Bought this drive from JB the other day and this popped up in my Amazon app today. Can't pass up the $40 saving so I'll buy it and return the JB one since I haven't used it.

Back in stock 12 January.

Nah I'm waiting for 10TBs to drop to this price so I can get 4 of them for a NAS.

      • I dont think they are going to drop under 280 any time soon

        • I think I've seen some deals on here for 250. but yeah they are uncommon.

        • I bought the 10TB Seagate expansion drive for around $260 last month. Shucked it to get a Barracuda Pro.

        • They were 290 with 12 % cashback on Boxing Day. Shopback are still calculating the cashback now. Hopefully it all goes through without my having to chash them up.

      • Same

3TB left in the array. Perfect timing thanks op

  • Is this one shuckable?

    • +2

yes may need to do the 3.3.v mod very easy with a bit of tape

      • +1

Works fine in a Synology NAS though.
But random PC's you may have to, super easy to shuck. I received my drive last week, was WD80EMAZ

        • If you don't mind, do you have the full model number? Just curious whether it was a helium or air drive.

      • +1

Also works in QNAP without mod. Got the WD80EMAZ as well

      • Will work fine in any NAS that uses a SATA power plug without 3.3V.

      • Have you got a link to do this? Had a quick look around and there were a few different posts but none that really showed the same thing

    • So easy mine was already kinda shucked when it arrived. The drive wasn't firmly in place and as I was getting the drive out of the box I could pull the white labelled drive out. I got a WD80EMAZ as well. So far so good. I haven't fully tested the drive yet though as I wasn't planning on shucking this one just yet.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered two for my Synology.

Bang just ordered one.. that's my Christmas present done haha

At the risk of more negs, why the neg exactly for this comment?

Not quite sure how buying the deal for myself for my late Christmas present could possibly be controversial, but you never know around here anymore..

      • +3

        Who cares? They don't matter.

        • -1

well the two negs are now gone, so who knows

      • +3

gave you an upvote as an extra chrissy present

  • Got this one for $205ish on Black Friday, so this is a good deal

  • This was around $190ish on Christmas/BF) with the 12% Amazon shopback offer.

  • Ordered a 10tb last week but probably should have waited and got 2 of these

  • I jumped one of these deals earlier. Unfortunately, I neglected to think that it would need a power/travel adapter to convert from US to AUS power connection type. Personally, I prefer to minimise the number of non-AU devices around my house as I find it a little annoying how it clutters the power point. But, apart from that this is a great deal! So just keep this in mind if you are thinking of purchasing.

You can register your drive with WD and request a new AU power supply. Just provide your proof of purchase etc. Took 2-3 weeks for me to receive once logged.

      • Oh that's great info! Thanks for that! Will do!

  • Pulled the trigger on two. Thanks for this. Have been needing more drive space.

    • Just wondering how?

  • What sort of AU power supply is needed for this?

    • +1

Just a plug adapter. Or see the post above

    • My experience is that WD drives are supplied with multiple plug adapters for US, UK and AU sockets.

      • +1

Totally agree that they should. But, unfortunately not this one. I can, however, attest to the advice from @toxiccity11 above. I just contacted WD support for an AU power supply and they responded almost immediately for details where to send it! Very impressed! If they're going to be this generous, they should really save themselves money and just issue power supplies with different power adaptors for all locales.

  • $26 per TB for this
$29 per TB for the 10TB Version

Looks like meat is back on the menu boys.

  • Back up to $222

  • Mine arrived, WD80EMAZ-00WJTA0 (Helium) drive inside.

  • Thanks Fastway for losing my 8tb drive. Someone just got a nice present.

    • I havent got mine yet either, how did you find out?
