bought this printer last time on sale- note that it does NOT have a feeder- so you can only copy or scan one page at a time- very inconvenient if you need this function

    • Thanks for that I was wondering if it had a feeder, I guess at this price you can’t expect too much, a feeder would be awesome though.

Cheap printer but how much is ink?

    • Heaps and heaps, it’s a throw away printer. Once it runs out you buy another printer

        and consideration for landfill?

        • +1

No consideration here. Apparently at OzB it's $ before ethics… I found out the hard way with the first comment on this deal. Lol!

          • +1

@dangerdanger: We should care about landfill.

            • @ti6331: Yep which is why this deal is definitely not for me… doesn't stop people negging me though ;)

          • +3

@dangerdanger: Thats not just OzB mate, its selfish human nature. Don't you self righteous people everywhere in your daily life who are happy to point out your mistakes but make exceptions for themselves or family../

          • +2

@dangerdanger: Worse than that, because its cheaper to buy an older printer and use ink from ebay. Less than $10 for a full set

            For Ozbargainers, its more like

            • Cheating the system,
            • then dollars,
            • then ethics (if they align with what you were going to do anyway, and if it doesn't cost too much)

But I imagine many like me can't be bothered with all the hassle of buying cheap printers and throwing them away, so it's not going to be a popular thing around here. Once again, laziness saves the day

            • @outlander: …he says using a device made from the ground up bones of Chinese peasants.

              • @umexcuseme: Um, excuse me. Ground up Chinese prison slave labour.

Peasants are still free men. Free men are expensive, and I'm trying to save a buck here

                • @outlander: Sounds a little ethically dubious, tbh.

                  • +1

@umexcuseme: Nah it's all good bro. The other day I put 10c in one of those plastic dogs at coles, so karma-wise it all balances out

There are cheap lasers which will get you far far more prints for less cash, and which can use generic toner for cheap. No need to worry about inks drying up either. This is Basically destined for landfill in a very short period of time. This isn’t worth it at almost any price IMO.

        • +1

          Any suggestions ?

          • @ti6331: I’ve had good luck with cheap Brother B&W lasers in the past. They’re about $80 and are absolute work horses.

        • If you're like me and only print occasionally, then a million times ^this^. I bought a b&w laser 7 years ago for like $45 after going through my 4th dried out inkjet in just a few years. The laser is still going strong today.

        • I got a HP BW laser printer (1010) long time back. The ink did dry up (or whatever the word is), which rendered the ink useless)

          • @Averell: The ink isn't wet, it's dry toner powder so it can't dry up. It might have just settled down, usually giving the toner cartridge a few whacks or vigorous shakes will loosen it up.

            Was it genuine HP toner?

            • @eug: Yes, it was from HP (I hadn't changed the toner).
Yes, "dry up" is not the right word in this case. The power stuck together and wrapped around the cylinder (I think that's called the toner). Maybe that's because the humidity was too high.

    • can buy ink and refill yourself.

Just for saving $10 I am not going to cause harm to environment…

Note this printer uses a combined colour cartridge rather than separate cartridges for each primary colour (yellow cyan, magenta). This means than when one colour in the combined colour cartridge runs out you will need to replace the cartridge - wasting the remaining ink for the other colours. I therefore avoid printers like this.
They may be cheap to buy but you'll get caught with higher running costs.

    • +1

      That's disgusting.

      • You don't have to eat it.

    • This is a cheap printer for someone with low usage, by the time the first colour runs out chances are the remaining ink will be off

    Subscribe and save :)

  • Can you run it on a black cartridge alone? I just need a cheap B&W printer.

    • I'd get a cheap mono laser instead. No dried in ink

      • Laser is three times the price and probably won't have scanner or AirPrint.

  • I am always thought laser printers caused cancer apparently I am wrong https://www.cancercouncil.com.au/86091/cancer-information/ge…

    • Why did you think that?

      • Toner is carcinogenic.
It was thought that maybe the printer would emit a non-negligent amount of these particles.

  • Does this print double sided I couldnt see it on their website.

  • Note as already said, it does NOT have a feeder so you can only copy or scan one page at a time.
Only recommended if you print from time to time, otherwise, it is a pain. Even having the option to print from your mobile is not worth the money.

I gave it away and upgraded to a cheap Epson sold at Good Guys with feeder, one ink for each color rather than one with all, and still be able to print from my mobile without a PC. What a paradise <3

    • How much was it ?

      • Right now is 139 at Bing Lee.
Feeder, WiFi, print from your mobile.

        Epson Workforce Pro WF-3725

        • Awesome thanks

  • Big W have the HP Deskjet 3632 wireless for $24.

  • If your looking for a printer, keep an eye out for brother printers, you can use cheap ink from ebay. My b/w printer costs $14 for a toner for about 2000+ pages. Never update firmware cause thats how they recognise its not a genuine cartidge and will be identified as unreadable and therefore unusable.

    • Which seller ?Any links ?

      • Personally I use yyuda, but aussie-toner is ok as well. Just type in your printer model (ie MFC-1245) and there will be a list. If in doubt always ask the seller, you might even be able to haggle

    • Nice thanks for the tip, I just replaced my toner in the laser too and updated the firmware last night, I won’t be updating g the firmware again.

  • "Price on the amazon page shows $39.20 however you get an additional 10% off if your a prime member."
    That's "you're" as in "you are"….

Lol, I didn’t think I was still in school, I might just leave it as it is.
just to be annoying. Your welcome :)

I bet you hate it when people use the wrong there their or they’re as well.
