    • Mind to share how to purchase Coles Mastercard at self checkout? Thanks!

      • Just like you make any normal purchase at a self check out machine. I do this all of the time.

      • +3

It has been reported on here by several people that you must have the full value of the Mastercard on the GC as you cannot split at the self checkout. The system stops at one stage and supervisor has to come to write down the expiry date, but with Mastercard this is not required as they are already printed so they just override the system and you can finalise. At the manned checkout I have used 2 GC at a time. There is one store in my area that will not do it so you may need to try another.

        • So, for $100 Coles Mastercard, you need $105 on the gift card?

          • @klownvandamn: Yes, or more at self checkout. I have not tried splitting but several on here said you cannot. At manned stations I have done split payments.

        • So basically we just straight up buy them from the manned checkouts? To get the most value.

          • @Autonomic: You get the same value from both. Just some people like to do it for themselves.

            • @Yola: But if you can't split payments, isn't the max you can buy 1x $100 MC gift card and 1x $50 MC gift card (+$5 activation fee ea.)? Then you're left with $40 on the Coles Myer gift card.

              • @Autonomic: Yes in a way but what ever money is left on the Coles Myer gift card you can use when you purchase a GC at a manned check out or for general shopping.

                • +1

                  @Yola: Fair enough. Thanks.

                • +2

@Yola: In hindsight it would be better to load $210 value on the Coles Myer GCs. Then you get 2x$100 cards. For next time!

                  • @Autonomic: True but then you do not get 20% discount. Anyway I got 20 of them. Used 7 already and $95 left on each of these after purchasing 1 card then can use that one next time at manned checkout or for petrol, groceries etc…Still I may do that next time.

                    • @Yola: The $5 fees is inevitable, you get $200 Master card from the a $170 spend ($210 - $40), which is 15% discount only.

In the case of adding 2000 Flybuys, max you are only getting 160/200 = 20% off, which is the original discount.

So every mastercard you get you can't avoid losing that 5% unless you get the flybuys offer which recoup that.

                      • @RHSteven: Yes I only purchase them when they have 2000 points for $100 card purchase so I not only recoup the fee but get another 5% off. I have 7 flybuys accounts so I can stock up.

    • does this actually work?

      • Yes.

      • +1

But can't you just use the Myer gift card to make purchases at Coles?

and as digitalane says how do you get the extra 5% (20% to 25%)?

      • I thought you couldn't buy mastercards with GC?

        • see my comment above.

    • Doesn't Coles Mastercards have $5 activation fee? unless there is 2000 flybuys promotion

      • +2

Yes I only purchase them when there is the 2000 points promotion ($10) - $5 activation fee = additional 5% off.

        • The deal is not gonna to come anytime soon isn't it.

        • Yola, you can only get the 2000points once per flybuys card…you have a few of them do you….?

    • So another $2000 worth of Coles Myer GCs then?

      • For me yes and last time too. It goes quickly as I can pay my electricity bill, Doctors and other health providers with the Coles Mastercard, basically anything that does not accept Amex at 25% off and collect more FF points than possible on my Mastercard. Or use the Coles Myer gift card at Coles, Office works, Target and Shell.

  • Yay I was targeted!

  • I got spend $200 get $40. Qantas Ultimate.

  • +1

Got it last time but forgot to use it. Got again this time

  • Got the full deal on 2 of the cards.
    1 card has spend 250 get 25.

    Happy GC shopping.

  • got on 3 cards again.

  • not targeted ….

    • It is, because the amounts differ per card. If it was everyone is eligible and every one gets the same spend and rebate, it wouldn’t be targeted.

      • +1, i only got 2 of 3 cards. last time i got on all 3 cards but different deals.

    • It's definitely targeted, my offer was spend $350 get $35 back.

  • got spend 250 get 25 back..

    • Still good.

      • -2

not really.. 10% isnt great ..

        • 10% of 100 million dollars is a lot.

          • +1

@Turd: i would not spend 100 million at myer to get back 10 million.

            • @hippyhippy: If I had the chance I would, free 10million dollars.

              • @Turd: LOL, I'd rather buy a yacht.

              • @Turd: $100 million dollars worth of Coles Myer gift cards. You must have a big family.

        • +1

It's rare to get more than 5% off GC for Coles. I can only usually get 4% off from Suncorp and have to pay with Mastercard.

    • Me too, on both my Amex Essentials. Thanks OP!

  • I got spend $250 to get $25 back on my Platinum edge cards, nothing on Velocity Amex.

  • Actually I think I wasn't targeted last time either come to think of it. Someone else posted a manual enrollment link.

