                  @toobzy: Yes it's better to buy the $100 card and get a 5% discount after paying the fee. I do not understand why they have this fee all the other physical GC do not. I would purchase a lot more of these other than for this and the limit of one per account.

                  @toobzy: If you're getting the $5 fee back in the equivalent amount in points, it's misleading to frame it as a 5% or 10% fee because you always get back the 5% or 10% reimbursed, so it's actually a 0% fee either way.

                  (Obviously assuming you're valuing the 1000 points as $5 cash to keep it simple.)

                  So just get the card value that you need. Personally I prefer to have the smaller value as I just use these cards to sign up for streaming subscriptions or prepaid sim cards.

        good for making new accounts with some apps that take credit, or using them to sign up to subscription websites so they cant deduct all your money. i accidentally signed up to kogan first for a year. its $100!

          These cards won't be accepted at 90% of the sites you need a subscription for. It detects as a prepaid card.

          I only buy these when they are 2000 points for $100. And only use Coles gift cards to purchase. That results in a 9% discount, after the fee, I think. I use them for paying medical bills and allied health providers who often do not accept Amex. This way I in effect use Amex and get a discount. I also pay my gas bill at the Post Office for Tango who do not accept Amex not even through Post Billpay. Many people do not know how to use them but you just swipe, select credit and enter pin. If I could get enough I would use them to shop at Coles as usually I can only access 4% off GC at Suncorp.

              @Craze: It has been reported on here by several people that you cannot at Woolwoths. It has also reported by many that you can at Coles. In my experience the system allows it at Coles but some operators refuse. There is one store in my area that will not do it but in another they will. Sometimes they tell me it will not work but when they try it does. In the self check out it has been reported you must use a GC that covers the full amount and this I have done. The supervisor has to come to verify and she had no problem. I try to pick a young, usually a student, casual who do not know better or do not care.

      Wrong. In some checkouts, I can use discounted gift cards to pay for these and then get free trial month of netflix. I will buy 3-4 cards for sure using different flybuys accounts.

        Do you know how to make a split payment using self-serve? Is the method, not to select split payment? I know the method for the old system was to insert coins without selecting any payment options first.

    I tried using a $20 Visa prepaid card for new Uber account, but the card type wasn't accepted as a form of payment. Any experience whether this would have the same result?

      My personal experience, uber rejects all prepaid cards.

      I cant even register a new uber or uber eat account on my new phone, with a new number. Maybe they cross check with my google account??

      You can use Amex to buy these and use them at places that do not accept Amex but take Mastercard. Can also be useful to get 3x points as with some Amex cards.

        Good for dodgy websites, stopping kids borrowing your phone/games console and maxing out your credit card , stopping recurring payments on streaming sites/mobile phones, also if you're with a bank that gives cash back on payWave it's $1-$2 free money you you can use online.

      Assuming 5% discount

      $100 GC costs $105 = $99.75 cost = 99.75% cost for the money you get

      $50 GC costs $55 = $52.25 + $5 flybuys = $47.25 = 94.5% cost for the money you get

      Unless there is a bonus for the $100 card not listed in this deal?

            @chk: Some people have discounted gift cards that this will convert into a more useable form of currency.

            This can also be compound with credit card spend requirement for bonus, Amex offer, rewards point and other incentives to make this worthwhile.

          Well Sparkie, it is a deal IMO….most of the “ozbargain bright sparks” will only pay $99.75 for the $100 card and get around 95 frequent flyer points as well as $5.50 in additional flybuys points…..bringing cost down to around $93.50.

        I have Coles Contents Insurance, and the premium was the cheapest, this gives me 2 x Flybuys points. I dont have any credit cards, just Qantas Cash and Velocity Wallet which both give some points per spend, and no fees. I also have HSBC 2% cashback card
