Only $756 was actually on groceries.
$110 was on Opal Recharge

$222 was on alcohol which I didn't buy for myself.
That is only with one card. Some people have 2 cards and can earn a lot more.

@dddddog: i had an offer if I spend $90 in one shop I get 2000 points and mobile recharge qualified for the offer. Sometimes there might be even 2 offers running at the same time. That was the case for me i got 3500 points for each of the $135 boost recharge. These offers are targeted though and you need to activate them.

Depends on how you redeem velocity points really (domestic/international, upgrading, flying expensive domestic route for example).
Mainly domestic flights. But for me I can fly jetstar or tiger and use the flybuys for grocery instead
