone but good value for price. Not a flagship competition by any measure.
What frustrates me most is that it kills apps in the background even if I Mark them not to be killed.
Next phone won't be an oppo, mi, or similar brands.

      • +1

What did you not like about it? I was pretty happy with mine except the white colour ColorOS!

Pretty extreme to call it as the worst phone ever…donno how old you are, but I felt it was certainly better than anything pre GS8, except it looks heaps better and charging speed is out of this world

        • Mid 30s and I've really only had 2 Samsung's prior. ColorOS 5 is such a terrible piece of kit it's amazing it made it past their qa folks.

At least a s2x's faults could be blamed on being 10 years old. Oppo has no excuse for theirs.

  • for the price, looks a good deal. bought one. its basically oneplus 6 specs with an inferior snapdragon

    • I wouldn't call 660 An inferior soc, it's just a midranger CPU. Still plenty of power to do everything one would.

Just don't play graphic intensive games and you are fine. Won't even notice the difference on day to day tasks like browsing, chking emails, …phone calls.

    This or redmi note 8t?

  • I'd buy this buy this if it didn't have micro USB port.

    • +6

      How would you charge it?

      • +2

        s/he might prefer Eneloops…

      • I'f prefer solar powered but a USB-C would do for now.

  • I don't understand how Oppo doesn't have a good UI and/or fast updates with all those cheap Chinese programmers they can take advantage of.

    • +1

chinese programmers earn about $50k- 100k USD per year in big cities. But they stay like 10-12 hours per day in office.

      • -3

All those hours goes into programming the spyware that you won't know it's there and reports your data to the motherland.

        • Lol..

        • delusion of persecution is a disease.

        • LOL, looks like lots of people (all 4 of them) took offense.

          • -2

@hippo2s: You are a stooge spreading US propaganda with no evidence.

What the evidence actually shows is the US doing what your accusing China of doing but don't let evidence get in the way of the stupid conspiracy theory.

            • +2

              @Diji1: Please see https://www.fireeye.com/blog/threat-research/2013/02/mandian…

              Otherwise, just search APT.
China is doing to western world, what US was doing to its allies, but at a much bigger scale.

There is sufficient evidence in the cyber community. Thanks.

            • @Diji1: Oh don't get me wrong, yes American phones also does the same with info going to the American big brother.

What can't be proven, doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't happen.

Just be happy with whichever phone and OS you use, certainly not saying you shouldn't buy this phone….or any other phone.

    • Because you have to pay more and buy their One Plus range instead.

I just checked the specs r.e. this phone has (particularly, what bands it uses) via the Mobileciti website, for anyone that's curious:

    2G Network: 2G/GSM, 850, 900, 1800, 1900
    3G Network: 3G/HSDPA, 850, 900, 1900, 2100
    4G Network: 4G/LTE, 2100 (B1), 1800 (B3),
    850 (B5), 2600 (B7), 900 (B8), 800 (B20), 700 (B28)

    Network Lock: Unlocked

    Network Branding: Optus

    Source: https://www.mobileciti.com.au/oppo-r15-pro-single-sim-6gb-12…

    • Is this good or bad? What bands do we need?

  • trs needs a min spend of $300. I think you need to modify

    • Ask the seller to charge you 300 inc get…? Buy a cable, case or screen protector?

  • This or the Xiaomi note 8T?

  • eBay description mention 'Hybrid SIM 2' - does this phone have a second SIM slot?

    • Hi kral,

Unfortunately not for the Optus Branded version - only unbranded version has two SIM slots - the listing has been corrected, thanks for the pickup.
