      • Is the full Cashback likely to be honoured though? This is the first time I've used Shopback.
        I feel like I'm stuck in Limbo of it being a decent deal with the $98.34 cashback, but not that good a deal with no cashback.

        • I have always tried to see cashback/shopback as a bit of a bonus. If you are relying on it to get the deal over the line for you, then the deal is probably not for you.

    • The cashback was tracked almost immediately for me.

    • Mine didn’t track as well and I even report this to ShopBack but they said this:

  • Thanks, was going to buy this yesterday so saving another 100 today is a sweet deal. Considering i was in jb hi fi when the envy was $850 plus it happened to be a one day wicked wednesday deal which took off another 5% so could have got it for $800….. i didnt buy it so this makes me feel better getting a good deal!

        • Mine arrived today.
          Screen seemed a bit dim during set up but once I got into windows it seemed to be ok. Was similar to my Elitebook G3 1030 at about 70% brightness.

          Build quality is pretty good and this will be perfect for my wife's light browsing and video watching once the kids are in bed.

          If anyone is looking for a decent spec laptop for their kids in high school without breaking the bank I think that this fits the bill perfectly.

    First time taking up an ozbargain deal! Actually ordered this laptop with Cashrewards yesterday and then saw the post about Shopback 12% a few hours later of course lol! It's also my first time using any of these cashback things so rang up HP this morning, cancelled my first order and re-ordered with Shopback, fingers crossed there's no hassles getting the 12%, works out to be an excellent deal as I'm going overseas soon so can also claim the GST refund at the airport.

    • Same as yours. I think most laptops you can only press the bottom half of the trackpad.

Had I known this was going to happen I would have gone for the Acer laptop deal from Harvey Norman/Officeworks, which, of course is now no longer available. Grrrrr.

      Same, quite annoyed and will call HP tomorrow morning.

      There's enough of us affected to file a consumer complaint against HP. Retailers can't just unilaterally decide to dishonour an advertised offer, particularly as you say the item is still in stock.

      They're trying to play the blame game with me saying that the credit card details were incorrect, yet the payment has been deducted from my credit card.
      Then they said they would be able to process it through direct deposit but the 10% discount would not be applicable.
      Sounds like they are trying to get out of the extra discount.

        Still waiting for Toll to show details, but it's looking hopeful so far

  • Just an update for you all, my first laptop that i cancelled (so I could re-order with the better shopback deal) ended up turning up anyway in about 2 days. When I cancelled the order they said it wouldn't be shipped out but if it did, they advised that I reject the delivery and it would be returned to sender for refund. So when the courier knocked on the door I explained the situation and they said they'd take it back to HP. I was thinking I'd get my 2nd order in about the same time frame but since Tuesday the 7th last week it's been stuck on processing and now the order has completely disappeared when I log in. (Did this happen to anyone else or did it actually say cancelled?)

    I rang HP again and they said it is still processing and the order disappeared because their system is updating but I don't trust their advice given that they said I had cancelled with enough time for the first laptop and the laptop wouldn't even leave the warehouse yet it turned up at my house. Now I have to wait for the first one to be returned to get my refund (which could take 14 days) and I'm out of pocket for the 2nd computer that's been processing for a week. Apparently I will be sent a tracking number for this 2nd laptop but I am not hopeful at this stage - will keep you updated, very disappointing and unfair if they don't come through especially given other people received their laptops.

      They offered that I could buy the laptop for $799 as the 10% promo had ended or they'd refund me within 4 days. I've decided on the refund.

      • So strange. I think HP are useless - they aren't replying to emails, not apologizing for the inconvenience and time wasted. Spent two hours in a chat yesterday with a guy who gave me his colleague's email address who would "work hard on reinstating my order". I emailed the colleague during the live chat, and said I would prefer to keep the live chat open until the order has been sorted. He promptly closed the chat. Haha. And of course I have had no reply from his colleague.