  • Got $250/25 on my platinum edge and 2 supp cards.

This is my first targeted offer since fashion week, where I methodically maxed out the full discount. I thought they had flagged me lol.

  • +1

Got $40 back on $200 spend on 2 cards. Will buy coles myer gift cards

    • How does this work, you buy a coles gift card at myer (instore/online) then spend on coles fuel/groceries etc, i can't see that on myer website…I think I may be missing something here..

      • +1

In-store only….Coles/Myer gift cards. Online is only MYER cards.

  • +2

Thanks OP, got the offer on all 10 of my cards :D

    • Wth are you doing with 10 cards?!

  • Excellent timing! Moneys tight after the silly season, this will help a bit towards keeping food bills under control.

  • Got it on all of my cards, thanks.

  • Stocked up $5,250 (25 cards) in the last batch, gonna do it again.

    • You have 25 American Express cards?

I haven't received the offer yet, no love.

      • Me and my wife, we both have 2 accounts, plus my Platinum card. mum & dad on supp, 5x5 in total.

        • Never considered parents. Good idea

        • Are you saying you can have 1 primary and 4 supps per Amex card?
Jeesh if so ive been missing out for such a long time.
I always thought it was maxed at 4 in total I.e. the primary card holder and 3 supps

          • @cheapfab: yes 5 all together. Sometimes they even have give you bonus points for getting a new supp. Also when I got them you did not need to prove id for the supp, after all the primary is responsible, so you can use random names.

        • I count 5x4

        • Sorry a bit late to this, but does having supplementary cards affect your credit rating in any way?

I'm assuming that they are all linked to the one account and whatever credit limit you have?

  • -1

can anyone tell me how did i manage to get two amex cards with different numbers under the account, last i remembered they just sent the cards to me, yes both have this offer!

  • Now just hoping for discount on Uber cards at Coles!

    • How do you use this at Coles? I thought you're not allowed to buy gift cards with gift cards at Coles.

      • see discussion on previous page.

  • Thank you, just pickup a Coles Myer gift card. No email confirmation yet, hopefully will come soon.

    • No confirmation email here either. Starting to hope this is actually a new offer and not an extension of the previous one (that I used) like the PayPal one.

      • Definitely new offer. I used all the ones I received last time and then this lot popped up and expiry is 5 Feb.

    • Same here, bought a GC around 2 hours ago, no email yet, very strange as usually the Amex email pings me before even leaving the store…

      • +1

I have used over 60 offers since November and the emails have been sporadic but have always received the credit.

        • Just got email 😏

          • @88mph: Purchased mine about 1pm, not email yet. Posting here int he hope it appears the seconds after I press 'Post Comment'

edit - it worked received the email a few minutes later

          • @88mph: Was it for a card you also used in the previous offer?

    • +1

Same here, just bought 1 just in case.

    • Just received the confirmation email of the spending offer from Amex. So everything is OK.

      • Was it for a card you also used in the previous offer?

        • Yes!

          • +1

@mmcs: Sweet, I'm being paranoid for no good reason then :-) thanks!

            • @jasonb: I was nervous too, but now just hope that myer still have the gc available for purchase.

  • Got absolutely nothing on two cards.

    • Did you receive this offer last month? From memory, my email came a day (or two) after I first saw it here on OzB.

  • Looks like MYER is really in some deep trouble.
Online shopping are killing them, Not much people shopping there any more.

  • Bought 2 gc with two different cards. No emails and when I logged in. It doesn’t shows that it has been redeemed either.—-just received the 2 emails.. all good!!

  • One card $200/$40. Other card $250/25. I think I've redeemed a Myer offer previously so the relevant card is now getting weaker promotions.

  • Yes! Got it again on mine and husbands

  • Can anyone confirm that you're still eligible for AmEx credits if you load the card into Apple/Samsung/Google Pay and pay via phone NFC? Does that constitute a third party method?

    • +4

Can anyone confirm that you're still eligible for AmEx credits if you load the card into Apple/Samsung/Google Pay and pay via phone NFC?

Yes, they count. Third-party is stuff like PayPal and Afterpay

      • Great - saves me a trip home this afternoon.

  • Purchased a gift card earlier, as already post seems just delay getting the confirmation email from Amex so don’t have to worry!

  • How do you add it to your supplementary card? Previously I’ve used the manual sign up link for sup cards

    • +1

you have to set up separate online banking for the supplementary card. Follow prompts online. It will then receive its own offers.

    • Was there a manual enrolment link last round(of this offer)?

  • +1

    Awesome got targeted again :D

Glad I kept the Westpac Black open
