I think its better explained : Echo Dot and Eufy 3-camera set @ $579.2 .

They pissed me off with my Arlo pro 2 not being able to add the newer updated camera's to the setup so will just use it till too outdated .

I got this on the last deal. One of the cameras was faulty so Amazon are sending out a new set so I can return the old one - super easy. Cameras seem to have a good image quality, but there is quite a lag between someone entering the field of view and the recording to start, meaning I see only a second or two of the person. I've had no issues with shadows or birds triggering the camera, unlike my old Swann's which were hopeless in that respect.

    • 3 second lag?

    • True, and it's also somewhat related to the monitor mode - if you turn on facial recognition, it will take even longer to fire a notification/alarm. I turned them to alert on everything, so that response time can be shorter but by comprising on false alarms sometimes.

      • How many seconds delay do you think?

        • 2 or 3 seconds from my experience. You need to set the sensitivity quite high which will give you lots of false alarms and drain battery quicker.

Alternative is to position camera in an era which has a wide viewing angle of an area otherwise all you'll get is footage of people walking away rather towards the camera

@cute as duck: @eyzonme: I have the same problem, call tech support and they will help you to set it correctly.

            • @shivaussie: Didn't know that was an option thanks but in your experience did you see a vast improvement. How long does it take now to start recording from first movement in frame?

            • @shivaussie: hey mate. Just wondering which number you called and what you told them to get this fixed? Thanks

    • +1

hmm.. interesting to know. This seems a big fail on part of the camera primary function….
Wondering how this fares to Arlo or other models.

    • +1

Yep I have these and also experience a significant delay. A lot of my recordings show nothing and it's not because they're a false alarm, it's because the moving object has already left the field of view.

    • I have a unifi g3 camera setup for my house. For recording, it allows me to save recordings before it's detects motion as will as finish recording after the motion is detected. For my recordings are setup to record 10secs before motion is detected and recording is stopped 10secs after motion is detected.
      Eufy doesn't allow this??

      • +2

this would require camera to record 24/7 and defeat the purpose of a battery powered camera

  • How to get the price down to $543.2?
Tried to add the bundle and echo and only get to $579.2

    • $579.20 is inclusive of the dot 3? $543.20 is exclusive of the dot 3 price I guess

    • 543.20 assumed the echo stays at $36. So 543 for the cameras, plus 36 for the echo, gets $579

    • Thanks all
So need to purchase with the echo and pay $579.2 to get the discount.

      • correct.

  • I am getting $715 with echo added and 20% is not applied

    • it applies when you get through checkout and to the confirmation page.

  • anyone know how to tell the difference between Gen1 and Gen2….i understand Gen2 has HomeKit functionality whereas Gen1 does not.

    • Gen 2 base station is slimmer than gen 1

      • So is this the slimmer one and a gen 2 then? The descriptions against that model number just say "eufy HomeBase"

        • Think I just found the answer.
Am I correct in that the EufyCam 2 just came out a couple of weeks ago…
          https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1116368506/evercam-the-…

So these are all the old version now???

          • @steve54321: looking at the pictures, this deal appears to be for the Gen1….Probably trying to clear stock….still a good deal, but I will wait for Gen2

            • @barthez: This feature of the Gen2 is what I've been waiting for…
"Repeater mode for increased signal range"

The Arlo Ultra apparently lets you hop onto your home mesh wifi and why it was winning. But if the Eufy Gen2 has something to resolve the wifi range issues, then I'm swinging back over to their side.

              • @steve54321: have not heard that eufy will be able to make use of mesh wifi for better range

            • @barthez: Are you sure? The gen 2 improves to 365 day battery life over 6 months correct? The amazon pictures show 365 day battery life for this deal.

              • @Toretto: I beleive the Cam E has 6 months battery life, whereas the Eufy Cam went to 365 days. I think the Eufy Cam is getting an update, and it comes with HomeBase 2

From the pictures shown, it looks like homebase1

                • @barthez: Ah I see… Agree. Looked at the youtube video linked below and this does look like the gen 1 version.

                  • @Toretto: It is definitely gen 1. Don't worry about it

          • @steve54321: Eufy Australia (Anker) recently told me currently no plans to sell eufycam 2 in Aust directly ….. So I got the 2c model

This guy reviewed all models and did a comparison pdf

      https://youtu.be/PKJQrTG4dsk

  • I had to request for support to activate geofencing

It's still a bit hit or miss in beta

Anyone got these working on Google home hubs? I get a error when trying to view them but the accounts are linked

  • I bought 2 sets of the 2 camera set ( was cheaper at the time).
You can have 2 homebases registered to the account but I have not yet worked out if you can integrate them
ie - the cameras have to be registered to a specific home base and when the alarm is triggered - only that home base will fire off an alarm (does not give you the option of setting off both homebases)

was hoping this could be used to improve signal - but alas not….

    • Did you try the support? They were quite responsive

      • have not contacted them - trying to do live chat and they are not there - will send them an email and see where we get

    • Have read on their forums before that integrating two homebases isn't possible.

      • kinda silly - I hope they fix this on a future update.
having 2 bases means I have good signal from base to camera both at front and back of house - just when alarm is triggered - would be nice if they both go off.
That's not too much to ask is it??

      • Tech support AU told me that another HB v2 can be used to extend range

  • How well would this work for a large house? I keep reading that range is a concern.

    • Depends on the construction of the home and how that affects 2.4ghz propagation

      • So the homebase uses 2.4ghz?

        • Router to homebase is 2.4, but then HB to cameras is something else tech support told me coz I was wondering if cameras could receive 5 GHz (my 2.4 band is rammed and tonnes of interference). My 2Cs seem to work ok which have HB2 (HomeKit compatible). Range can be improved by buying a second HB… but they said not avail for purchase in Aus at the mo.

  • I have also noticed the recording is delayed!
Anyone knows if the latest Arlo ultra has this issue?

    • Someone above said to contact support and they will help set it up

I think I read somewhere that if you login to watch the camera (eg after getting a notification) that it would stop recording onto the card - is that true? As that would defeat the purpose of me getting one

    • Yeh I was tossing up Eufy 2c vs the ultra…. my bro in law has the ultra and also gets startup delay…. And can’t do zones unless AC connected! Plus some other cons…. price the main one! He set up my eufys and was impressed how much easier eufys were and things just worked.

  • I've noticed the 2 camera + Home base kit at an OK price at JB and OfficeWorks - $499 (normally $649)
Both shops have the additional camera t $239 (normally $299)

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/eufy-wire-free-hd-securit…
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/eufy-2-cam…

    • +2

Normally would be a good price but for 3 cameras Amazon beats their prices by almost $200 enough for you almost to get a 4th camera for same price as 2 cameras + additional camera at JB or OW

  • This is gen 1, don't worry about it. I am waiting for gen 2 which was released recently.

    • +2

I got the 2c model, locally available…. cheaper than gen 1 too and to me had some good pros to weigh up… see https://lifehackster.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/eufyCam-…

      • Does 2c have facial recognition. Also fyi homebase 2 is less speced from what I'm reading, no removable sd card (restricted 16gb) and no backup battery on base.

        • Detection yes, recognition no. See linked table above. Also expandable memory meant to be coming….?

Yep no batt backup but i figure you’d need a UPS anyway for router ….

          • @gazer: How about the lag comparing to gen 1?

            • +1

@n2h: Sorry don’t have gen 1 so can’t comment. But I think camera positioning and selected sensitivity also relevant…. I read best distance is in direct line straight out from the camera - so combine that with max sensitivity you can achieve without too many false alarms and you’ll minimise detection delay/lag