        Weirdly, the 10% code still works on their website, so I might just order again. Thanks to their "system error" the laptop will be $90 more expensive as the good 12% cashback offer has ended. Oh well. :(

    • good news, I received the 2nd laptop today (estimated delivery was the 16th), i must have been very lucky with the person helping me at the call centre. set it up and so far so good, very quick and quiet, haven't had a laptop for a while so just a bit concerned about it getting too hot so will prob purchase a cooling pad.

      now i've just got to sort out the refund for the first one, got an email today saying they're still waiting for it at the warehouse even though it was returned to sender a week ago doh, hopefully not too much more hassle and it's sorted before my credit card bill comes in!

    • Saw that as well today and ordered to replace my 4.5 year old Dell XPS 13 i5 with 4GB Ram and 128GB SSD that I paid $1,200 for at the time. Never mind the fact that I hardly use the XPS since my HP EliteBook from work is a real workhorse.

    Strongly considering it because my current one is a 7 year old brick and I already have a desktop for gaming ect.

    But losing that bit of screen size makes me a little nervous.

    So maybe I should wait for an E595 deal

    • It depends on what you want I suppose

      I value portability quite a bit and find that 13/14 inch is the perfect size to slide into you backpack or briefcase.

      15.6 becomes a bit cumbersome, but you can never too much screen space on a laptop when you're actually using it

      • That is true about the usage. I do want it for uni so being slightly smaller is nice. Although either size should fit in my backpack.

        I do like the metal over the plastic as well, so I'm leaning more so towards this one.

        I've used smaller laptops before, but only for a few hours so I'm not 100% sure if the tradeoff is worth it.

        I suppose I could always return it if I don't like it…

  • Hi, I ordered this laptop and received it 2 weeks ago. I've only used it a couple of times, but when I do use it, it tends to get very hot after a short period of time and you can also hear the fan. Even when I'm charging the laptop, it tends to get very warm. Did this happen with anyone else??? PLEASE HELP!!!

      That's pretty normal with high performance small laptops, they get hot… So the fan ramps up. It also depends on how the laptop is tuned, some vendors just allow their laptop to get very warm to keep the noise down at the cost of performance (although sometimes not technically throttling, but they will certainly boost much less).

      All fans are loud when at load. If it bothers you that much, then cap your computers performance. There are a few ways you can do that, put it on power saver, disable turbo boost, limit maximum processor state. Some laptops also have performance profiles optimised for quiet, performance etc.

      Sometimes vendors tune their laptop so that once you plug your laptop in, they are allowed to boost even higher heating it up even faster.

      You could also just get a bigger laptop

      • Thanks Butt. Yep I get all that in regards to smaller lappies and have had my share. I am just keen to know about this specific model as each varies in throttling, heat dissipation and also fan noise. Anyway my order has already shipped so I can try it and ship it back free of charge if it dissapoints (according to HP).

          Thinking about it now, i think the guy's laptop was probably updating. So it looks like the laptop is doing nothing but heating up for no reason.

          W10 updates are surprisingly demanding nowadays

    I ordered this laptop on 3rd Jan, live in Western suburbs of Sydney and am still waiting delivery. There was nothing on the website that said they don’t deliver to parcel lockers. This has been sitting at Toll’s Eastern Creek depot since 7th Jan. HP are being unhelpful as they state they have changed the address but Toll are stating they haven’t. I go back to HP they state they changed the address on the 20th but really they were asked to change it on the 13th.

    This has been a most unpleasant experience and I haven’t even received the product yet. Never again will I buy from HP!

    • I ordered 3 over the past week and received the first one within a couple of days. Expecting another one to be delivered today.

    • I had a similar experience with HP and the item not being tracked/delivered. Laptop ended up being transferred between TOLL Depots then finally they lost laptop. I escalated as much as I could within HP but they were the worst to deal with. I've cancelled my order and waiting for them to send me the money back.

      Also, ShopBack cashback didnt work for me.
