Made in where? may i ask.

    •

"Packed in china from imported ingredients". Same brand food items were from USA, Sri Lanka, Scotland, also packed in china.

Funny that you mentioned this. Jim Beam is bottled in Australia, using imported ingredients. Sounds like made in Australia.

Seems half of KFC ingredients are in there

    • +4 votes

Well, there are 15 spices in this set…

You never know, you might be the next Colonel? :p

    • +10 votes

There's really only one spice that gives KFC its flavour, a shit-ton of MSG.

      • +2 votes

I'm probably going to neg'd to hell and back for this, but:
have you ever ACTUALLY tasted MSG? KFC does not taste anything like it. I acknowledge that KFC DOES contain MSG, but, that's not the main flavour.
Glutamic acid is a NATURALLY occurring, non-essential, amino acid and is found it bucket loads of fresh foods, including meat, vegetables and fruits.

        • +1 vote

MSG has no flavour in itself. That's why it's called a flavour enhancer. It works with the flavours that are there. While there is naturally occurring glutematic acid. MSG is a non natural form of UNBOUND glutamic acid. And for the record, in all the fast food restaurants on America (which is more than in Oz) KFC has the HIGHEST levels of unbound glutamic acid (MSG) of all of them. That's why it tastes soooooo good. Eat a piece of chicken with no flavourings and it sure aint a pinch of that KFC flavour.

        •

Yes I have "ACTUALLY" tasted MSG in its pure form, and you would have to have your taste buds in your arse to think KFC doesn't taste almost exactly the same.

      Refer to comment above…

      •

The store I'm closest to at the moment is limited stock and can't select store pickup.
Might just pop in before work tomorrow and see if there's any left :)

My GF just arrived home with several of these (we already have a spice draw absolutely jam packed with spices/jars) >_<

Your GF must be the one to… (Refer to above comments…)?

Edit: The store that went from In Stock to Low Stock was Melbourne, VIC…

So your GF must've just returned from Melbourne in the past… 36mins…? :p

          •

@T-Quizzle: Myeah, I can't believe my thoughtful and relatively 'vanilla' advice was censored out of the dialogue by Big Brother… It's not as though I suggested the old 'alley-oop starfish' manoeuvre (which I am told is an 'offensive play' in some circles; mainly circles of basketballers), or arguably questionable shenanigans such as moves like the 'chocolate pretzel double-dip' or 'Niagara Falls meets the Grand Canyon'… I suppose it was just a matter of time before over-zealous political correctness began to systematically thwart OzBers' legitimate attempts to assist each other via frank dialogue/informed suggestions. Sigh.

I have found the quality in the cork tops lacking in these sets from Kmart/Target. After about a 18 months they start disintegrating. Make sure you keep away from direct sunlight.

Melbourne target has sold out. I went there and found nothing.

Target Waverley Garden and Dandenong sold out. Knox has 2 but was put on hold for some lucky ozbargainer

Was close to Greensborough so dropped in to get one: Broden got here first. None left.

    •

Wow. There was a million there yesterday, but that was before this deal was posted.

The hamper aisles were packed with people picking stuff off and going to the scanner to check prices. Some lady had her trolley packed, two rows high with hampers, could barely see where she was going.

  • +1 vote

10 or so left on the shelves at Burwood. I grabbed 3.

Weird because when I called, the lady I spoke to put aside 2 for me. My friend then called and the same lady said there were none. She said she you heaps of calls after I called.

It's all in the ex Christmas stuff clearance section.

    •

Can confirm this as I went to Burwood at 8:30AM today. Should also note that the spice racks are located in the back of Burwood's Target, where the xmas stuff is. But also they are in two separate aisles. I counted 10 on one shelf and at least 5 on the other. But then again, since the morning, I'm sure there'd be fewer left. Also nabbed The Fabulous Food Company's 12 jars Preserves collection for only $5, found it misplaced on the shelves in the same xmas clearance section. Worth looking carefully as you might come across great deals.
